Itna na mujhse tu pyaar badha

The first time I had heard this song was in a school play when I was in 4th standard back in the 80s. I remember the tunes making a spot in my mind and heart and I fell in love with it. It was years later that I realized the music actually originated from Mozart's Symphony No. 40. I still call it inspired by the symphony and not copied from it for my own reasons. ;) Coming back to our song, I think it's very beautifully written and only this music could do justice to it. Absolutely love the words penned by Rajinder Krishan sahab and music of Salil Chaudhary is wonderful. Not to forget the amazing singers for making it what it is!! An amazing song.. I'm glad Talat sahab sung this one and not any other male singers. They wouldn't have been able to do justice to it as well as Talat sahab, I think. Sunil Dutt looks ever so handsome and Asha Parekh so young and beautiful. Who wouldn't fall in love with these gorgeous people? Anyone would!

M: itna na mujhse tu pyaar badha
ke main ek baadal aawaara
kaise kisi ka sahaara banu
ke khud beghar bechara

F: is liye tujhse main pyaar karoon
ke tu ek baadal aawaara
janam janam se hoon saath tere
hai naam mera jal ki dhaara

M: itna na mujhse tu pyaar badha
ke main ek baadal aawaara
F: janam janam se hoon saath tere
hai naam mera jal ki dhaara

M: (mujhe ek jagaah aaraam nahin
ruk jaana mera kaam nahin) (2)
mera saath kahaan tak dogi tum
main dez bides ka banjaara

itna na mujhse tu pyaar badha
ke main ek baadal aawaara
kaise kisi ka sahaara banu
ke khud beghar bechara

F: is liye tujhse main pyaar karoon
ke tu ek baadal aawaara
janam janam se hoon saath tere
hai naam mera jal ki dhaara

(o neel gagan ke deewaane
tu pyaar na mera pehchaane) (2)
main tab tak saath chaloon tere
ab tak na kahe tu main haara

is liye tujhse main pyaar karoon
ke tu ek baadal aawaara
janam janam se hoon saath tere
hai naam mera jal ki dhaara

M: itna na mujhse tu pyaar badha
ke main ek baadal aawaara
kaise kisi ka sahaara banu
ke khud beghar bechara

(kyon pyaar mein tu naadaan bane
ek paagal ka armaan bane) (2)
F: ab laut ke jaana mushkil hai
maine chhoD diya hai jag saara

M: itna na mujhse tu pyaar badha
ke main ek baadal aawaara
F: janam janam se hoon saath tere
hai naam mera jal ki dhaara

Bandaa parvar thaam lo jigar...

For me, if one movie that can come close to Golmaal, it would be Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon. Like Golmaal, I must have watched it more than 20 times. It is one of those movies that falls under the "most-entertaining" category. That could be a personal thing too as I truly enjoy the music, songs, story, acting along with the silliness and everything else about the movie.

It's so much fun to watch these songs over and over again. Jeeps and the tall trees remind me of another OPN-Majrooh-Rafi song pukaarta chala hoon main. The best part about this one are the music, lyrics and singer's voice along with all the horse-carriges/taanga and Popatlaal's comedy. And for some reason, everytime I hear the taanga music in a song, it makes me feel that it must be OPN song.

Joy Mukherjee becomes a pathan to disguise himself in this one and Asha Parekh as her beautiful bossy self with a cute hat. It's a lot of fun to watch them. They had pretty good onscreen chemistry. As for the location, I wonder what place this is. Mona's friend mentions Barahmulla right before the song but I am not sure whether that's where it is.

If you are watching the extended clip below, check out the comedy parts of Difu (Rajendranath) in and around the song for additional entertainment. :)

bandaa parvar
(bandaa parvar thaam lo jigar
ban ke pyaar phir aaya hoon
khidmat mein aap ki huzoor
phir wohi dil laayaa hoon)

(notice signature OPN music here!)

ho ho ho ho
aa aa aa aa aa

ho ho ho ho
aa aa aa aa aa aa

(jis ki tadap se rukh pe tumhaare
aaya nikhaar gazab kaa) (2)
jis ke lahoo se aur bhi chamkaa
rang tumhaare lab kaa
gesu khule zanjeer bane
aur bhi tum tasveer bane
aainaa dildaar kaa nazraana pyaar ka
phir wohi dil laayaa hoon
bandaa parvar
bandaa parvar thaam lo jigar
ban ke pyaar phir aaya hoon
khidmat mein aap ki huzoor
phir wohi dil laayaa hoon

(what beautiful instrument plays here?)

ho ho ho ho
aa aa aa aa aa

ho ho ho ho
aa aa aa aa aa aa

(meri nigaahen shokh se bachkar
yaar kahaan jaaoge) (2) [where is this gorgeous place?]
paanv jahaan rakh doge adaa se
dil ko wahin paaoge
rahoon judaa yeh majaal kahaan
jaau kahin yeh khayaal kahaan
bandaa dildaar kaa nazraanaa pyaar kaa
phir wohi dil laayaa hoon
bandaa parvar
bandaa parvar thaam lo jigar
ban ke pyaar phir aaya hoon
khidmat mein aap ki huzoor
phir wohi dil laayaa hoon

Yeh meri zindagi ek paagal hawaa

What an upbeat number! but a sad one at that. I couldn't believe my ears when I first listened to it. Completely contradicting music and lyrics, it's a very beautiful song though, with Lataji's lovely voice and Asha Parekh's dancing/acting just add to the beauty. The song just gets stuck in your head after listening to it for a few times.

yeh kaun jaane main kya hoon
sun na chaahte ho
suno
main ek chaand hoon
jis ke maathe pe ek daag hai
mera dil jalta hua chiraag hai

(yeh meri zindagi ek paagal hawaa
aaj idhar kal udhar main kisi ki nahin) (2)
yeh meri zindagi

jeevan meraa jyoti pyaar ki
har dil se mel chaahat ka khel
duniya se pyaar karti
meri mehfil sab ki raahen
chalne mein teer itni shaheer
jaise gagan ki laali
aaj idhar kal udhar main kisi ki nahin
yeh meri zindagi ek paagal hawaa
aaj idhar kal udhar main kisi ki nahin
yeh meri zindagi

meri duniya dhokhe suhaane
waade haseen kaagaz ke phool
khusboo se door hai
hoon to saahil lekin toofaan
manzil na koyi mere khayaal
masti mein choor hai
aaj idhar kal udhar main kisi ki nahin
yeh meri zindagi ek paagal hawaa
aaj idhar kal udhar main kisi ki nahin
yeh meri zindagi

mera yeh dil zakhmon ka gulshan
aahen bharu na shikve karu
main aansoo ke jaam pee loon
gham ko bhulaau khush ho ke gaau
machle jo dard chehra ho zard
deewaani ban ke jee loon
aaj idhar kal udhar main kisi ki nahin
(yeh meri zindagi ek paagal hawaa
aaj idhar kal udhar main kisi ki nahin) (2)
yeh meri zindagi

Teri zulfon se judaai to nahin maangi thi...

A romantic number from one of my old tapes. They don't make songs like these any more. 60's songs truly rock!

F: is hirso hawas ki duniyaa mein
armaan badalte dekhen hai
dhokhaa hai yahaan laalach hai yahaan
imaan badalte dekhe hai

Ch: waah waah... waah waah

F: daulat ke sunehre jaadoo se aye dil tadapnaa achhaa hai
chaandi ke khanakte sikko par insaan badalte dekhe hai...

M: (teri zulfon se judaai to nahin maangi thi
qaid maangi thi rihaai to nahin maangi thi) (2)

maine kyaa jurm kiyaa aap khafaa ho baithe (2)
pyaar maangaa thaa khudaai to nahin maangi thi
qaid maangi thi rihaai to nahin maangi thi

meraa haq thaa teri aankhon ki chhalakti may par (2)
cheez apni thi paraayi to nahin maangi thi
qaid maangi thi rihaai to nahin maangi thi

apne beemaar pe itnaa bhi sitam theek nahin (2)
teri ulfat mein buraai to nahin maangi thi
qaid maangi thi rihaai to nahin maangi thi

teri zulfon se judaai to nahin maangi thi
qaid maangi thi rihaai to nahin maangi thi

Tum Mujhe Yoon Bhula Na Paaoge

It is Rafi sahab's 85th birthday tomorrow. This song of his in his memory... wish he was still with us.

May he find peace wherever he is.

The best singer of HFM!

Male version:

tum mujhe yoon bhula na paaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon bhula na paaoge
jab kabhi bhi sunoge geet mere
sang sang tum bhi gungunaaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon bhula na paaoge
ho tum mujhe yoon

(woh bahaaren woh chaandani raaten
jab khayaalon mein mujhko laaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon bhula na paaoge
ho tum mujhe yoon

(mere haathon mein teraa chehra tha
jaise koyi gulaab hota hai) (2)
aur sahaara liya tha baahon ka
woh samaa kis taraah bhulaaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon bhula na paaoge
ho tum mujhe yoon

(mujhko dekhe bina qaraar na tha
ek aisa bhi daur guzraa hai) (2)
jhooth maano to puchh lo dil se
main kahoonga to rooth jaaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon bhula na paaoge

Female version:

tum mujhe yoon bhula na paaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon bhula na paaoge
jab kabhi bhi sunoge geet mere
sang sang tum bhi gungunaaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon bhula na paaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon

(beeti baaton ka kuchh khayaal karo
kuchh to bolo kuchh hum se baat karo) (2)
raaz-e-dil main tumhe bataa doongi
main tumhaari hoon maan jaaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon bhula na paaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon

(meri khaamoshiyon ko samjho tum
zindagi yaad mein guzaari hai) (2)
main miti hoon tumhaari chaahat mein
aur kitna mujhe mitaaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon bhula na paaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon

(dil hi dil mein tum hi se pyaar kiya
apne jeevan ko bhi nisaar kiya) (2)
kaun tadapaa tumhaari raahon mein
jab yeh sochoge jaan jaaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon bhula na paaoge
jab kabhi bhi sunoge geet mere
sang sang tum bhi gungunaaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon bhula na paaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon

Jingle Bells... Aao Tumhe Chaand Pe Le Jaaye...

Merry Xmas everyone! Found just a perfect song... it's really a sweet one.

LM: (jingle bells jingle bells
jingle all the way
santa claus is coming along
riding on a sleigh)
la la la...
la la la...
la la la la la...

Girl: yeh santa claus ka ghar kahan hai
AP: chand pe
Girl: hume bhi wahan le chaliye na
AP: achha?

LM: (aao tumhe chaand pe le jaaye
pyaar bhare sapne sajhaaye
chhota sa bangla banaaye
ek nayi duniya basaaye
ho ho) (2)
aao tumhe chaand pe le jaaye

pyaar ki hai duniya door aasmaan pe
mil ke na bichhade koi wahaan pe
aisi bhi ek dagar hai
aisa bhi ek nagar hai (here I am reminded of ek pyaar ka naghma hai)
ho ho ho
aao tumhe chaand pe le jaaye
pyaar bhare sapne sajhaaye
chhota sa bangla banaaye
ek nayi duniya basaaye
ho ho
aao tumhe chaand pe le jaaye

gham jahaan soye aur khushi jaage
aaj ki hai manzil taaron se aage
dil wahaan rote nahin hai
aansoo to hote nahin hai
ho ho ho
aao tumhe chaand pe le jaaye
pyaar bhare sapne sajhaaye
chhota sa bangla banaaye
ek nayi duniya basaaye

Jab se tumhe dekha hai...

The best pair that ever sang duets... that's how I like to describe Rafi and Asha. Yet another romantic song to make it to their collection and what beautiful rhyming lyrics by Shakeel Badayuni. It just doesn't get any better. Ravi's music is simply charming and makes me want to listen to this one all day long.

There is a confusion that I have about the year this film was released. Some sites say 1961 and the others mention 1963. I've put 1961 as earthmusic.net had that one. If you do happen to know the correct one, please to share. Thank you. :)

M: jab se tumhe dekha hai aankhon mein tum hi tum ho (2)
F: hum bhi yehi kehte hai saanson mein tum hi tum ho
M: jab se tumhe dekha hai aankhon mein tum hi tum ho

M: (aa gaye pyaar ke din bekhudi chhaane lagi
F: mastiyaan jhoom uthi zindagi gaane lagi) (2)
zindagi gaane lagi
M: dil ke naye ki naghmon taano mein tum hi tum ho (2)
F: hum bhi yehi kehte hai saanson mein tum hi tum ho
M: jab se tumhe dekha hai aankhon mein tum hi tum ho

F: aa ha ha aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa
M: aa ha ha aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa

F: (jab se paaya hai tumhe bheega bheega hai samaa
M: jab se chaaha hai tumhe har nazaara hai jawaan) (2)
har nazaara hai jawaan
F: dil mein tumhi rehte ho yaadon mein tum hi tum ho (2)
M: hum bhi yehi kehte hai saanson mein tum hi tum ho
F: jab se tumhe dekha hai aankhon mein tum hi tum ho

aa aa aa aa aa a a a a a a a a a

M: (deep khushiyon ke sadaa dil mein jalte hi rahe
F: pyaar ki duniya mein hum saath chalte hi rahe) (2)
saath chalte hi rahe
M: kyon na mile manzil jab raahon mein tum hi tum ho
F: kyon na mile manzil jab raahon mein tum hi tum ho
Both: hum bhi yehi kehte hai saanson mein tum hi tum ho
jab se tumhe dekha hai aankhon mein tum hi tum ho (2)

Husn Waale Teraa Jawaab Nahin

We had some family friends visiting this past weekend who also enjoy the HFM oldies. And so while watching one of the rare recordings of Abhi to Main Jawaan Hoon of Rafi sahab and Naushad we got to watch/listen to this one.

One of my favorite when it comes to taareef karofying songs. Oh how I wish I get to see this film some day soon... none of the local video rental places carry it. May be when I find time to start renting online. Any how, you got to listen to it to truly appreciate all the goodness in it.

Many thanks to Rajshri for putting up almost all the songs from their movies on youtube. You guys rock!

husn waale teraa jawaab nahin
koyi tujh sa nahin hazaaron mein
husn waale teraa jawaab nahin

tu hai aisi kali jo gulshan mein
saath apne bahaar laayi ho
tu hai aisi kiran jo raat dhale
chaandni mein nahaake aayi ho
yeh teraa noor yeh tere jalwe
jis tarah chaand ho sitaaron mein
husn waale teraa jawaab nahin

teri aankhon mein aisi masti hai
jaise chalke hue ho paimaane
tere honthon pe woh khaamoshi hai
jaise bikhare hue ho afsaane
teri zulfon ki aise rangat hai
jaise kaali ghataa bahaaron mein
husn waale teraa jawaab nahin

teri surat jo dekh le shayar
apne sheron mein taazagi bhar le
ek musafir jo tujh ko paa jaaye
apne khwaabon mein zindagi bhar le
nagmaa-gar dhoondhle agar tujh ko
dard bharle woh dil ke taaron mein

husn waale teraa jawaab nahin
koyi tujh sa nahin hazaaron mein
husn waale teraa jawaab nahin

Mere Sapnon Ki Raani Tum Nahin Ho

At first it may seem like the "mere sapnon ki raani" song of Aradhana but it's not. It's a Rafi solo from film Jawaan Mohabbat starring Shammi Kapoor. This is one of my latest favorites. What a song! I can't wait to get my hands on the rest of the songs of this film; yup, they're mostly Rafi songs. :D I'm surprised I had not heard songs from this movie until just last week. Such a shame!

Til I find the video of this song, enjoy the beautiful lyrics by Hasrat Jaipuri. Be warned about the MIO link for audio of this song though.

M: mere sapnon ki raani
tum nahin ho (3)

mere sapnon ki raani
tum nahin ho (3)

woh hai seedhi saadi bholi bhaali
hirni jaisi aankhon waali
haye mere sapnon ki raani
tum nahin ho (3)

(jo us mein adaa hai kisi mein nahin
jo us mein hayaa hai kisi mein nahin) (2)
mujhe meri jaan-e-wafaa chaahiye
mujhe to wohi dilrubaa chaahiye
mere sapnon ki raani
tum nahin ho (3)
woh hai seedhi saadi bholi bhaali
hirni jaisi aankhon waali
haye mere sapnon ki raani
tum nahin ho (3)

(agar muskuraa de woh jaan-e-bahaar
to barsaa kare aasmaanon se pyaar) (2)
agar naa?? aaye woh naazneen
to ho jaaye duniya mukkmal haseen
mere sapnon ki raani
tum nahin ho (3)
woh hai seedhi saadi bholi bhaali
hirni jaisi aankhon waali
haye mere sapnon ki raani
tum nahin ho (3)

ho mere sapnon ki raani
tum nahin ho (3)
woh hai seedhi saadi bholi bhaali
hirni jaisi aankhon waali
haye mere sapnon ki raani
tum nahin ho (3)

(ho
mil gayi (6)
mere sapnon ki raani mujhko mil gayi mil gayi) (2)

F: (ho
khul gayi (6)
tum mile to meri kismat khul gayi khul gayi) (2)

M: (dil mera deewana tha bin tere veerana tha
tere dum se baat bani warna ek afsana tha) (2)

ho
dhal gayi (6)
naagin jaisi kaali raina dhal gayi dhal gayi

F: ho
khul gayi (6)
tum mile to meri kismat khul gayi khul gayi

Tere Bin Soone

If not the actual song itself, you've probably heard the beginning aalap of this song in a Lata Mangeshkar interview somewhere.

I didn't know of this song until recently but as soon as I did, I almost fell in love with the music and the slowness of it. Ashok Kumar looks almost different in that getup, and Asha Parekh as beautiful as ever. Music is quite slow and touches your heart. The singers have seemingly poured out their heart with their words. Do check it out. The video has an extra stanza than my audio track so I loved watching it as well.

Don't know what raag this is based on but I am almost certain it is based on one.

M: tere bin soone (2)
nain humaare
tere bin soone
baat takat gaye saanj sakhaare haaye
tere bin soone nain humaare
tere bin soone

ho
raat jo aaye dhal jaaye pyaasi (2)
din kaa hai dujaa naam udaasi
neendiyaan naa aaye (2)
ab mere dwaare
tere bin soone nain humaare
tere bin soone

ho
jag mein rahaa main jag se paraayaa (2)
saayaa bhi meraa mere paas na aayaa
hansne ke din bhi (2)
ro ke guzaare
tere bin soone nain humaare
tere bin soone
baat takat gaye saanj sakhaare haaye
tere bin soone

F: hmm hmm hmm
ho ho ho
oh andekhe oh anjaane (2)
chhup ke naa gaa yeh prem taraane
kaun hai tu mohe (2)
kuchh to bataa re
tere bin soone nayan humaare
tere bin soone
baat takat gaye saanj sakhaare
tere bin soone

Likhe Jo Khat Tujhe

When it comes to Mohd. Rafi songs, I just can't get enough. And if it is a Shashi Kapoor song, then it just doesn't get any better. This one of my favorite songs. What a romantic song!

(likhe jo khat tujhe woh teri yaad mein
hazaaron rang ke nazaare ban gaye) (2)

saveraa jab huaa to phool ban gaye
jo raat aayi to sitaare ban gaye
likhe jo khat tujhe

koi naghmaa kahin goonjaa kahaa dil ne yeh tu aayi
kahin chatki kali koi main yeh samjhaa tu sharmaayi
koi khushboo kahin bikhari lagaa yeh zulf lehraayi
likhe jo khat tujhe woh teri yaad mein
hazaaron rang ke nazaare ban gaye
saveraa jab huaa to phool ban gaye
jo raat aayi to sitaare ban gaye
likhe jo khat tujhe

fizaa rangeen adaa rangeen yeh ithalaanaa yeh sharmaanaa
yeh angdaayi yeh tanhaayi yeh tarsaa kar chale jaanaa
banaa degaa nahin kis ko jawaan jaadoo yeh deewaanaa
likhe jo khat tujhe woh teri yaad mein
hazaaron rang ke nazaare ban gaye
saveraa jab huaa to phool ban gaye
jo raat aayi to sitaare ban gaye
likhe jo khat tujhe

jahaan tu hai wahaan main hoon mere dil ki tu dhadkan hai
musaafir main tu manzil hai main pyaasaa hoon tu saawan hai
meri duniyaa yeh nazaren hai meri jannat yeh daaman hai
likhe jo khat tujhe woh teri yaad mein
hazaaron rang ke nazaare ban gaye
saveraa jab huaa to phool ban gaye
jo raat aayi to sitaare ban gaye
likhe jo khat tujhe

Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye Humdum...

While I was listening to main tere pyaar ka... I stumbled upon this lovely piano number from Love in Tokyo. It's been quite a few years since I watched this movie so I had forgotten about this song completely.

It was great fun watching the song and of course the eyelids-batting wide-hipped Asha Parekh looking stunning in that killer-red saari and glittery look!! and Joy Mukherjee soooooo handsome and quite sane! (You should watch this pair in "Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon" - a complete entertainment package!) And Pran just looks fabulous, what a personality! which again brings me back to this trio in PWDLH but that's whole another topic and I would rather make another post for that.

Until then... enjoy the SJ, LM and HJ magic!

(mujhe tum mil gaye humdum sahaaraa ho to aisa ho
jidhar dekhoo udhar tum ho nazaara ho to aisa ho) (2)
mujhe tum mil gaye humdum

kisi kaa chaand saa chehraa nazar se choom leti hoon (2)
khushi ki intahaa yeh hai nashe mein zoom leti hoon
nashe mein zoom leti hoon
hui takadeer bhi roshan sitaaraa ho to aisa ho
jidhar dekhoo udhar tum ho nazaara ho to aisa ho
mujhe tum mil gaye humdum

meri aankhon mein aansoo hai magar aansoo khushi ke hai (2) [dramatic violin music adds so much to the feeling of this stanza]

kise chhodoon kise paa loon yeh rishte zindagi ke hai
yeh rishte zindagi ke hai
hume to naaz hai tum par humaaraa ho to aisa ho
jidhar dekhoo udhar tum ho nazaara ho to aisa ho
mujhe tum mil gaye humdum

(I can't recall where I have heard these oh-so-familiar piano tunes)

udhar dil hai idhar jaan hai ajab mushkil kaa saamaan hai (2)
labon par muskuraahat hai magar saanson mein toofaan hai
magar saanson mein toofaan hai
yeh main jaanoo yaa tum jaano ishaaraa ho to aisa ho
jidhar dekhoo udhar tum ho nazaara ho to aisa ho
mujhe tum mil gaye humdum

Kya Jaanoo Sajan

When you think haunting melodies the only name that comes to mind is Lata Mangeshkar. No one can even come close. It's like only she can sing those songs and no one else. This one became my favorite the instance I heard it, back in 2002. It appears so that they included this same song in Kavita Krishnamurthy's voice in a movie called Dil Vil Pyar Vyar (2002) and so when I heard it in her voice, I searched for it and eventually found out the original is by none other than our very own Lataji.

The original picturization is quite nice too, which I found out only a couple of months back. :)

I think here the combination of all three of these - singer's voice, the lyrics and the music make the song haunting, and not just the music.

Bhari Duniya Mein Aakhir Dil Ko

Yet another piano song that is full of emotions. One of my favorites from this film.

(piano and violins play in orchestra - only if there was a way to listen to this live! voice of Rafi and this music totally deadly combo!)

Woh dil kahaan se laau

For its immortal music and Lataji's voice, I have always been fan of this song. I had heard it for the first time as a kid when my parents would hum/sing this song and then later as teenager from my neighbor who was a HUGE Lata songs fan. Then today I ngot to see this song on silver screen... and all can I do is just "wow!" Check it out for yourself...

mere dil ne tujhko chaahaa kyaa yehi meri khataa hai (2)
maanaa khataa hai lekin aisi to naa sazaa de

~~~~~*~~~~~
वो दील कहाँ से लाऊ तेरी याद जो भूला दे (२)
मुझे याद आने वाले कोई रास्ता बता दे
वो दील कहाँ से लाऊ तेरी याद जो भूला दे
रेहने दे मुझको अपने क़दमों की ख़ाक बन कर (२)
जो नहीं तुझे गंवारा मुझे ख़ाक में मिला दे
वो दील कहाँ से लाऊ तेरी याद जो भूला दे
मेरे दील ने तुझको चाहा क्या येही मेरी खता है (२)
माना खता है लेकिन ऐसी तो ना सज़ा दे
वो दील कहाँ से लाऊ तेरी याद जो भूला दे
मुझे याद आने वाले कोई रास्ता बता दे
वो दील कहाँ से लाऊ तेरी याद जो भूला दे
Aansoo samajh ke kyon mujhe...
Probably one of the first Talat songs that I fell in love with...
And am so happy to discover the third stanza of the song today which is the middle one! This video on youtube includes all three stanzas. What a super song!
aansoo samajh ke kyon mujhe aankh se tumne giraa diyaa
moti kisi ke pyaar kaa mitti mein kyon milaa diyaa
aansoo samajh ke kyon mujhe
jo naa chaman mein khil sakaa mein woh gareeb phool hoon (2)
jo kuchh bhi hoon bahaar ki chhoti si ek bhool hoon
jisne khilaa ke khud mujhe khud hi mujhe bhulaa diyaa
aansoo samajh ke kyon mujhe aankh se tumne giraa diyaa
aansoo samajh ke kyon mujhe
naghmaa hoon kab magar mujhe apne pe koi naaz thaa (2)
gaayaa gayaa hoon jis pe mein tootaa huaa woh saaz thaa
jis ne soonaa woh hans diyaa hans ke mujhe rulaa diyaa
aansoo samajh ke kyon mujhe aankh se tumne giraa diyaa
aansoo samajh ke kyon mujhe
meri khataa muaaf hai bhoole se aa gayaa yahaan (2)
varnaa mujhe bhi hai khabar meraa nahin hai yeh jahaan
doob chalaa thaa neend mein achhaa kiyaa jagaa diyaa
aansoo samajh ke kyon mujhe aankh se tumne giraa diyaa
moti kisi ke pyaar kaa mitti mein kyon milaa diyaa
aansoo samajh ke kyon mujhe
आंसू समझ के क्यों मुझे आँख से तुमने गीरा दीया
मोती किसी के प्यार का मिट्टी में क्यों मिला दीया
आंसू समझ के क्यों मुझे
जो ना चमन में खिल सका में वोह गरीब फूल हूँ (२)
जो कुछ भी हूँ बहार की छोटी सी एक भूल हूँ
जिसने खिला के खुद मुझे खुद ही मुझे भुला दीया
आंसू समझ के क्यों मुझे आँख से तुमने गीरा दीया
आंसू समझ के क्यों मुझे
नग्मा हूँ कब मगर मुझे अपने पे कोई नाज़ था (२)
गाया गया हूँ जिस पे में टूटा हुआ वोह साज़ था
जिस ने सूना वोह हंस दीया, हंस के मुझे रुला दीया
आंसू समझ के क्यों मुझे आँख से तुमने गीरा दीया
आंसू समझ के क्यों मुझे
मेरी खता मुआफ है भूले से आ गया यहाँ (२)
वरना मुझे भी है खबर मेरा नहीं है येह जहाँ
डूब चला था नींद में अच्छा किया जगा दीया
आंसू समझ के क्यों मुझे आँख से तुमने गीरा दीया
मोती किसी के प्यार का मिट्टी में क्यों मिला दीया
आंसू समझ के क्यों मुझे
Mujhe Pyaar Mein Tum
The soundtrack of Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon has been my all time favorite. I get tired neither of listening to these songs nor watching the movie. This is one song that's mostly unheard from the movie - a solo by Asha Bhosle. Song isn't too long either but it's beautiful. Even the picturization is very beautiful... Asha Parekh singing as she sits in a boat floating in a lake and Joy Mujherjee walking on side walk that's right next to the lake. The expressions of the actors tell a lot more of the story with the words beautifully penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri. Another hit OPN-AB combo! Fantastic!
mujhe pyaar mein tum naa ilzaam dete
agar jaante gham meri bebasi kaa
meri berukhi tum ne dekhi hai lekin
nahin tum ne dekhaa tadapnaa kissi kaa
(mere dil ne chaahaa thaa kuch tumse kehnaa
magar pyaar kehtaa hai khaamosh rehnaa) (2)
dikhaaye kisse hum yeh ashko kaa behnaa
sunaaye kisse dard dil ki lagi kaa
(meri berukhi tum ne dekhi hai lekin
nahin tum ne dekhaa tadapnaa kissi kaa) (2)
