Dil yeh duaa de rahaa hai sanam...

When I heard this song today while driving, first thing that caught my attention was the music and of course the beautiful lyrics. I have a feeling it's raag bhimpalasi. I could be totally wrong, but the way I have been wanting to listen to it over and over again says it's definitely classical and more so bhimpalasi based song. In any case, so then the evening was spent looking at the video of the song. It makes me want to watch this movie now.

What beautiful music Jatin-Lalit make and the lyrics go perfectly with the raag of the song. I am loving it!!

Mahima makes such a good actor for slow romantic songs. Reminds me of another song of hers, which I think I should post on here. Ajay Devgan looks handsome too I think and perfect to match Mahima's role.

F: dil yeh duaa de rahaa hai sanam
oh dil yeh duaa de rahaa hai sanam
pyaar zinda humaara rahe
yahaan chaahe rahe na rahe hum
M: dil yeh duaa de rahaa hai sanam
pyaar zinda humaara rahe
yahaan chaahe rahe na rahe hum
dil yeh duaa de rahaa hai sanam

F: aarzoo yehi na bicchaDe kisi moD pe
raah mein kabhi na jaana mujhe chhoD ke
chaahenge hum yoon hi tum ko
hogi mohabbat na kam
M: dil yeh duaa de rahaa hai sanam
pyaar zinda humaara rahe
yahaan chaahe rahe na rahe hum
F: dil yeh duaa de rahaa hai sanam

M: har khushi mile daaman mein dildaar ke
aadmi wohi ruke na kabhi haar ke
manzil manzil tum ko paaye
chume tumhaare kadam
F: dil yeh duaa de rahaa hai sanam
pyaar zinda humaara rahe
yahaan chaahe rahe na rahe hum
M: dil yeh duaa de rahaa hai sanam
pyaar zinda humaara rahe
yahaan chaahe rahe na rahe hum
F: yahaan chaahe rahe na rahe hum

Tohre naina bade.. dagaabaaz re..

I love new songs like these that leave me wanting to listen to the songs again even after the movie is over. Very few new movies actually do that trick, and Dabangg 2 is definitely one of them. I think the singers and music have something to do with this feeling. Greedy me wants one more stanza in this one too. If only the lyricist was generous and bathroom breaks lasted longer. Hahaha.. do people still take bathroom breaks in Indian movie theaters when songs come up? I wonder. That reminds me of the scene from Golmaal (1979) when Helen's "mungda" song plays and Ramprasad is out changing clothes from work clothes to evening clothes in movie theater bathroom.

Back to our song: doesn't the music here remind you of music of abhi na jaao chhod kar, especially the ending part of the old song?

dagaabaaz re haaye dagaabaaz re
tohre naina bade dagaabaaz re
ho tohre naina... haaye
naina naina naina... haaye

("abhi na jaao" kind of music plays here)

dagaabaaz re haaye dagaabaaz re
tohre naina bade dagaabaaz re
kal mile.. haan kal mile hoye
yeh hum ko bhool gaye aaj re haaye
dagaabaaz re haaye dagaabaaz re
tohre naina bade dagaabaaz re

(this music reminds me of yet another Hindi film oldie, can't recall it though; love the harmonium here!)

kaahe khafaa aise chulbul se bulbul
kaahe na tu maane batiyaan haaye
F: kaahe padaa peechhe jaan pe bairi
na jaanu kyaa tori batiyaan haaye
M: zindagi apni hum tohka daan dai de
muskuraa ke jo maange praan dai de
kal mile.. ho kal mile... haaye
kal mile bhi hum ko bhool gaye aaj re
haaye dagaabaaz re (2)
tohre naina bade dagaabaaz re
tohre naina
dagaa (3)
dagaabaaz re
re dagaabaaz re
naina re

(dartaa jahaan hum se hum to usse darte
ih sab jaane mori raniyaa haaye) (2)
F: maskaa lagaao na chhodo ji chhodo
samajhti hai tori dhaniyaa haaye
M: is adaa pe to hum qubaan gaye ji
tohri naanaa main hum hi hai jaan gaye ji
kal mile... ho kal mile haaye
kal mile re hum ka bhul gaye aaj re
dagaabaaz re (2)
tohre naina bade dagaabaaz re
dagaabaaz (3) re haaye
tohre naina bade dagaabaaz re

Dil keh raha hai dil se... meri yaad rakhna..

Having discovered new Adnan Sami and Atif Aslam songs over the long weekend in July, I just can't stop listening to some of these songs. They're so amazing and I love the music and lyrics so much. Not to forget the beautiful voices of the singers to go with it. Some parts of the music in this song reminds me of khaayi hai re hum ne kasam.

(dil keh rahaa hai dil se
waadaa karo dil se
chaahe tum jahaan bhi jaana jaanam
meri yaad rakhna
oh meri yaad rakhna) (2)

hmm mausam bhale badle tum na badalna dilbar
chaahat ki raahon pe tum saath chalna
pyaar ki bekhudi keh rahi aashiqi
jaan-e-jaan meri yaad rakhna
oh meri yaad rakhna

dil keh rahaa hai dil se
waadaa karo dil se
chaahe tum jahaan bhi jaana jaanam
meri yaad rakhna
oh meri yaad rakhna

(love the music here)

jaldi se laut aanaa tum mujhse door jaake
yoon na sataana baatein banaake
chaandni raat mein neend mein khwaabon mein
jaan-e-jaan meri yaad rakhna
oh meri yaad rakhna

dil keh rahaa hai dil se
waadaa karo dil se
chaahe tum jahaan bhi jaana jaanam
meri yaad rakhna
oh meri yaad rakhna

Jiye to jiye kaise... bin aapke..

Having gotten a chance to meet Pankaj Udhas ji in person a couple of weekends back was super exciting not only for getting a chance to meet and get his autograph but also to listen to him sing! He didn't sing too many ghazals at the program that I was part of but got his DVD where he has sung various ghazals at Gateway of India in December 2011. And I got to listen to this song from Saajan. It took me back to the 90s once again.. what I loved the most about this was the aalaap he sang, that aren't in the film song. It just made me wish the song was longer, at least one more stanza would've been awesome. Until then, here's the non-filmy version of the beautiful ghazal penned by Sameer ji.

jiye to jiye kaise bin aap ke (2)
lagta nahin dil kahin bin aap ke
jiye to jiye kaise.. haaye.. bin aap ke

dekhke woh mujhe tera palken jhuka dena (2)
yaad bahot aaye tera muskura dena

dekhke woh mujhe tera palken jhuka dena
yaad bahot aaye tera muskura dena

kaise bhulaau woh saari baatein
woh meethi raatein woh mulakaate

jiye to jiye kaise.. haaye.. bin aap ke (2)

kaise kahoon bina tere zindagi yeh kya hogi (2)
jaise koyi sazaa koyi baddua hogi
kaise kahoon.. (aalap follows)
kaise kahoon kahoon..
kaise kahoon.. (2)
kaise kahoon (3) bina tere zindagi yeh kya hogi
jaise koyi sazaa koyi baddua hogi

maine kiya hai yeh faislaa
jeena nahin hai tere bina

jiye to jiye kaise.. haaye.. bin aap ke
jiye to jiye kaise bin aap ke
lagta nahin dil kahin bin aap ke
jiye to jiye kaise bin aap ke
haaye bin aap ke (2)

Nasha yeh pyaar ka nasha hai

Just out of no where I started humming this song. One of the reasons was that I finished a tedious task that I was supposed to so I think that caused the "nasha" effect more than anything and then it being a Friday night just added to it. Oh how I love this song. Didn't remember that was it an Aamir Khan song. How exciting! The music and lyrics are fun too and this one reminds me of so much of "jaa re jaa re ud jaa re panchhi" for some reason. Inspired music? I definitely want to think so ;) and the picturization reminds me of "ruk jaa o dil deewaane poochhu to main zaraa.."

tujhko dekhenge sitaare to zeeya maangenge (2)
aur pyaase teri zulfon se ghataa maangenge
apne kaandhe se dupatta na sarakne dena
warna boodhe bhi jawaani ki dua maangenge

are oh sharaabi ko aye khuda maut aa jaaye
jo chhod ke tujhe paimaana mooh ko lagaaye

(nasha yeh pyaar ka nasha hai
yeh meri baat yaaron maano
nashe mein yaar doob jaao
raho na hosh mein deewaanon) (2)

ke jab se maine tum ko dil yeh de diya
meetha meetha sa dard le liya
suno o priya
maine tum ko dil diya

Ch: nasha yeh pyaar ka nasha hai
yeh meri baat yaaron maano
M: nashe mein yaar doob jaao
raho na hosh mein deewaanon

(music sounds so familiar)

ho nazar se yoon mili nazar
deewaana main ho gayaa
asar yeh kya hua asar
kahaan yeh main kho gayaa
behke behke kadam behka behka hai man
chha gayaa chha gayaa mujhpe deewanapan
suno o priya
maine tum ko dil diya

Ch: nasha yeh pyaar ka nasha hai
yeh meri baat yaaron maano
M: nashe mein yaar doob jaao
raho na hosh mein deewaanon

jhuki jhuki nigaah mein
balaa ki shokhiyaan chhupi
khuli khuli laton mein bhi haaye
ghataa ki mastiayaan ruki
yeh hayaa yeh adaa
yeh Haseen yeh nayan
de gaye de gaye meethi meethi chubhan
suno o priya
maine tum ko dil diya

Ch: nasha yeh pyaar ka nasha hai
yeh meri baat yaaron maano
M: nashe mein yaar doob jaao
raho na hosh mein deewaanon
ke jab se maine tum ko dil yeh de diya
meetha meetha sa dard le liya
suno o priya
maine tum ko dil diya

Ch: nasha yeh pyaar ka nasha hai
yeh meri baat yaaron maano
nashe mein yaar doob jaao
raho na hosh mein deewaanon

M: nasha yeh pyaar ka nasha hai
yeh meri baat yaaron maano

raho na hosh mein deewaanon

Mujhe neend na aaye.. mujhe chain na aaye...

One of those evergreen songs from the era when the actors and actresses were skinny and eyebrows were thicker and wearing big yellow plastic earrings was fashionable and music was nice and you can hear the tabla and flute and the cameras still stayed on actors' faces and there were no 1000+ dancers dancing behind the two of them. This one is no different and that's why it has special place in heart. The lyrics stuck and for good reason. This afternoon out of no where I started humming this one and I just had to listen to it and post it on here so that I can listen to it again on a repeat mode. :)

Golden songs of golden days! Love!

Ch: aa aa...aa aa
aa aa.. aa aa..
aa..
aa aa aa...

(love the music here)

M: mujhe neend na aaye
neend na aaye (2)
F: mujhe chain na aaye
chain na aaye (2)

M: mujhe neend na aaye ho
mujhe neend na aaye
mujhe chain na aaye
koyi jaaye zaraa dhoondh ke laaye
na jaaye kahaan dil kho gaya (4)

F: mujhe neend na aaye
mujhe chain na aaye
koyi jaaye zaraa dhoondh ke laaye
na jaaye kahaan dil kho gaya (4)

(love their silhouette here)

F: (haalat kya hai kaise tujhe bataau main
karvat badal badal ke raat bitaau main) (2)
M: (poochho zara poochho kya haal hai
haal mera behaal hai) (2)
koyi samajh na paaye
kya rog sataaye
koyi jaaye zaraa dhoondh ke laaye
na jaaye kahaan dil kho gaya (4)
F: na jaaye kahaan dil kho gaya (4)

Ch: aa aa aa...
aa aa aa aa aa
aa aa aa...
aa aa aa...

(some lovely flute & tabla play here)

M: (jaan se bhi pyaara mujhko mera dil hai
uss ke bina ek pal bhi jeena mushkil hai) (2)
F: tauba meri tauba kya dard hai
dard badaa bedard hai) (2)
kabhi mujhko hasaaye kabhi mujhko rulaaye
koyi jaaye zaraa dhoondh ke laaye
na jaaye kahaan dil kho gaya (4)

M: mujhe neend na aaye
neend na aaye (2)
F: mujhe chain na aaye
chain na aaye (2)
M: mujhe neend na aaye
mujhe chain na aaye
koyi jaaye zaraa dhoondh ke laaye
F: na jaaye kahaan dil kho gaya (2)

Rafta Rafta Haule Haule...

One of favorite songs from this film. It's quite a playful song so it's fun watching it too.

Love the music by Vidyasagar and the singers' voices.

Kareena and Akshaye both look fantastic and are great actors.

M: rafta rafta haule haule
dil ko churaayaa tumne
dil ko to pataa bhi na chalaa

F: chori chori chupke chupke
jadoo jagaaya tumne
dil ko to pataa bhi chalaa

M: kabhi haan kabhi naa hum karte rahe
chupke aahe bhi bharte rahe
dekhate dekhate yeh kya ho gayaa

F: ta-ra ra-ra ra-ra ra-ra ra-ra-ra
ra-ra ra-ra ra-ra ra-ra-ra
ra-ra ra-ra ra-ra ra-ra-ra raa

M: rafta rafta haule haule
dil ko churaaya tumne
dil ko to pataa bhi chalaa

F: hm hm hm hm hm
raaton mein ab tera sapna mujhko aata hai haan
ek angdaayi ek bechaini de ke jaata hai

M: teri aankhon ka main deewaanaa hoon
tere hothon ka main paymaanaa hoon
tu yeh jaane na aa aa aa

F: ta-ra ra-ra ra-ra ra-ra ra-ra-ra
ra-ra ra-ra ra-ra ra-ra-ra
ra-ra ra-ra ra-ra ra-ra-ra raa

M: rafta rafta haule haule
dil ko churaaya tumne
dil ko to pataa bhi na chalaa

(awesome music plays here)

M: is pehloo mein is daaman mein mujhko rehna hai
dard judaai ka ek pal bhi ab na sehna hai

F: meri yaadon mein jaan-e-jaan tu hai
meri saanson mein teri khushboo hai
tu hai meri jaan aa aa aa

F: ta-ra ra-ra ra-ra ra-ra ra-ra-ra
ra-ra ra-ra ra-ra ra-ra-ra
ra-ra ra-ra ra-ra ra-ra-ra raa

M: rafta rafta haule haule
dil ko churaaya tumne
dil ko to pataa bhi chalaa

F: chori chori chupke chupke
jaadu chalaaya tumne
dil ko to pataa bhi chalaa

Dekha Jo Tum Ko... Mohabbat Ho Na Jaaye

I watched this movie long back when it came out... didn't like the story or anything except for how Afty looked. :D Didn't like the fact that he played a bad guy but I think that's what gave him that stern look. In any case, he looks dashing! The songs are fun to listen to and this one being one of the nicer ones. Lisa Ray is okay to watch and can't really act.

Nice music by Nadeem Shravan and Sameer's lyrics are nothing too impressive but alright I guess. I still like it though for the music mostly and singers.

M: hey la la la la
la la la la la la...
dekha jo tum ko yeh dil ko kya hua hai
meri dhadkanon pe yeh chhaaya kya nashaa hai haan
F: dekha jo tum ko yeh dil ko kya hua hai
meri dhadkanon pe yeh chhaaya kya nashaa hai haan
M: mohabbat ho na jaaye deewaanaa kho na jaaye
sambhaaloon kaise is ko mujhe tu bataa aa
F: mohabbat ho na jaaye deewaanaa kho na jaaye
sambhaaloon kaise is ko mujhe tu bataa aa

M: dekha jo tum ko yeh dil ko kya hua hai
F: meri dhadkanon pe yeh chhaaya kya nasha hai haan

M: bheegi bheegi alkon se chori chori palkon se
kyon mera sapna churaaye
jhuki jhuki ankhiyon se dheere dheere batiyon se
kyon mujhe apna banaaye
F: meri nazaron pe chhaaya khushboo ke jaise aaya
mera tan-man mehkaaye
saanson mein yeh pal pal jaane kaise hulchul
kuchh bhi samajh mein na aaye
F: sharaarat ho na jaaye mohabbat ho na jaaye
sambhaaloon kaise is ko mujhe tu bataa aa
M: sharaarat ho na jaaye mohabbat ho na jaaye
sambhaaloon kaise is ko mujhe tu bataa aa

F: meri hai yeh mushkil ab to yeh mera dil
bas mein huzoor nahin hai
itna bataa de mujhe kaise samjhaau tujhe
mera yeh kasoor nahin hai
M: chaahe hum chaahe bhi to pehre lagaaye bhi to
kaise din raat ko roke
aag bina yeh jale zor na koyi chale
kaise jazbaat ko roke
M: yooh chaahat ho na jaaye mohabbat ho na jaaye
F: sambhaaloon kaise is ko mujhe tu bataa aa
M: mohabbat ho na jaaye deewaana kho na jaaye
sambhaaloon kaise is ko mujhe tu bataa aa

Tumhe Apna Banaane Ki

Been listening to those songs of 90s again.

This one being a favorite as it got famous among us cousins when D-Bhai & K-Bhabhi got married. We used to sing this and tease them. It sort of became their signature song. We still remember it and laugh about it today after 17 years. Lovely lyrics by Samir and Nadeem Shravan's music. Check it out!

tumhe apna banaane ki kasam khaayi hai khaayi hai (2)
teri aankhon mein chaahat hi nazar aayi hai aayi hai
tumhe apna banaane ki kasam khaayi hai khaayi hai

mohabbat kya hai main sab ko bataa doonga (2)
zamaane ko tere aage jhuka doonga
teri ulfat meri jaana woh rang laayi hai laayi hai (2)
tumhe apna banaane ki kasam khaayi hai khaayi hai

tere hothon se main shabnam churaaunga (2)
tere aanchal tale jeevan bitaaunga
meri nas nas mein tu ban ke lahoo samaayi hai samaayi hai (2)
tumhe apna banaane ki kasam khaayi hai khaayi hai

teri baahon mein hai dono jahaan mere (2)
main kuch bhi to nahin dilbar siva tere
tujhe paa ke zamaane ki khushi paayi hai paayi hai (2)

tumhe apna banaane ki kasam khaayi hai khaayi hai
teri aankhon mein chaahat hi nazar aayi hai aayi hai
tumhe apna banaane ki kasam khaayi hai khaayi hai

Tujhko Na Dekhu To

I know it isn't Father's day or anything but we don't need any day like that to remember special moments spent with our dads, do we? To all the dads and kids out there...

One of my favorite songs of Akshay Kumar.

M: tujhko na dekhu to jee ghabrata hai (2)
dekh ke tujhko dil ko mere chain aata hai (2)
yeh kaisa rishta hai kaisa naata hai (2)
dekh ke tujhko dil ko mere chain aata hai (2)

F: aa aa aa... aa aa aa aa

M: (har gham utha loon tanha akela
tere liye hai khushiyon ka mela) (2)
saara sansaar doon jeevan bhi vaar doon
jitna kahe tu utna main pyaar doon (2)
yeh tera mukhda hi mujhko bhaata hai (2)
dekh ke tujhko dil ko mere chain aata hai (2)

F: (tum mere daddy tum meri maa ho
tum mera dil ho tum meri jaan ho) (2)
bachpan ki dor ka yeh nata tod ke
daddy kabhi mujhe na jaana chhod ke (2)
mere liye tu kitna dard uthaata hai (2)
dekh ke tujhko dil ko mere chain aata hai

Chain Aap Ko Mila...

One of the most beautiful songs of Shaan. And it's such a fun to watch this song... everyone rocks including the singers!

One thing I find so interesting is why Shaan always sings with his mouth in a mile-wide-smile position. I wonder whether he sings a sad song like that too. ;)

First song ever I watched that has "parents" characters of film dancing like this. :P

By the way, if you're wondering, this song initially came in a film named Footpath (2003) and was sung by Asha Bhosle and S.P. Balasubramaniam. Nadeem Shravan then went on to have the same one in Hungama by different singers of course. The first one also had Aftaab Shivdasani. I'll have to watch that song. Too bad the Hungama one doesn't have him in it. But I tell you he looks fantabulous in it with that hot unshaven look in some of the scenes. *faints* Of course, Akshaye also looks very handsome!

M: hey hey hey hey la la la la
hey hey hey hey aa ha ha
hm hm hm hm la la la la
la la la la la la la la la
chain aap ko mila mujhe deewaangi mili
hosh aap ko mila mujhe to bekhudi mili
phir bhi pyaar aap se hi karta hai dil

F: chain aap ko mila mujhe deewaangi mili
ho ho ho hosh aap ko mila mujhe to bekhudi mili
phir bhi pyaar aap se hi karta hai dil
M: chain aap ko mila mujhe deewaangi mili

(chorus)

M: manaaoon to ise main kaise
yeh dil deewaana hai na maane
bataaoon to bhala main kaise
yeh ishq kya hai yeh na jaane
shedaayi main tera hua tujhko nahin hai yeh pata aa aa

F: jaam aap ko mila mujhe to berukhi mili
ho ho ho hosh aap ko mila mujhe to bekhudi mili
phir bhi pyaar aap se hi karta hai dil
M: chain aap ko mila mujhe deewaangi mili

F: koi kisi pe jaan de de
koi kare hai bevafaayi
yeh faaslon ka dard kya hai
yeh jaanti hai bas judaai
tujhse mili jab se nazar deewaani main ho gayi ee ee ee

M: neend aap ko mili mujhe to bebasi mili
haan haan haan hosh aap ko mila mujhe to bekhudi mili
phir bhi pyaar aap se hi karta hai dil
F: chain aap ko mila mujhe deewaangi mili

M: haan haan haan hosh aap ko mila mujhe to bekhudi mili

Bahot Pyaar Karte Hai

Piano songs are beautiful! This one is mine and Papu's favorite. When the two of us are sitting together and listening to songs, this is almost always one of the ones he requests to play along with "chhupaana bhi nahin aata...".

Female:

bahot pyaar karte hai tumko sanam (2)
kasam chaahe le lo (2)
khuda ki kasam
bahot pyaar karte hai tumko sanam (2)

(some awesome sitar plays here)

hamaari ghazal hai tasavvur tumhaara (2) [pay attention to the tabla playing in the background]
tumhaare bina ab na jeena ganvaara (2)
tumhen yoon hi chaahenge (2)
jab tak hai dum
bahot pyaar karte hai tumko sanam (2)

saagar ki baahon mein maujen hai jitni (2)
hum ko bhi tumse mohabbat hai utni (2)
ke yeh beqaraari (2)
na ab hogi kam
bahot pyaar karte hai tumko sanam (2)
kasam chaahe le lo (2)
khuda ki kasam
bahot pyaar karte hai tumko sanam (2)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Male:
bahot pyaar karte hai tum ko sanam (2)
kasam chaahe le lo (2)
khuda ki kasam
bahot pyaar karte hai tum ko sanam
hume har ghadi aarzoo hai tumhaari (2)
hoti hai kaisi sanam beqaraari
milenge jo tum ko to (2)
bataayenge hum
bahot pyaar karte hai tum ko sanam (2)
kasam chaahe le lo (2)
khuda ki kasam
bahot pyaar karte hai tum ko sanam (2)
