Karvate badalte rahe..

One of my most favorite duet songs of Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar. It gives me goosebumps listening to the music. What mesmerizing music! I think it's tabla and sitar and flute doing it. I also hear shehnayi somewhere in between. Could be totally off there.

And Kaka and Mummu have acted so well. Couldn't have been more perfect than it is picturized. Wish I get a chance to watch the movie some day. I don't remember watching the whole thing in one go. I think Door Darshan played it in early 90s on a weekend.

F: ho ho ho..
M: ho.. ho ho
F: ho ho ho
M: hm hm hm..

F: karvate badalte rahe saari raat hum (2)
aap ki kasam (2)
karvate badalte rahe saari raat hum

neend mujhse neend se main bhaagti chhupti rahi
raat bhar bairan nigodi chandni chubhati rahi
aag si jalti rahi girti rahi shabnam
aap ki kasam (2)

M: jheel si aankhon mein aashiq doob ke kho jaayega
zulf ke saaye mein dil armaan bharaa so jaayega
tum chale jaao nahin to kuchh na kuchh ho jaayega
dagmagaa jaayenge aise haal mein kadam
aap ki kasam (2)

F: rooth jaaye hum to tum hum ko manaa lenaa sanam
M: door ho to paas hum ko tum bulaa lenaa sanam
F: kuchh geela ho to gale hum ko lagaa lenaa sanam
Both: toot na jaaye kabhi yeh pyaar ki kasam

Rajesh Khanna. I think the name and I see this person who is loved by all. Or at least that's how I want to see him. It's been three days since he's gone but he lives in his songs, in his films, in his fans, in the people who loved him. For me, he'd always be this hero who stole my heart without me knowing about it. He didn't even do anything but just look. That's who he is. Been thinking about him and listening to his songs and this is the one that summarizes him. Kaka, you've been a legend and will always be remembered so fondly. May you continue to create magic with your eyes wherever you are. God bless you.

maine

sapne surile sapne

(chhoti baatein
chhoti chhoti baaton ki hai yaaden badi
bhule nahin beeti hui ek chhodi ghadi) (2)
janam janam se aankhen bichaayi
tere liye in raahon mein
sapne surile sapne

(bhole bhaale
bhole bhaale dil ko behlaate rahe
tanhaayi mein tere khayaalon ko sajaate rahe) (2)
khabi kabhi to aawaaz de kar
sapne surile sapne

(roothi raate
roothi hui raaton ko manaaya kabhi
tere liye bheegi subah ko bulaaya kabhi) (2)
tere bina bhi tere liye hi
diye jalaaye raahon mein

sapne surile sapne

Aap ki aankhon mein kuchh...

What a gorgeous song! Almost everything except for that smoking and him blowing dhua in her face *disgusting* but I'll overlook that for a bit. What a fun song otherwise. Absolutely love the singers, lyrics and music and both actors. I do have to admit that the lyrics take the cake here, for me at least.

How handsome does Vinod Mehra look. No wonder Rekha fell in love with him. Anyone would. And she too looks absolutely lovely and so simple in the most simple saaris.

(love the music that plays here)

lab hile to mogare ke phool khilte hai kahin (2)

hehehe

Zindagi teri yaadon mein khoyi...

This gem has only been discovered today. It reminds me of so many songs, such as chhod de saari duniya, ek tu na mila, and even a Gujarati garbo koi rajparaa jai ne, and may be even more that I can't recall right now.

What fun it is to discover that it is a piano song! but a sad one at that. I still like it quite a lot. Parveen Babi and Sunil Dutt look great. KA music and Indeevar lyrics make it only better than what Rafi sahab makes it.

I can't believe this is only the first Parveen Babi song on this blog. :O Gotta post more!!!

tu jo nahin koyi meraa
meraa koyi nahin koyi nahin
(zindagi teri yaadon mein khoyi
phir bhi khoyi nahin) (2)

tu jo nahin koyi meraa
meraa koyi nahin koyi nahin
zindagi teri yaadon mein khoyi
phir bhi khoyi nahin

teri chaahat na jab tak milegi (2)
rooh meri bhatakti rahegi
haal meraa agar woh sunenge
mujhpe deewaane bhi ro padenge (2)
haal sun ke meraa phir bhi teri
aankh royi nahin
tu jo nahin koyi meraa
meraa koyi nahin koyi nahin
zindagi teri yaadon mein khoyi
phir bhi khoyi nahin

mar chale the magar jee uthe hum
berukhi se hume toone maaraa
tu hai kaisaa maseehaa humaaraa (2)
jab lagaani na thi paar naiyaa
kyon dubooyi nahin
tu jo nahin koyi meraa
meraa koyi nahin koyi nahin
(zindagi teri yaadon mein khoyi
phir bhi khoyi nahin) (2)

Dil mein tujhe bithaa ke...

Just two days back it was Lata Mangeshkar's 81st birthday. Listening to her songs while driving back from work made me think what would have happened to HFM if it weren't for her. Impossible. That's the word that came to my mind. No one can be like her. So I've been thinking of my most favorite songs of hers. This being one of them, which I have just discovered recently and am completely addicted to it. As for the rest of them, I am thinking to just make a post but I need to find out what criteria to use to narrow down my list to a few than a several hundred.

This immortal melody is penned and composed by Ravindra Jain. This one is based on raag bhimpalasi. No wonder it sounds so melodious.

Long live Lata Mangeshkar!! God bless you, Lataji.

(dil mein tujhe bithaa ke kar loongi main band aankhen
poojaa karoongi teri ho ke rahoongi teri) (2)

main hi main dekhoon tujhe piyaa aur na dekhe koyi (2)
ek pal bhi yeh soch rahe na kis vidhi milna hoi
sabse tujhe bachaa ke kar loongi main band aankhen
poojaa karoongi teri ho ke rahoongi teri

na koyi bandhan jagat kaa koyi pehraa na deewaar (2)
koyi na jaane do deewaane ji bhar kar le pyaar
kadmon mein tere aa ke kar loongi main band aankhen
poojaa karoongi teri ho ke rahoongi teri

(what fabulous sitaar plays here)

teraa hi mukh dekh ke piyaa raat ko main so jaau (2)
bhor bhayi jab aankh khule to tere hi darshan paau
tujhko gale lagaa ke kar loongi main band aankhen
poojaa karoongi teri ho ke rahoongi teri

dil mein tujhe bithaa ke kar loongi main band aankhen
poojaa karoongi teri ho ke rahoongi teri

Maana ho tum behad haseen

If I were to pick my top favorite songs of Yesudas, this one would surely be in top five. I like it so much. Listening to phir chhidi raat with D reminded me of this one for some reason along with tu jo mere sur mein. This one has gotten stuck in my head since.

What a beautiful offbeat sort of song... KJ Yesudas has sung is so beautifully. And that makes me realize I don't have any of my favorite KJY songs posted on here so got to share more of those. Until then, enjoy this number by KJY, Bappida and Kaifi Azmi. Shekhar Kapur looks completely different and Shabana her gorgeous self in this superhot outfit.

(maana ho tum behad haseen
aise boore hum bhi nahin) (2)
dekho kabhi to pyaar se
darte ho kyon iqraar se
maana ho tum behad haseen
aise boore hum bhi nahin

khultaa? nahin kuchh dilrubaa
tum hum se khush ho yaa ho khafaa
tirchhi nazar teekhi adaa
lagte ho kyon bezaar se
dekho kabhi to pyaar se
darte ho kyon iqraar se
maana ho tum behad haseen
aise boore hum bhi nahin

tum do kadam do saath agar
aasaan ho jaaye safar
chhodo bhi yeh duniyaa ka dar
todo na dil inkaar se
(dekho kabhi to pyaar se
darte ho kyon iqraar se
maana ho tum behad haseen
aise boore hum bhi nahin) (2)

Savere Ka Suraj Tumhaare Liye Hai

There is something about this song that stumped me the first time I listened to it today. For some reason, it reminds me of similar to huzoor is kadar, but the high notes and music and lyrics make it a completely different number. The mood is completely different too, quite philosophical. Lyrics is what I love about this one the most along with Kishoreda's voice.

Papu also shared a bit of trivia that both the Mukherjee actors in this one are actually real life brothers. I was surprised to know that. Both look completely different and with totally different fates I should add. Joy being so famous in so many Hindi films where as I don't remember watching Deb in any thing until today. Or may be I didn't notice him because he wasn't that famous. The song is beautiful nevertheless.

hue ek beeti hui baat hum to (2)
koyi aansoo hum par na barbaad karnaa
savere ka sooraj tumhaare liye hai

tumhaare liye hum tumhaare diye hum
lagan ki agan mein abhi tak jale hai

chaman se jo ek phool bichhadaa to kyaa hai (2)
naye gul se gulshan ko aabaad karnaa
savere ka sooraj tumhaare liye hai

chiraag apni dharti ka bujhataa hai jab bhi (2)
sitaare to ambar ke hote nahin hai
koyi naav toofaan mein jab doobeti hai
kinaare to saagar ke hote nahin hai (2)
hai hum dolati naav doobe to kyaa hai (2)
kinaare ho tum tum naa fariyaad karnaa
savere ka sooraj tumhaare liye hai
tumhaare liye hai (5)

Har taraf ab yehi afsaane hai...

I wanted to post this one since a few days since Rajani requested it.

What I like the most about this one is the lyrics. So full of feelings and have such a divine description... Mannada's voice is soulful. I also had a wonderful time watching Raj Kumar in it. Wish it was someone else other than Priya Rajvansh. I don't know why they kept bringing these two in movies together. She must know some big shots to be in so many movies. ;)

The song is beautiful one. Thanks, Rajani, for introducing me to this gem. Please do suggest more of your favorite ones.

har taraf ab yehi afsaane hai (2)
hum teri aankhon ke deewaane hai (2)
har taraf ab yehi afsaane hai (2)

itni sacchaai hai in aankhon mein
khote sikke bhi khare ho jaaye
tu kabhi pyaar se dekhe jo udhar
sukhe jangal bhi hare ho jaaye
baag ban jaaye (2) jo veeraane hai
hum teri aankhon ke deewaane hai
har taraf ab yehi afsaane hai

ek halkaa saa ishaaraa in kaa
kabhi dil aur kabhi jaan lootegaa
kis tarah pyaas bujhegi us ki
kis tarah us kaa nashaa tootegaa
jiski kismat mein (2) yeh paimaane hai
hum teri aankhon ke deewaane hai
har taraf ab yehi afsaane hai

neechi nazaron mein hai kitnaa jaadu
ho gaye pal mein kayi khwaab jawaan
kabhi uthane kabhi jhukne ki adaa
le chali jaane kidhar jaane kahaan
raaste pyaar ke (2) anjaane hai
hum teri aankhon ke deewaane hai (2)
har taraf ab yehi afsaane hai (2)

Yeh albeli pyaar ki raahen...

What I like the most about this one is both of them singing so much together. I've never seen any other song where both the singers sing together for longer times.

Then my second favorite has to be the music. It's so peppy and cheers me up. :)

The locations are so beautiful no wonder they'd feel so happy... what amazes me is the singers have done such a fine justice to it that it just feels so right. Almost like they also sang in these locations.

F: yeh albeli pyaar ki raahen
yeh jaane pehchaane raste
kal bhi the yeh nikhare nikhare
aaj bhi hai yeh hanste hanste

M: aa ha ha ha ha
yeh albeli pyaar ki raahen
yeh jaane pehchaane raste
kal bhi the yeh nikhare nikhare
aaj bhi hai yeh hanste hanste

Both: aa ha ha ha ha
yeh albeli pyaar ki raahen

F: hum tum honge jahaan jahaan
pyaar bhi hoga wahaan wahaan
kehti hai dil ki dhadkan
hum jawaan tum jawaan

M: hum tum honge jahaan jahaan
pyaar bhi hoga wahaan wahaan
kehti hai dil ki dhadkan
hum jawaan tum jawaan (it's so cute how they pause in between this line)

Both: yeh albeli pyaar ki raahen
yeh jaane pehchaane raste
kal bhi the yeh nikhare nikhare
aaj bhi hai yeh hanste hanste
aa ha ha ha ha
yeh albeli pyaar ki raahen

M: jab tak raah dikhaane waali
teri shokh nazar hai
mere saathi mere humdum
pyaara pyaara yeh safar hai

F: jab tak raah dikhaane waali
teri shokh nazar hai
mere saathi mere humdum
pyaara pyaara yeh safar hai

Both: yeh albeli pyaar ki raahen
yeh jaane pehchaane raste
kal bhi the yeh nikhare nikhare
aaj bhi hai yeh hanste hanste
aa ha ha ha ha
yeh albeli pyaar ki raahen

(music here reminds me of ibtadaa-e-ishq mein song)

(M: waadi waadi gulshan gulshan
sang tere rukhsaaron ka
F: tere hi naghme gaaye
boota boota gulzaaron ka) (2)

Both: yeh albeli pyaar ki raahen
yeh jaane pehchaane raste
kal bhi the yeh nikhare nikhare
aaj bhi hai yeh hanste hanste
aa ha ha ha ha
yeh albeli pyaar ki raahen

Yeh din kyaa aaye...

I had completely missed this song while watching the film. While listening to other songs I came across this one and really enjoyed listening to it and watching it. What a beautiful story it is. I loved the film for the fact that I got so annoyed with Asrani character's behavior and felt so sorry for Amol Palekar's character. And it was so satisfying to see the latter get even later on. Just goes to say how well they acted, on direction of Basu Chatterjee of course. :)

This one is sung by Mukesh and beautiful music is by none other than Salil Chaudhary. Lyrics are by Yogesh. First time I heard of this lyricist.

(yeh din kyaa aaye lage phool hansne
dekho basanti basanti hone lage mere sapne) (2)
yeh din kyaa aaye lage phool hansne

(awesome music plays here!)

(sone jaisi ho rahi hai har subah meri
lage har saanjh ab gulaal se bhari) (2)
chalne lagi mehki hui pawan magan jhoom ke
aanchal teraa choom ke
yeh din kyaa aaye lage phool hansne
dekho basanti basanti hone lage mere sapne
yeh din kyaa aaye lage phool hansne

(wahaan mann baanwaraa aaj ud chalaa
jahaan par hai gagan salonaa saanwalaa) (2)
jaa ke wahin rakh de kahin man rango mein khol ke
sapne yeh anmol se
(yeh din kyaa aaye lage phool hansne
dekho basanti basanti hone lage mere sapne) (2)
yeh din kyaa aaye lage phool hansne

(sone jaisi ho rahi hai har subah meri
lage har saanjh ab gulaal se bhari) (2)
chalne lagi mehki hui pawan magan jhoom ke
aanchal teraa choom ke
yeh din kyaa aaye lage phool hansne
dekho basanti basanti hone lage mere sapne
yeh din kyaa aaye lage phool hansne

Chalo dildaar chalo...

Paayal ki chham chham, clap sounds and the haunting echo in their aalaap after second stanza, that's what I love about this one. And visually, absolutely love the waterfalls, floating boat in the moonlight, the moon playing hide and seek with clouds... and the way he holds her. :)

What marvelous lyrics.. and ever since I listened to this one on morning masti (Thursdays and Fridays they've been playing some of the greatest hits, golden oldies, of HFM) this morning and then on a repeat mode later in the evening, I have a hard time picking a favorite from this film: mausam hai aashiqaana or this one?

M: (chalo dildaar chalo chaand ke paar chalo
F: hum hai taiyaar chalo) (2)

aao kho jaaye sitaaron mein kahin (2)
chhod de aaj yeh duniya yeh zameen
duniya yeh zameen
M: chalo dildaar chalo chaand ke paar chalo
F: hum hai taiyaar chalo

hum nashe mein hai sambhaalo hume tum (2)
neend aati hai jagaa lo hume tum
jagaa lo hume tum
M: chalo dildaar chalo chaand ke paar chalo
F: hum hai taiyaar chalo

M: ho ho ho... ho ho ho... ho ho ho ho
F: ho ho ho ho ho... ho ho ho ho...

zindagi khatm bhi ho jaaye agar (2)
na kabhi khatm ho ulfat ka safar
ulfat ka safar
M: (chalo dildaar chalo chaand ke paar chalo
F: hum hai taiyaar chalo) (3)

Panthi hoon main us path ka...

This is probably the best song of Kishore Kumar or so I feel. I've never heard a song of him like this one... it's out of this world, the music, lyrics and the voice.. waah waah Kishoreda, kya baat hai! You truly do fall in the same class as Saigal, Rafi and other singers. Hats off!

The song has been written, produced, directed and composed by him.

(panthi hoon main us path kaa ant nahin jiskaa
aas meri hai jiski dishaa aadhaar mere man kaa) (2)
panthi hoon main us path kaa

is path par dekhe kitne sukh dukh ke mele (2)
phool chune kabhi khushiyon ke (2)
kabhi kaaton se khele
jaane kab tak chalnaa hai mujhe is jeevan ke saath
panthi hoon main us path kaa ant nahin jiska
aas meri hai jiski dishaa aadhaar mere man kaa
panthi hoon main us path kaa

sangi saathi mere andhiyaare ujiyaare
mujhko raah dikhaaye palchhin ke phulzaare
pathik mere path ke sab taare aur neelaa aakaash
panthi hoon main us path kaa ant nahin jiskaa
aas meri hai jiski dishaa aadhaar mere man kaa
panthi hoon main us path kaa ant nahin jiskaa

Tumhaare bin guzaare hai

Discovered this beautiful duet while I was listening to some oldies. This song is definitely based on a raag but I don't know which one. I'll have to look up my music notes for that but until then, I'm hooked to this one. What a lovely song... absolutely love the playfulness in it and the voices of the singers. The song makes me want to watch the movie. Never heard of it until today. Shankar Jaikishan's music is entirely lovely. I like Vidya Sinha in this one.

jo dil mein aa gayi hai aaj hum woh kar hi guzrenge
M: khabar kyaa thi ke apne bhi sitaare aise bigadenge (2)
ke jo pooja ke kaabil hai wohi yoon rang badlenge

nahin maloom tha ke aap yoon inkaar kar denge
M: tumhe kaise bataaye kya humaare saath guzari hai
tumhaare khwaab tootenge agar sach baat keh denge
jo dil mein aa gayi hai aaj hum woh kar hi guzrenge

bahut tarsaaya hai tumne nahin ab aur tarsenge
M: sataaya to nahin karte kabhi kismat ke maaro ko
kisi ki jaan jaayegi kisi ke armaan nikalenge
jo dil mein aa gayi hai aaj hum woh kar hi guzrenge
aa aa aa.. aa aa.. aa aa aa aa...

manaaya tum ko kitni baar lekin tum nahin maane
to ab majboor ho kar hum sharaarat par bhi utrenge
M: haqiqat kyaa hai yeh pehle bataa dete to acchha thaa
jo dil mein aa gayi hai aaj hum woh kar hi guzrenge

Tere Is Pyaar Ka Shukriya Mere Meherbaan

Just discovered this romantic melody recently... and what makes it even better is the fact that it's a piano & party song.

Rafi sahab's voice is so much fun to listen to... I've been listening to this one on repeat since last week.

Love Dutta sahab's music. I wonder whether he's related to JP Dutta.

aaj in haathon mein phir se zindagi hai saaz hai
kya kahoon aye husn tujh par kitna mujhko naaz hai

tere is pyaar ka shukriya mere meherbaan (2)
mere meherbaan (2)

(socha na tha kabhi itni haseen bhi
hoti hai zindagi aye jaan-e-jaan) (2)
tere is pyaar ka shukriya mere meherbaan (2)
mere meherbaan (2)

(maana ke zindagi kaaton mein hai pali
phoolon se hai bhari meri daastaan) (2)
tere is pyaar ka shukriya mere meherbaan (2)
mere meherbaan (2)

(tu hai to raat kya darne ki baat kya
taaron se hai bharaa mera aasmaan) (2)
tere is pyaar ka shukriya mere meherbaan (2)
mere meherbaan (2)

Mere Naina Saawan Bhaadon...

Papu and I were listening to the 70s songs together and first one that we listened to together was this one. What a haunting melody! I love both versions but I'm more partial towards Kishore Kumar's version. I don't know what it is about that version, it's like magnet. This one is based on raag shivranjani.

M: hmm hmm aha ha ha

mere nainaa saawan bhaandon
phir bhi meraa man pyaasaa (2)

mere nainaa saawan bhaandon
phir bhi meraa man pyaasaa (2)

aye dil deevaane khel hai kyaa jaane
dard bharaa yeh geet kahaan se
in honthon pe aaye door kahin le jaaye
bhool gayaa kyaa bhool ke bhi hai
mujhko yaad zaraa saa
phir bhi meraa man pyaasaa

baat puraani hai ek kahaani hai
ab sochu tumhe yaad nahin hai
ab sochu nahin bhoole
woh saawan ke jhoole
rutu aaye rut jaaye de kar
jhoothaa ek dilaasaa
phir bhi meraa man pyaasaa

barso beet gaye hum ko mile bichhade
bijuri ban kar gagan pe chamki
beete samay ki rekhaa
maine tum ko dekhaa
man sang aankh-micholi khele
aashaa aur niraashaa
phir bhi meraa man pyaasaa

mere nainaa saawan bhaandon
phir bhi meraa man pyaasaa (3)

F:
ho ho ho.. ho ho... ho ho ho ho...

mere nainaa saawan bhaandon
phir bhi meraa man pyaasaa (2)

ho ho ho.. ho ho... ho ho ho ho...

baat puraani hai ek kahaani hai
ho baat puraani hai
ab sochu tumhe yaad nahin hai
ab sochu nahin bhoole
woh saawan ke jhoole
rutu aaye rut jaaye de ke
jhoothaa ek dilaasaa
phir bhi meraa man pyaasaa

ho ho ho.. ho ho... ho ho ho...

barso beet gaye hum ko mile bichhade
bijuri ban kar gagan pe chamki
beete samay ki rekhaa
maine tum ko dekhaa
tadap tadap ke is birhan ko
aaya chain zaraa sa
phir bhi meraa man pyaasaa

ghoonghroo ki chham chham
ban gayi dil kaa gham
doob gayaa dil yaadon mein
ubhari berang lakeeren
dekho yeh tasveeren
soone mehel mein naach rahi hai
ab tak ek rakkaasaa phir bhi
phir bhi meraa man pyaasaa

Dil mein kisi ke pyaar ka...

The goodness of 70s is going to prevail around here for a while. We've got the 70s week coming up!

I had only overheard this song until today... and when I listened to it, I realized what a wonderful song it was. Too bad they only have single stanza for Kishore Kumar's version, but it's delicious nevertheless! Both songs are beautiful... but one gives a philosophical romantic mood while the other playful romantic.

Leena C. looks gorgeous in a white maxi dress (how did they go out of style again?) in the female version of the song and Sharmila sensual in the male version of this rainy song. I wonder which one comes first in the story. In the male version, we also get a glimpse of a very handsome Ashok Kumar. It must feel so different to have close family members work with you... I was thinking that about Kishore Kumar singing, Leena Chandavarkar acting in the film along with Ashok Kumar...

Thanks to such marvelous singers, lovely work of music director and God knows how many more musicians along with the lyricist we get to enjoy double the goodness of this creation!

(dil mein kisi ke pyaar kaa jaltaa hua diyaa

seene mein dil ke saath dhadakta rahegaa yeh
dhadakta rahegaa yeh
woh naqsh kyaa huaa jo mitaaye se mit gayaa
woh dard kyaa huaa jo dabaaye se dab gayaa
dil mein kisi ke pyaar kaa jaltaa hua diyaa

ab woh karam kare ke sitam unkaa faislaa
hum ne to dil mein pyaar kaa sholaa jalaa liyaa
dil mein kisi ke pyaar kaa jaltaa hua diyaa

Tum Mujhe Yoon Bhula Na Paaoge

It is Rafi sahab's 85th birthday tomorrow. This song of his in his memory... wish he was still with us.

May he find peace wherever he is.

The best singer of HFM!

Male version:

tum mujhe yoon bhula na paaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon bhula na paaoge
jab kabhi bhi sunoge geet mere
sang sang tum bhi gungunaaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon bhula na paaoge
ho tum mujhe yoon

(woh bahaaren woh chaandani raaten
jab khayaalon mein mujhko laaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon bhula na paaoge
ho tum mujhe yoon

(mere haathon mein teraa chehra tha
jaise koyi gulaab hota hai) (2)
aur sahaara liya tha baahon ka
woh samaa kis taraah bhulaaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon bhula na paaoge
ho tum mujhe yoon

(mujhko dekhe bina qaraar na tha
ek aisa bhi daur guzraa hai) (2)
jhooth maano to puchh lo dil se
main kahoonga to rooth jaaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon bhula na paaoge

Female version:

tum mujhe yoon bhula na paaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon bhula na paaoge
jab kabhi bhi sunoge geet mere
sang sang tum bhi gungunaaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon bhula na paaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon

(beeti baaton ka kuchh khayaal karo
kuchh to bolo kuchh hum se baat karo) (2)
raaz-e-dil main tumhe bataa doongi
main tumhaari hoon maan jaaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon bhula na paaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon

(meri khaamoshiyon ko samjho tum
zindagi yaad mein guzaari hai) (2)
main miti hoon tumhaari chaahat mein
aur kitna mujhe mitaaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon bhula na paaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon

(dil hi dil mein tum hi se pyaar kiya
apne jeevan ko bhi nisaar kiya) (2)
kaun tadapaa tumhaari raahon mein
jab yeh sochoge jaan jaaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon bhula na paaoge
jab kabhi bhi sunoge geet mere
sang sang tum bhi gungunaaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon bhula na paaoge
haan tum mujhe yoon

Jingle Bells... Aao Tumhe Chaand Pe Le Jaaye...

Merry Xmas everyone! Found just a perfect song... it's really a sweet one.

LM: (jingle bells jingle bells
jingle all the way
santa claus is coming along
riding on a sleigh)
la la la...
la la la...
la la la la la...

Girl: yeh santa claus ka ghar kahan hai
AP: chand pe
Girl: hume bhi wahan le chaliye na
AP: achha?

LM: (aao tumhe chaand pe le jaaye
pyaar bhare sapne sajhaaye
chhota sa bangla banaaye
ek nayi duniya basaaye
ho ho) (2)
aao tumhe chaand pe le jaaye

pyaar ki hai duniya door aasmaan pe
mil ke na bichhade koi wahaan pe
aisi bhi ek dagar hai
aisa bhi ek nagar hai (here I am reminded of ek pyaar ka naghma hai)
ho ho ho
aao tumhe chaand pe le jaaye
pyaar bhare sapne sajhaaye
chhota sa bangla banaaye
ek nayi duniya basaaye
ho ho
aao tumhe chaand pe le jaaye

gham jahaan soye aur khushi jaage
aaj ki hai manzil taaron se aage
dil wahaan rote nahin hai
aansoo to hote nahin hai
ho ho ho
aao tumhe chaand pe le jaaye
pyaar bhare sapne sajhaaye
chhota sa bangla banaaye
ek nayi duniya basaaye

Mausam hai aashiqaana...

Yet again, it's one of those songs that has the last stanza of the song starting off entirely differently than the rest of the stanzas. One of my favorite songs of Pakeezah and the one I never get bored of listening to or watching. Goosebumpy music of Ghulam Mohammad and out of this world lyrics by none other than Kamal Amrohi sahab. I didn't know his whole name was Syed Anwar Hyder Kamal Amrohi. He's the same one who has also penned kahin ek maasoom naazuk si ladki.

The best part is I was able to find the extended clip of this song on youtube with the scene and dialogs before the song starts. I really do wish the clip had the music after the song completes... the one where Raj Kumar comes riding on horseback and is awestruck to see her asleep in his tent for the first time; she's awake yet pretends to be asleep and mumbles the dialog "ya allah.." (or something like that). What classy movies they used to make back then...

Him: yeh phir ek barasti hui raat hai... aur main safar mein hoon. mere siva compartment mein aur koi nahin... lekin... us saamne wale berth par meri ek suhaani yaad phir karvat badal rahi hai aur mehndi se racha hua wohi haseen paanv mujhe aaj bhi baar baar dans raha hai... yeh kya hai? is kaifiyat ka naam kya hai?

Her: mohabbat!

mausam hai aashiqaana
aye dil kahin se unko
aise mein dhoondh laana (2)

mausam hai aashiqaana
aye dil kahin se unko
aise mein dhoondh laana (2)

mausam hai aashiqaana

kehna ke rut jawaan hai aur hum taras rahe hai
kaali ghataa ke saaye birahan ko dans rahe hai
dar hai na maar daale
saawan ka kya thikaanaa (2)
mausam hai aashiqaana

sooraj kahin bhi jaaye
tum par na dhoop aaye (2)
aa aa aa
tum ko pukaarte hai in gesuon ke saaye
aa jaao main banaa doon
palkon ka shaamiyaanaa (2)
mausam hai aashiqaana

phirte hai hum akele baahon mein koyi le le
aakhir koyi kahaan tak tanhaaiyon se khele
din ho gaye hai zaalim
raaten hai qaatilaana (2)
mausam hai aashiqaana

aa aa aa...
yeh raat yeh khaamoshi
yeh khaab se nazaare (2)
jugnu hai yaa zameen par utare hue hai taare
bekhaab meri aankhen (2)
madhosh hai zamaana (2)

mausam hai aashiqaana
aye dil kahin se unko
aise mein dhoondh laana (2)

mausam hai aashiqaana...

Deewaane Hai Deewaanon Ko

It's amazing to be able to analyze the lyrics and music of favorite songs, and if you can do that on a daily basis, it's even more fun... that's how we remembered this one today. The lyrics are so beautiful and fun to hum along with the song and sweet voices of Lataji and Rafi sahab just add to the charm.

When I first watched this film almost a decade ago, it was amazing to discover that the actor is none other than the lyricist himself. Now we don't get to see that often in HFM, do we?

mohabbat bhari ek nazar chaahiye nazar chaahiye
F: jawaani mein jawaani ke sahaare ho jawaan mere meherbaan
mujhe tu hi tu humsafar chaahiye humsafar chaahiye
Both: deewaane hai deewaano ko na ghar chaahiye
mohabbat bhari ek nazar chaahiye nazar chaahiye

M: hai sar pe humaare khulaa aasmaan khulaa aasmaan (2)
F: hamaare liye hai yehi aashiyaan yehi aashiyaan
M: bina pyaar ke zindagi kuchh nahin (2)
jahaan pyaar hai har khushi hai wahin
F: ho phoolon bhari chaahe chaahe kaanton bhari haan kaanton bhari
chale jis pe tu woh dagar chaahiye dagar chaahiye

mohabbat bhari ek nazar chaahiye nazar chaahiye

M: nigaahon mein aise ishaare hue ishaare hue (2)
F: ke dil ne kahaa hum tumhaare hue tumhaare hue
M: nazar ban gayi hai zubaan pyaar mein (2)
mazaa aa gayaa jeet kaa haar mein
F: milega wohi maangoge jo dildaar se magar pyaar se
duwaaon mein apni asar chaahiye asar chaahiye

mohabbat bhari ek nazar chaahiye nazar chaahiye
jawaani mein jawaani ke sahaare ho jawaan mere meherbaan
mujhe tu hi tu humsafar chaahiye humsafar chaahiye
