Humi se mohabbat humi se ladaayi

You don't see Dilip Kumar in this mood too often. I am having such a fun time watching him in Leader doing all the crazy things that are more of signature adaayen for say Shammi Kapoor or even Dharmendra. And Vijayantimala has been in too many serious roles so this one was a fresh change to see. I'm still half a way through the movie but couldn't get over this song so kept listening to it. Naushadji's music is gorgeous and so are the lyrics of Shakeel Badayuni sahab along with Rafi sahab's mischievous singing.

badi khubsoorat nazar aa rahi ho
yeh jee chaahta hai ke khud jaan de doon (2)
mohabbat mein aaye na tum par buraayi
arre maar daala duhaayi duhaayi

hume husn ki har adaa hai ganvaara
haseenon ka gussa bhi lagta hai pyaara
udhar tum ne teer-e-nazar dil pe maara (2)
idhar hum ne bhi jaan kar chot khaayi
humi se mohabbat humi se ladaayi (check out how she stomps his foot here.. hahaha!)

ho oo oo... ho oo oo...

abhi na samajh ho uthaao na khanjar (2)
kahin mud na jaaye tumhaari kalaayi
arre maar daala duhaayi duhaayi

Saiyaan Dil Mein Aana Re

The tunes of this song have been my favorite ringtone ever since I can remember... and I finally remembered to watch it. :) Wow! and what a beautiful voice of Shamshad Begum and Vyjayantimala looks so cute and adorable. Love her costumes and just about everything about her in this one. Catchy beat makes me love it even more and lyrics are playful too!

saiyaan dil mein aana re
aa ke phir na jaana re
oh aa ke phir na jaana re
chham chhamaa chham chham

raaja ban ke aana re
mohe le jaana re
ho mohe le ke jaana re
chham chhamaa chham chham

chaandani raat hogi taaron ki baraat hogi (2)
pehle pehle pyaar ki pehli pehli baat hogi (2)
khushi khushi gaayenge hum geet suhaana re
saiyaan dil mein aana re
aa ke phir na jaana re
ho aa ke phir na jaana re
chham chhamaa chham chham

thodi thodi sahel hogi thoda thoda pyaar hoga (2)
kabhi iqraar hoga kabhi inkaar hoga (2)
tera manaana mera rooth jaana re
saiyaan dil mein aana re
aa ke phir na jaana re
ho aa ke phir na jaana re
chham chhamaa chham chham

tum mere paas hoge gham badi door hoga (2)
kehta hai jiya mera hoga zuroor hoga (2)
laana re laana tashreef laana re
saiyaan dil mein aana re
aa ke phir na jaana re
o aa ke phir na jaana re
chham chhamaa chham chham

raaja ban ke aana re
mohe le jaana re
ho mohe le ke jaana re
chham chhamaa chham chham

Badan Pe Sitaare Lapete Hue

Animal charm at it's best!! I believe only Shammi Kapoor can pull this one off, no one, I repeat, no one in Bollywood has an ability to act like this and still look respectful, handsome, charming, adorable yet romantic.

The very first time I heard this one was when I was probably 8 or so. It was an annual function at a college. Our family friend's son used to live in dorms and attended college in town and visited us often as he didn't have any family near by. He invited the whole family to attend the annual day at his college. Since that day, I longed for attending college, not for anything but just those annual days. *sigh* they're just so much fun. That was probably the only one I have ever attended in my entire life and a most memorable one at that. I used to think Vyjayantimala looked like a princess in that red saari and adored her immensely back then, but she still looks great here; at the same time, I think she has looked better.

badan pe sitaare lapete hue
o jaane tamanna kidhar jaa rahi ho
zaraa paas aao to chain aa jaaye (2)

badan pe sitaare lapete hue
o jaane tamanna kidhar jaa rahi ho
zaraa paas aao to chain aa jaaye (2)

hum hi jab naa honge to aye dilrubaa
kise dekhkar haaye sharmaaogi
naa dekhogi phir tum kabhi aainaa
hamaare binaa roz ghabraaogi
badan pe sitaare lapete hue
o jaane tamanna kidhar jaa rahi ho
zaraa paas aao to chain aa jaaye (2)

hai banane sanvarne kaa jab hi mazaa
koi dekhne waalaa aashiq to ho
nahin to ye jalwe hai bujhte diye
koi mitne waalaa ek aashiq to ho
badan pe sitaare lapete hue
o jaane tamanna kidhar jaa rahi ho
zaraa paas aao to chain aa jaaye (2)

mohabbat ki yeh intehaa ho gayi
ki masti mein tumko khudaa keh gayaa
zamaanaa yeh insaaf kartaa rahe
buraa keh gayaa yaa bhalaa keh gayaa
badan pe sitaare lapete hue
o jaane tamanna kidhar jaa rahi ho
zaraa paas aao to chain aa jaaye (2)

badan pe sitaare lapete hue
o jaane tamanna kidhar jaa rahi ho
zaraa paas aao to chain aa jaaye (2)

Dost dost na rahaa

Speaking of famous piano songs, one can't forget this one. Just an awesome drama and just this one song summarizes the entire storyline.

SJ's soulful music, and the melancholic voice of Mukesh are fantastic. I still wonder how these lyricists come up with these songs, so deep and so meaningful.

Rajendra Kumar and Vaijayantimala make a stunning pair!

Songs like these make you realize how Raj Kapoor was partial for songs based on raag bhairavi. Just awesome how so many songs from this film are based on that same raag.

(the way their eyes communicate here is just awesome! what fantastic direction!)
