Dil yeh duaa de rahaa hai sanam...

When I heard this song today while driving, first thing that caught my attention was the music and of course the beautiful lyrics. I have a feeling it's raag bhimpalasi. I could be totally wrong, but the way I have been wanting to listen to it over and over again says it's definitely classical and more so bhimpalasi based song. In any case, so then the evening was spent looking at the video of the song. It makes me want to watch this movie now.

What beautiful music Jatin-Lalit make and the lyrics go perfectly with the raag of the song. I am loving it!!


Mahima makes such a good actor for slow romantic songs. Reminds me of another song of hers, which I think I should post on here. Ajay Devgan looks handsome too I think and perfect to match Mahima's role.

Tum hi hamaari ho manzil my love

Some songs never get old. This one is an example of that. I don't remember listening to the actual song with so much enthusiasm as I remember listening to my elder cousin brother singing it. And also, bin tere sanam was more famous than this so I sort of just bypassed this when it came to listening to the actual words and music of this one. Today, big brother shared the new picturized version of it and it was an instant love! The song reminds me of my other favorite songs from the early 90s, like jaati hoon main, kaahe sataaye kaahe ko rulaaye, and other songs of Jaan Tere Naam. I'm totally going crazy for this one now. Love Majrooh sahab's penned words and Jatin-Lalit's musical magic. I think even the singers do a good job. Listening to both the versions of the song made me realize how much technology and audio editing process have changed in last 20 years. Amazing!

This time in India, I got to listen to so many of my favorite songs from the 90s that I almost felt like I was taken back to my teenage years. Thanks to Sbhai, for still keeping them all on his lappy... I not only got to listen to them but watch them too! I can't stop humming my favorite ones from back then and this one is one of them. I stumbled upon this song again today after years. I am getting to listen to the best of 90s songs these days. It's amazing to rediscover these forgotten gems with upbeat music. Songs like these just add so much life to a day.

Javed Akhtar is the king of romance, in my view. What great lyrics has he penned... It's amazing!

Yet again, I'm back to the 90s. Just can't get enough. This one too, tops the list but there's so many good ones I don't know where to place them. Jatin Lalit were the most famous ones at the time, it looks like and gave nice melodies as well. Makes of want to just sit there gazing out the window listening to songs like these. And once again Jatin-Lalit show their charm in this one. It's probably a flop movie but this romantic duet by Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan is sweet. May be because the lyrics are by Neeraj the words have such magic. It's a feel good song, and upbeat music cheers you up! If you notice, you'd hear that hint of "pehla nasha pehla khumar..." music in between the stanzas.
