Do Ghadi Woh Jo Paas Aa Baithe

Been listening to songs with outstanding abhinay by the artists. This was among of my favorites for the lyrics and music along with the acting/abhinay of both of these actors. First time ever I actually liked Bharat Bhushan and Madhubala looks so innocent with such expressive eyes. Truly gorgeous! As usual, the music/tunes of this song remind me of some other song but I can't pinpoint to which one...

M:: do ghadi woh jo paas aa baithe (2)
F:: hum zamaane se door ja baithe (2)
Both:: do ghadi woh jo paas aa baithe

M:: (bhool ki un ka hum-naseen ho ke
royenge dil ko umra-bhar kho ke) (2)
haaye kya cheez thi loota baithe
Both:: do ghadi woh jo paas aa baithe

F:: (dil ko ek din zaroor jaana tha
wahin pahooncha jahaan thikaana tha) (2)
dil wohi dil jo dil mein jaa baithe
Both:: do ghadi woh jo paas aa baithe

M:: (ek dil hi tha gham-gusaar apnaa
meherbaan khaas raazdaar apnaa) (2)
gair ka kyon use banaa baithe
Both:: do ghadi woh jo paas aa baithe

F:: (gair bhi to koyi haseen hogaa
dil yoon hi de diyaa nahin hogaa) (2)
dekh kar kuchh to chot khaa baithe

Both:: do ghadi woh jo paas aa baithe
hum zamaane se door ja baithe
do ghadi woh jo paas aa baithe

Zindagi bhar nahin bhoolegi...

I just discovered the duet of this song today while searching for the video of the male version. Can't believe I hadn't listened to the second version of this song.. HFM has so many goodies that I think one life time isn't enough to enjoy them all. ;) In any case, I am happy that I got to watch this song today too. Madhubala looks adorable and Bharat Bhushan quite handsome (that's given the fact that I've never found him handsome until I watched this song, yup, not even in Jahan Ara). Any how, music is beautiful and actually makes us feel we are standing at the windowsill watching the raindrops fall on our face. Lyrics are also quite romantic and very meaningful. Love this one!

F: zindagi bhar nahin bhoolegi woh barsaat ki raat
ek anjaan musafir se mulaqaat ki raat
zindagi bhar nahin bhoolegi

haaye jis raat mere dil ne dhadakna seekha
shauq jazbaat ne seene mein bhadakna seekha
meri taqdeer se nikali wohi (2) sadmaat ki raat
zindagi bhar nahin bhoolegi woh barsaat ki raat
zindagi bhar nahin bhoolegi

dil ne jab pysar ke rangeen fasaane chhede
aankhon aankhon mein wafaaon ke taraane chhede
sog mein doob gaye aaj woh (2) naghmaat ki raat
zindagi bhar nahin bhoolegi

M: roothne waali

Both: zindagi bhar nahin bhoolegi

~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~
M: zindagi bhar nahin bhoolegi woh barsaat ki raat
ek anjaan haseena se mulaqaat ki raat
zindagi bhar nahin bhoolegi
haaye woh reshmi zulfon se barasta paani (2)
phool se gaalon pe rukne ko tarasta paani
dil mein toofan uthaate hue
dil mein toofan uthaate hue jazbaat ki raat
zindagi bhar nahin bhoolegi
dar ke bijali se achaanak woh lipatna uska
aur phir sharm se balkha ke simatna uska
kabhi dekhi na suni aisi ho
kabhi dekhi na suni aisi tilismaat ki raat
zindagi bhar nahin bhoolegi
surkh aanchal ko dabaa kar jo nichoda usne (2)
dil pe jalta hua ek teer sa chhoda usne
aag paani mein lagaate hue (2) haalaat ki raat
zindagi bhar nahin bhoolegi
mere naghmon mein jo basti hai woh tasveer thi woh
naujawaani ke haseen khwaab ki taabeer thi woh
aasmaanon se utar aayi ho
aasmaanon se utar aayi thi jo raat ki raat
zindagi bhar nahin bhoolegi woh barsaat ki raat
zindagi bhar nahin bhoolegi
Mehfil Mein Jal Uthi Shamaa
One of my favorite songs of Chitalkar & Lataji. I was quite pleasantly surprised to see it's actually picturized on Madhubala. :)
mehfil mein jal uthi shamaa
(mehfil mein jal uthi shamaa parvaane ke liye
preet bani hai duniya mein mar jaane ke liye) (2)
chaaron taraf lagaaye phere phir bhi har dum door rahe
ulfat dekho aag bani hai milne se majhboor rahe
yehi sazaa hai duniya mein
yehi sazaa hai duniya mein deewaane ke liye
preet bani hai duniya mein mar jaane ke liye
mehfil mein jal uthi shamaa parvaane ke liye
preet bani hai duniya mein mar jaane ke liye
marne ka hai naam mohabbat jalne ka hai naam jawaani
patthar dil hai sun ne waale kehne waala aankh ka paani
aansoo aaye aankhon mein
aansoo aaye aankhon mein gir jaane ke liye
preet bani hai duniya mein mar jaane ke liye
mehfil mein jal uthi shamaa parvaane ke liye
preet bani hai duniya mein mar jaane ke liye
Prem Jogan Ban Ke
One of the most classic and romantic songs I've ever watched or listened to. I can't decipher most of the lyrics so I'm going to skip that for this song.
An interesting and informative quote by amit on Chowk: Life: Top Ten South Asian Pieces of Music:
Actually the Bade Ghulam Ali song in Mugal-e-Azam (Prem Jogan Ban Ke) is in Raag Sohni rather than Darbari. The seduction scene of Dilip Kumar and Madhubala was shot earlier. Khan saheb wanted to view the scene while singing for it. Hence his voice modulation is timed closely with the actual movements on the screen. It is truly a masterpiece.
ps. I have a video clip of color version of this song. Will put it up as soon as possible. Until then enjoy the b/w one.
Color video has been added!
