Dil mein tujhe bithaa ke...

Just two days back it was Lata Mangeshkar's 81st birthday. Listening to her songs while driving back from work made me think what would have happened to HFM if it weren't for her. Impossible. That's the word that came to my mind. No one can be like her. So I've been thinking of my most favorite songs of hers. This being one of them, which I have just discovered recently and am completely addicted to it. As for the rest of them, I am thinking to just make a post but I need to find out what criteria to use to narrow down my list to a few than a several hundred.

This immortal melody is penned and composed by Ravindra Jain. This one is based on raag bhimpalasi. No wonder it sounds so melodious.

Bala ka husn gazab ka...

Just got to watch this film recently and I've yet again become a fan of yet another Rajshri film. They've done a wonderful job with this one and music is just fantabulous! I can't stop listening to this one and "kya soch ke aaye the" along with "lo ji hum aa gaye" and of course "jhirmir jhirmir meha barse". Oh and "dekhe akele" is also very beautiful.. can't wait to watch the film again soon.

It's great fun to listen to a ghazal, a qawwali and numerous other romantic songs and a bhajan. Ravindra Jain rocks! Shreya gives voice for Eesha and Shaan's the voice of Sonu, wish they'd taken Sonu Nigam for him though.. but still Shaan's not bad. And Suresh Wadkar sings the songs for Rajshri's all time favorite dad - Alok Nath. Don't miss this album and the film!

Jai Gauri Maa

This was probably one song of Vivah that I didn't remember while watching the movie because it played in background and I was too busy watching the actors than paying attention to songs. Later on, when I was listening to the audio of Vivah, I realized how beautiful this song was. And why won't it be? It's devotional and reminds you of none other bhajan than "Raam Siya Raam Siya Raam Jai Jai Raam" aka Ramayan Chaupayan for both of then are based on same raaga. Both total goose-bumpy songs! This just tells us Ravindra Jain is a true Ram bhakt. :)

While searching for this song's video online, I couldn't find the video, but I did find something else that was really interesing. Believe it or not, there's another song with exact same words from film Diwani (not sure of the year of release), music directed by H. C. Bali and lyrics are of Dina Nath Madhok. I wonder whether it would sound the same as this one. Hmm... why didn't Ravindra Jain give credit to the original lyricist then? I also wondered whether Pamela Jain was any way related to Ravindra Jain. Lots of questions in my mind.

The song is very beautiful and one can never get tired of listening to this devotional number praising Goddess Parvati.
