Hearing the news about Pransahab's passing, I couldn't think of any better song than this to share. The naked truth and bitter reality of life. Mannada has sung is so beautifully. Especially the aalaap in the words that get repeated twice... so very emotional.

Thrilled for they awarded him with the Dadasaheb Phalke award in 2012. Rest in peace, dear Pransahab. Om Shanti.

One of the songs I grew up listening to never knowing a thing about music or movies. It's amazing how childhood memories stay with us... forever. :) Love love love this song. Now I know why, it's because it has been made my Hasrat Jaipuri, Shankar Jaikishan and Lata-Mukesh combo.

Lag Jaa Gale Ke Phir...

This was one of those songs that I got to hear from my neighbor when I was a kid. She was a teenager then and loved Lata songs to death. I didn't become a fan instantly but it was a gradual process because later on I got to hear some more ridiculous voices in the industry and realized how sweet this lady sounded, who later I found out was none other than Lata ji. :)

In fact, now that I think of it, she was a bigger fan of the Madan Mohan and Lata songs than just Lata songs. The haunting music is amazing!

Sadhana looks so beautiful and Manoj Kumar very handsome in this one.

One of those rare Manoj Kumar songs that is not sung by Mahendra Kapoor but Mohd. Rafi... wow! how cool is that! The epitome of romantic songs!

And what lyrics... though I have to admit that the first time I had started listening to this song I was like whoa! what was Sahirji drinking before he wrote this one? ;) but then when I heard the last stanza, I realized how beautiful the meaning of the song was and and I totally fell in love with the song. The music is beautiful and Rafisahab's voice completely enticing! The way he has sung the song, you feel each and every one of those emotions that are conveyed by the lyrics.

All of those musical instruments playing in the background and with the song (goodness! did you notice how many different kinds are actually playing!?! it's just too many) just add to the beauty of the song.
