Jeevan Dor Tumhi Sang Baandhi

Raag Yaman Kalyan has been one of my favorite ones in recent times and subconsciously or otherwise I keep humming songs that are based on this raag so today as I sat down to listen to all of these songs on youtube, and discovered this beautiful melody by none other than Lata Mangeshkar. Oh how I wish I can go to Mumbai and meet her once. Just once. I'd feel more blessed. The song is out of this world and it's thanks to LP music. Bharat Vyas has penned this one. Wish I also got to see the video of the song... absolutely love everything about this one!

jeevan dor tumhi sang baandhi (2)
kya toDenge is bandhan ko
jag toofaan aandhi re aandhi

ho na sake kabhi hum tum nyaare (2)
do tan hai ek praaN hamaare
chaahe mile path mein andhiyaare
chaahe ghire ho baadal saare
phir bhi rahoongi tumhaari tumhaari
jeevan dor tumhi sang baandhi
jeevan dor

(so love the violins here!)

yoon ghul-mil rehna jeevan mein
jaise rahe kajra akhiyan mein
teri chhabi chhaayi rahe man mein
tera hi naam rahe dhadkan mein
tere daras ki main pyaasi re pyaasi
jeevan dor tumhi sang baandhi (2)

kaisa mujhe vardaan mila hai (2)
tum kya mile bhagwaan mila hai
ab to janam bhar sang rahega
is mehndi ka rang rahega
tere charaN ki main daasi re daasi
jeevan dor tumhi sang baandhi (2)

Raam Tu Sab Ka Rakhwala

A bhajan I heard on Rafi Ka Jaadoo recordings.

raam tu sab ka rakhwala (2)
jab jab bhi yeh man ghabraya (2)
toone ?? sambhala
ho raam tu sab ka rakhwala

soone aangan dwaar sajaa de (2)
humri bigdi baat banaa de
muskaane waapas lauta de
lene wala tu na kehla (2)
tu hai dene wala
ho raam tu sab ka rakhwala
raam tu sab ka rakhwala

ho ho ho
aa aa aa

yeh vishwaas ki jyot jagaaye (2)
hum tere mandir mein aaye
aas ka deepak toot na jaaye
yeh andhiyaari rain churaa ke (2)
le na jaaye ujaala
ho raam tu sab ka rakhwala
jab jab bhi yeh man ghabraya (2)
toone ?? sambhala
raam tu sab ka rakhwala (2)

Patthar Ke Sanam

The best things in this song are Rafisahab's voice, the orchestra that makes the hair on your body stand up and the lyrics - boy! these words hurt more than any weapon out there.

And this is why they call it the silver screen; all the leading actors look so great in this one!

patthar ke sanam tujhe hum ne mohabbat ka khuda jaana (2)
badi bhool hui are hum ne yeh kya samjha yeh kya jaana
patthar ke sanam

chehra tera dil mein liye chalte rahe angaaron pe
tu ho kahin (2) sajde kiye hum ne tere rukhsaaron pe
hum sa na ho koi deewana
patthar ke sanam tujhe hum ne mohabbat ka khuda jaana
patthar ke sanam

socha tha yeh badh jaayengi tanhaaiyaan jab raaton ki
rasta hume (2) dikhlaayegi shaam-e-wafa in haathon ki
thokar lagi tab pehchana
patthar ke sanam tujhe hum ne mohabbat ka khuda jaana
patthar ke sanam

aye kaash ke hoti khabar toone kise thukraya hai
sheesha nahin (2) saagar nahin mandir sa ek dil dhaaya hai
sau aasmaan hai veeraana
patthar ke sanam tujhe hum ne mohabbat ka khuda jaana
badi bhool hui are hum ne yeh kya samjha yeh kya jaana
patthar ke sanam

Woh Jab Yaad Aaye...

Doori Na Rahe Koi

Quite a few Hindi songs that have at least one stanza, usually the last one, that has different tune than the rest of the song. I seem to adore such songs, specially when the lyrics are so meaningful and the music touches your heart. Here the lyricist has put the feelings in words that can't be
described in any other way. Lataji's magical voice is so divine! Listening to this song renders me speechless.

(music)

(upbeat music)

This is so fantastic! takes you out of this world. *goosebumps*

Notice how this next stanza begins with totally different tune than "saanson
ki haraarat..." stanza.
