Tasveer teri dil mera behla na sakegi...

The ghazal that I had been wanting to listen to since forever, but every time I went looking for it, I ended up listening to my other favorite tasveer teri dil mein jis din se utaari hai. So finally made it a point to search for this one instead and listened to it. What sweet voice Talat sahab had and what beautiful lyrics. It also reminds me of Gujarati prayer song naiya jhukaavi main to.

Apparently, there's also a comic number (lyrics are totally mindblowing!) by Mohd. Rafi sahab that starts with tasveer teri dil mera behla na sakegi. Looks like a parody written on the original.

tasveer teri dil mera behla na sakegi (2)
yeh teri tarah mujhse to sharma na sakegi
tasveer teri dil mera behla na sakegi

(main baat karoonga to yeh khaamosh rahegi
seene se lagaa loonga to yeh kuchh na kahegi) (2)
aaram woh kya degi jo tadpa na sakegi
tasveer teri dil mera behla na sakegi

(yeh aankhen hai thehri hui chanchal woh nigaahen
yeh haath hai sehme hue aur mast woh baahen) (2)
parchhaayi to insaan ke kaam aa na sakegi

Yeh hum aa gaye hai kahaan...

Flute in the beginning when the plane flies makes every single hair on my body stand up with excitement and happiness that can not be described! I haven't been able to pick and choose my most favorite song from Veer Zaara and that's because most of them are my favorite ones. This one being one of them. It's so utterly beautiful in music, lyrics, and everything else including picturization.

M: lehraati hui raahen khole hue hai baahen
yeh hum aa gaye hai kahaan
F: palkon pe gehre halke hai reshmi dhundhalke
yeh hum aa gaye hai kahaan
M: haan yeh hum aa gaye hai kahaan

M: woh dekho zara parbaton pe ghataayen
hamaari daastaan haule se sunaaye
F: suno to zara yeh phoolon ki waadi
hamaari hi koyi kahaani hai sunaati
M: sapnon ke is nagar mein
yaadon ki rehguzar mein
yeh hum aa gaye hai kahaan
F: haan yeh hum aa gaye hai kahaan

F: jo raahon mein hai rut ne sona bikhera
sunehra hua tera mera savera
M: zameen so gayi barf ki chaadaron mein
bas aag si jalti hai do dilon mein
F: hawaayen sarsaraaye badan kaamp jaaye
yeh hum aa gaye hai kahaan
M: haan yeh hum aa gaye hai kahaan

M: yeh barsaat bhi kab thame kaun jaane
F: tumhe mil gaye pyaar ke sau bahaane
M: sitaaron ki hai jaise baraat aayi
F: hamaare liye raat yoon jagmagaayi
M: sapne bhi jhilmilaaye
F: dil mein diye jalaaye
M: yeh hum aa gaye hai kahaan
F: haan yeh hum aa gaye hai kahaan
Both: haan yeh hum aa gaye hai kahaan

Jaan-e-bahaar husn tera bemisaal hai..

Listening to another duet I came across this one. I don't think I've ever listened to this one before. It completely blew me away... Love the raag malkauns and Rafi sahab's singing. Shammi Kapoor looks so very handsome as ever and actress so much like a mix of Asha Parekh and Vyjayantimala. It's the very beautiful B. Saroja Devi. Too bad she can't act nearly as well as Asha Parekh or Vyjayantimala.

This song takes me back to so many other songs based on the same raag, like chhu lene do nazuk hothon ko, man tarpat hari darsan ko aaj, and songs/music of Navrang.. so beautiful!

jaan-e-bahaar husn tera bemisaal hai (2)
wallaah kamaal hai arre wallaah kamaal hai
jaan-e-bahaar husn tera bemisaal hai

aayi hai mere paas tu is aan-baan se (2)
utari ho jaise koyi pari aasmaan se
main kya kahoon khushi se ajab mera haal hai
jaan-e-bahaar husn tera bemisaal hai
wallaah kamaal hai arre wallaah kamaal hai
jaan-e-bahaar husn tera bemisaal hai

haaye yeh teri mast adaayeh yeh baankpan (2)
kiranon ko bhi main chhoone na doonga tera badan
tujhse nazar milaaye yeh kiski majaal hai
jaan-e-bahaar husn tera bemisaal hai
wallaah kamaal hai arre wallaah kamaal hai
jaan-e-bahaar husn tera bemisaal hai

main khush-naseeb hoon ke tujhe maine paa liya (2)
toone karam kiya apna bana liya
aise mile hai hum ke bichhadna muhaal hai
jaan-e-bahaar husn tera bemisaal hai
wallaah kamaal hai arre wallaah kamaal hai
jaan-e-bahaar husn tera bemisaal hai

LagaN lagi re tose piya re...

Someone mentioned this movie on a blog and I was curious to see the film preview of it so went on youtube to see it. I don't remember what it had except that I couldn't stop listening to this song. It reminds me of my favorite songs from films like Dharm (2007) and Swades. It's so beautiful, thanks to the music, amazing voices of both singers (I can't decide who is better of the two) and lyrics.

KS: (lagaN laagi re tose piya re
balam kesari tose piya re
lagaN laagi re tose laagi re
balam kesari tose laagi re) (2)

SG: jee mein aise base
jaadu sa kyaa kar diya hai
mogare phool si main kheeli
lamhaa har pal juDaa
tumse hi rangeeniyaan hai
saundhi si khushbuen mehki si

KS: lagaN laagi re tose laagi re
balam kesari tose laagi re

(love the music here!)

SG: hmm..
aanch aisi jagi
nainon mein neend na abhi
tumse jo mili
umang ati jaagi hai

KS: saath jo tera hai saanware.. dhola re
nain saveraa hai saanware.. dhola re

SG: chunari meri ude
paijaniyaan itaraaye
saanjh dulhan si dekho saji
lamhaa har pal juDaa
tumse hi rangeeniyaan hai
saundhi si khushbuen mehki si

Both: lagaN laagi re tose laagi re
balam kesari tose laagi re

SG: lagaN laagi re tose piya re
balam kesari tose piya re
lagaN laagi re tose laagi re
balam kesari tose laagi re

(this one reminds me of "tum ne hum ko hansna sikhaaya.. rone kahoge ro lenge hum")

MukhDaa ni maaya laagi re.. Mohan pyaara.. (Gujarati)

Last week on my usual business trip to PA, I ran into Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. It was a very pleasant surprise for me and meeting him and his sons just made my trip so much more exciting than it usually is. They personally invited me to attend their concert that was happening at the Bharatiya temple there as part of a 10-day Shri Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. Fortunately, despite parking being a challenge and lot of people not getting entry to the concert, I made it to the temple and to the concert both and felt utterly blessed to have attended the concert and the temple visit was simply divine! First time ever I felt this unique feeling of being in a temple and being engrossed in the aarti and it reminded me of aarti they do at Mata Na Madh in Kutch, Gujarat. It was truly an out-of-this-world experience! Any how, the concert was also very beautiful and it was great to listen to the magical sarod played by the maestro and his young boys. Both Amaan and Ayaan play amazing sarod as well and it was a treat to listen to them. All three of them took turns playing for almost three hours accompanied by Vineet Vyas on the tabla. It was a treat!! One of the pieces was so amazing I absolutely loved it. Too bad I forget the name of the raag it was based on but it kept on bringing me back to this song that I'm posting today. It was funny how my mind was playing tricks on me. I was so mesmerized by both the sarod's version of this raag and this song, which I am almost certain is based on the same raag, I had to post the song. It's a beautiful Gujarati bhajan by Meerabai about how she is fascinated by Shri Krishna's beautiful face and what it has done to her. You have to listen to it to enjoy it! The flute, tabla, manjira, and other instruments make it even more beautiful along with the beautiful voice of singer, Dipali Saumaiya.
