I still remember the first time I had heard this one years ago with Papu we were listening to Rafi songs in our collection as usual.
Thanks to Pradeep & Priya for all those "Rafi Ka Jaadu" programs. I've been listening to the old recordings from 2004. Listened to this one again on one of the clips. The music and Rafi sahab's voice is out of the world. As Pradeep would say, his voice is sweet as honey.
And today, while searching for the video of it, I got to listen to the couplet in the beginning of the song. What emotional words penned by Asad Bhopali. Love the waterfalls, river, trees. Such sharp features Shakila has, gorgeous!
wafaa ke deep jalaaye hue nigaahon mein
bhatak rahi ho bhala kyon udaas raahon mein
tumhe khayaal hai tum mujhse door ho lekin
main saamne hoon chali aao meri baahon mein
sau baar janam lenge sau baar fanaa honge
aye jaan-e-wafaa phir bhi hum tum na juda honge
sau baar janam lenge sau baar fanaa honge
kismat hume milne se rokegi bhalaa kab tak
in pyaar ki raahon mein bhatkegi wafaa kab tak
kadmon ke nishaan khud hi manzil ka pataa honge
sau baar janam lenge sau baar fanaa honge
yeh kaisi udaasi hai jo husn pe chhaai hai
hum door nahin tum se kehne ko judaai hai
armaan bhare do dil phir ek jagaah honge
sau baar janam lenge sau baar fanaa honge
aye jaan-e-wafaa phir bhi hum tum na juda honge
sau baar janam lenge sau baar fanaa honge

Nathaniyaa Haale To Badaa Mazaa Hoye
I tried very hard to get a video of this one, but it's no where to be found. One of the most hilarious songs I've ever heard/watched. Even the lyrics are so funny. I had quite a hard time understanding some of the words so you'll see some ridiculous ones in there but that's what I've heard. If you can catch the correct ones, do share.
This is a must watch movie and a must watch song, if you do get a chance that is. I've forgotten the movie and vaguely remember the song but do know that it's definitely worth a listen. I've added the esnips link to the audio for your listening. Enjoy!
aa aa
yeh kaun aaj aaya andhere andhere
udhar bhi lootere idhar bhi 'hehehe' lootere
ho pataa yeh chalegaa savere savere
khule bhaag kis ke bari tere ke mere
nathaniya haale to badaa mazaa hoye
nathaniya
haaye nathaniya
wadi nathaniya haale to badaa mazaa hoye
nathaniya haale to badaa mazaa hoye
lakhpati dulhe ki main
lakhpati dulhaniyaan (2)
aur bhi sajaa lo wadi gehno se sajaniyan
gehno se sajaniyan
paato? kamariyaa pe haaye
paato? kamariyaa pe
heere ki sajaniyan
kamariyaa
wadi sadanli
kamariyaa chaale to badaa mazaa hoye (2)
achha hua dafaa hua mora pehla saiyaan
mora pehla saiyaan
nahin kab?? kaise leta
gori ki balaiyaa (2)
dekh pighla doon?? main to
thumak thumak chhaiyan
panjaniya
panjaniya haale to badaa mazaa hoye
nathaniya haale to badaa mazaa hoye
maar diya hai maine aankhon ke salaam se
aankhon ke salaam se
aisa diya jaam maine
gaye piya kaam se
gaye wadi kaam se
dagmagaaye ladkhadaaye (2)
pehle hi jaam se
gardaniyaa (hic)
gardaniyaa haale to badaa mazaa hoye (2)
kisi ko na mili aisi
naach dil-o-gaai re (2)
dil mera saaf loota
toone o harjaai re (2)
tujhe bhi dikhaaye koi haaye
tujhe bhi dikhaaye koi haath ki safaai re
daaku pe daka
daaku pe daka daale to badaa mazaa hoye (2)
nathaniya haale to badaa mazaa hoye (2)

Mi Raat Taakali (Marathi)
I had heard this one a few years ago and instantly fell in love with it. Of course for Lataji's voice mainly and the way it sounded. I didn't understand a single word of it but just the feelings conveyed in the way it was sung. Today, while listening to phulale re kshana maaze, I recalled this one and googled for it only to fine the amazing video of it. It was great fun watching young Smita Patil - she looks so very beautiful. The song has captions so it made me understand the meaning of the lyrics too. Do give it a listen.

Khilte Hai Gul Yahaan
Been listening to this since a few weeks actually, for of course no one else but Shashi Kapoor and actually I like Kishore Kumar's singing too and while I was at it I realized even the Lata version is beautiful, but for now we only talk about this one because it has Shashi Kapoor.
Notice SK at/in the following scenes: the humming at the beginning of the song, the way he removes the flower from her hair, the way he smiles and blinks his dreamy eyes while doing so, those mile-wide lips, yet again the smile, how his face glows in the light of fire, the way he serves the tea (as if it were cups full of love aah! pure heaven) *drool* the eyelashes and the smile and *DROOL* I need a bib; oh did I mention the smile? yup, that is to die for.
the way he turns his hand at 1:34
at 1:43 fat girl with blue jacket is so blinded by him she starts drinking tea with both hands, but then again, who wouldn't!? :P
watch him from 2:08 to 2:23
then again from 2:39 to 2:45
and at 2:54 (damn!)
and boy! from 3:05 to 4:05 for like whole minute the camera doesn't move away from HIS face (sheer bliss). Awwwww my knees have melted and disappeared somewhere by now.
Once you come back to reality, here are the lyrics:
hm hm hm hm
khilte hai gul yahaan khil ke bikharne ko (2)
milte hai dil yahaan mil ke bichhadne ko
khilte hai gul yahaan
(kal rahe naa rahe mausam yeh pyaar kaa
kal ruke naa ruke dolaa bahaar kaa) (2)
chaar pal mile jo aaj pyaar mein guzaar de
khilte hai gul yahaan khil ke bikharne ko
khilte hai gul yahaan
ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho aa
(jheelon ke hothon par meghon kaa raag hai
phoolon ke seene mein thandi thandi aag hai) (2)
dil ke aaine mein yen tu samaa utaar le
khilte hai gul yahaan khil ke bikharne ko
khilte hai gul yahaan
(pyaasaa hai dil sanam pyaasi yeh raat hai
hothon mein dabi dabi koi meethi baat hai) (2)
in lamho pe aaj tu har khushi nisaar de
khilte hai gul yahaan khil ke bikharne ko
milte hai dil yahaan mil ke bichhadne ko
khilte hai gul yahaan
F:
aa aa aa aa aa aa ho ho ho ho
khilte hai gul yahaan khil ke bikharne ko
milte hai dil yahaan mil ke bichhadne ko
khilte hai gul yahaan khil ke bikharne ko
khilte hai gul yahaan

Tere Bin Soone
If not the actual song itself, you've probably heard the beginning aalap of this song in a Lata Mangeshkar interview somewhere.
I didn't know of this song until recently but as soon as I did, I almost fell in love with the music and the slowness of it. Ashok Kumar looks almost different in that getup, and Asha Parekh as beautiful as ever. Music is quite slow and touches your heart. The singers have seemingly poured out their heart with their words. Do check it out. The video has an extra stanza than my audio track so I loved watching it as well.
Don't know what raag this is based on but I am almost certain it is based on one.
M: tere bin soone (2)
nain humaare
tere bin soone
baat takat gaye saanj sakhaare haaye
tere bin soone nain humaare
tere bin soone
ho
raat jo aaye dhal jaaye pyaasi (2)
din kaa hai dujaa naam udaasi
neendiyaan naa aaye (2)
ab mere dwaare
tere bin soone nain humaare
tere bin soone
ho
jag mein rahaa main jag se paraayaa (2)
saayaa bhi meraa mere paas na aayaa
hansne ke din bhi (2)
ro ke guzaare
tere bin soone nain humaare
tere bin soone
baat takat gaye saanj sakhaare haaye
tere bin soone
F: hmm hmm hmm
ho ho ho
oh andekhe oh anjaane (2)
chhup ke naa gaa yeh prem taraane
kaun hai tu mohe (2)
kuchh to bataa re
tere bin soone nayan humaare
tere bin soone
baat takat gaye saanj sakhaare
tere bin soone
