Humaari saanson mein aaj tak woh

OMG! I just discovered the magic of Noor Jahan. I have to admit that all the times when Priya went gaga over this legend's voice, I never understood it. Even when I said I liked her songs, I didn't really actually listen to her magic, until today when I listened to "chaandni raaten" and this song, it completely blew me away. The way she sings and her adaa, smile, and grace are truly outstanding. The music is quite beautiful to add to this gem. it's amazing how she sings same line completely differently each time. I am in love with Noor Jahan's voice!!

(humaari saanson mein aaj tak woh
henna ki khushbu mehek rahi hai) (2)
labon pe naghme machal rahe (2) (my! what buland aawaaz this lady has!)
nazar se masti chhalak rahi hai
humaari saanson mein aaj tak woh
henna ki khushbu mehek rahi hai (what out of the world music plays here!)

(woh mere nazdeek mein aate aate
hayaa se ek din simat gaye the) (2)
(mere khayaalon mein aaj tak woh
badan ki daali lachak rahi hai) (2)
humaari saanson mein aaj tak woh
henna ki khushbu mehek rahi hai

(sadaa jo dil se nikal rahi hai
woh sher-o-naghmon mein dhal rahi hai) (2)
(yeh dil ke aangan mein jaise koyi
ghazal ki jhanjhar jhanak? rahi rahi) (2)
humaari saanson mein aaj tak woh
henna ki khushbu mehek rahi hai

(absolutely love the music here)

(tadap mere beqaraar dil ki
kabhi to un mein asar karegi) (2)
(kabhi to woh bhi jalenge is mein
jo aag dil mein dahek rahi hai) (2)
humaari saanson mein aaj tak woh
henna ki khushbu mehek rahi hai
labon pe naghme machal rahe
nazar se masti chhalak rahi hai

humaari saanson mein aaj tak woh
henna ki khushbu mehek rahi hai

Jai Raghunandan Jai Siyaa Raam

It's been a while since I heard a bhajan that sounds so good. Absolutely adore the way the singers have sung this one.

And if it reminds you of other songs such as chandan sa badan that's because they're all based on raag yaman.

I completely adore the woman in this song. I have no idea who that is but she looks gorgeous and I love her jewelry too. If anyone knows who the actors are in this song, please do share. I only know that the youngest kid is Daisy Irani.

I am fascinated with the Ravi music and Shakeel Badayuni lyrics here. Wow! it's just amazing...

M: shri raam chandra aashrit paarijaataha
samast kalyaan gunaabhiraamaha
sitaa mukhaamburuhu chancharikaha
nirantaram mangal maatanotu

aa aa aa... aa aa aa... aa aa aa aa aa...
aa aa aa aa aa aa...

M: jai raghunandan jai siyaaraam
Ch: jai raghunandan jai siyaaraam

F: hey dukhbhanjan tumhe pranaam
Ch: hey dukhbhanjan tumhe pranaam
jai raghunandan jai siyaaraam (2)

F: bhraat bhaat ko hey parameshwar sneh tumhi sikhlaate
aa aa aa
aa aa aa... aa aa aa aa (How sweet does she sound!)
bhraat bhaat ko hey parameshwar sneh tumhi sikhlaate
M: nar naari ke prem ki jyoti jag mein tumhi jalaate
Both: o naiyaa ke khevanhaare japu main tumhro naam

Ch: jai raghunandan jai siyaaraam (2)

M: tum hi dayaa ke saagar prabhu ji tum hi paalanhaare
F: chain tum hi se paaye bekal manvaa saanjh sakhaare

Main To Tere Haseen Khayaalon Mein

When I started listening to the song, it caught my attention right away because the music was so attractive, specially all the instruments in the beginning of the song. And then the sweetest voice followed and it just made me get lost the way they say "main to tere haseen khayaal mein kho gayaa". First glimpse of the video gave me a feeling the actor too looked too familiar. Of course, why not, it's Dara Singh's brother Randhawa. They look so similar I almost got mixed up. It amazes me how many Bollywood men Rafi sahab gave his voice to. The actress, Swarna Kumari, also looks pretty nice for being not-so-famous.

I am so in love with this music. It is of Lala Asar Sattar. I've never heard of him before today. Must find more of his work. Lyrics per earthmusic are by Aish Kanwal. Nice ones and I adore them for the meaning and rhyming words. Hope you enjoy it too!

main to tere haseen khayaalon mein kho gayaa (2)
duniyaa yeh keh rahi hai ke deewaana ho gayaa
main to tere haseen khayaalon mein kho gayaa

yeh husn teraa khiltaa huaa saa gulaab hai (2)
aankhen teri haseen kanwal kaa shabaab hai
tu laajawaab hai
woh khushnaseeb hai teri mehfil mein jo gayaa
main to tere haseen khayaalon mein kho gayaa

koyi na jis ko samjhaa tu ek aisaa raaz hai (2)
mujhko bhi aaj apne muqaddar pe naaz hai
tu dil nawaaz hai
aashiq hoon teri zulf ke saaye mein so gayaa
main to tere haseen khayaalon mein kho gayaa

daaman chhudaa ke jaao na itne guroor se (2)
kyaa hai kusoor poochhate hai hum huzoor se
dekho na door se
kar do khataa muaaf jo honaa thaa ho gayaa
main to tere haseen khayaalon mein kho gayaa

duniyaa yeh keh rahi hai ke deewaana ho gayaa
main to tere haseen khayaalon mein kho gayaa

Zindagi teri yaadon mein khoyi...

This gem has only been discovered today. It reminds me of so many songs, such as chhod de saari duniya, ek tu na mila, and even a Gujarati garbo koi rajparaa jai ne, and may be even more that I can't recall right now.

What fun it is to discover that it is a piano song! but a sad one at that. I still like it quite a lot. Parveen Babi and Sunil Dutt look great. KA music and Indeevar lyrics make it only better than what Rafi sahab makes it.

I can't believe this is only the first Parveen Babi song on this blog. :O Gotta post more!!!

tu jo nahin koyi meraa
meraa koyi nahin koyi nahin
(zindagi teri yaadon mein khoyi
phir bhi khoyi nahin) (2)

tu jo nahin koyi meraa
meraa koyi nahin koyi nahin
zindagi teri yaadon mein khoyi
phir bhi khoyi nahin

teri chaahat na jab tak milegi (2)
rooh meri bhatakti rahegi
haal meraa agar woh sunenge
mujhpe deewaane bhi ro padenge (2)
haal sun ke meraa phir bhi teri
aankh royi nahin
tu jo nahin koyi meraa
meraa koyi nahin koyi nahin
zindagi teri yaadon mein khoyi
phir bhi khoyi nahin

phir se dekhaa tujhe hum ne jis dum (2)
mar chale the magar jee uthe hum
berukhi se hume toone maaraa
tu hai kaisaa maseehaa humaaraa (2)
jab lagaani na thi paar naiyaa
kyon dubooyi nahin
tu jo nahin koyi meraa
meraa koyi nahin koyi nahin
(zindagi teri yaadon mein khoyi
phir bhi khoyi nahin) (2)

Chaman Ke Phool Bhi Tujhko

The random Rafi songs I have placed on my ipod are the best because I get to listen to new undiscovered numbers while I least expect it. This one was discovered the same way. Ever since I listened to it for the first time, it has made me want to go back to it and listen to it over and over again. Sometimes, I just go directly to this one and listen to it. It's that beautiful.

Later on, when I googled for it to find the video, I was very pleasantly surprised to see that it was a song picturized on Ajit and Ragini (the girl from phir aane lagaa yaad). What a lovely and unique pairing! No wonder the song is so much fun to listen to as it's sung by Rafi-Lata combo and music is of G.S. Kohli (wonder whether he is related to Madan Mohan) and taareef karofying words penned by Faarooq Qaiser. :)

M: chaman ke phool bhi tujhko gulaab kehte hai (2)
humi nahin hai sabhi (2) laajawaab kehte hai
F: nazar milaa ke mere (2) dil ki baat pehchaano
sunaa hai chehre ko (2) dil ki kitaab kehte hai
M: chaman ke phool bhi tujhko

F: (saaz-e-dil chhed diyaa hai
to yeh naghma sun lo) (2)
bikhri bikhri hai mere pyaar ki kirane chun lo
M: isi kiran ko sanam (2) aaftaab kehte hai
F: humi nahin (2)
M: humi nahin hai sabhi laajawaab kehte hai
F: chaman ke phool bhi tujhko

M: (chashm-e-hairaan ki kasam
zulf-e-pareshaan ki kasam) (2)
maang lo jaan tumhe meri jaan ki kasam
F: ghazab ki baat hai (2) yeh kyaa janaab kehte hai
M: humi nahin haaye.. humi nahin
F: humi nahin hai sabhi laajawaab kehte hai
M: chaman ke phool bhi tujhko

F: aaj tak dekhi nahin aisi behekti aankhen (2)
M: daal do hum pe in aankhon mein chhalakti aankhen
F: sambhal ke peenaa ise (e) sab sharaab kehte hai
M: humi nahin hoye humi nahin
F: humi nahin hai sabhi laajawaab kehte hai

M: chaman ke phool bhi tujhko gulaab kehte hai
humi nahin hai sabhi laajawaab kehte hai

Dil mein tujhe bithaa ke...

Just two days back it was Lata Mangeshkar's 81st birthday. Listening to her songs while driving back from work made me think what would have happened to HFM if it weren't for her. Impossible. That's the word that came to my mind. No one can be like her. So I've been thinking of my most favorite songs of hers. This being one of them, which I have just discovered recently and am completely addicted to it. As for the rest of them, I am thinking to just make a post but I need to find out what criteria to use to narrow down my list to a few than a several hundred.

This immortal melody is penned and composed by Ravindra Jain. This one is based on raag bhimpalasi. No wonder it sounds so melodious.

Long live Lata Mangeshkar!! God bless you, Lataji.

(dil mein tujhe bithaa ke kar loongi main band aankhen
poojaa karoongi teri ho ke rahoongi teri) (2)

main hi main dekhoon tujhe piyaa aur na dekhe koyi (2)
ek pal bhi yeh soch rahe na kis vidhi milna hoi
sabse tujhe bachaa ke kar loongi main band aankhen
poojaa karoongi teri ho ke rahoongi teri

na koyi bandhan jagat kaa koyi pehraa na deewaar (2)
koyi na jaane do deewaane ji bhar kar le pyaar
kadmon mein tere aa ke kar loongi main band aankhen
poojaa karoongi teri ho ke rahoongi teri

(what fabulous sitaar plays here)

teraa hi mukh dekh ke piyaa raat ko main so jaau (2)
bhor bhayi jab aankh khule to tere hi darshan paau
tujhko gale lagaa ke kar loongi main band aankhen
poojaa karoongi teri ho ke rahoongi teri

dil mein tujhe bithaa ke kar loongi main band aankhen
poojaa karoongi teri ho ke rahoongi teri

Maana ho tum behad haseen

If I were to pick my top favorite songs of Yesudas, this one would surely be in top five. I like it so much. Listening to phir chhidi raat with D reminded me of this one for some reason along with tu jo mere sur mein. This one has gotten stuck in my head since.

What a beautiful offbeat sort of song... KJ Yesudas has sung is so beautifully. And that makes me realize I don't have any of my favorite KJY songs posted on here so got to share more of those. Until then, enjoy this number by KJY, Bappida and Kaifi Azmi. Shekhar Kapur looks completely different and Shabana her gorgeous self in this superhot outfit.

(maana ho tum behad haseen
aise boore hum bhi nahin) (2)
dekho kabhi to pyaar se
darte ho kyon iqraar se
maana ho tum behad haseen
aise boore hum bhi nahin

khultaa? nahin kuchh dilrubaa
tum hum se khush ho yaa ho khafaa
tirchhi nazar teekhi adaa
lagte ho kyon bezaar se
dekho kabhi to pyaar se
darte ho kyon iqraar se
maana ho tum behad haseen
aise boore hum bhi nahin

tum do kadam do saath agar
aasaan ho jaaye safar
chhodo bhi yeh duniyaa ka dar
todo na dil inkaar se
(dekho kabhi to pyaar se
darte ho kyon iqraar se
maana ho tum behad haseen
aise boore hum bhi nahin) (2)

Savere Ka Suraj Tumhaare Liye Hai

There is something about this song that stumped me the first time I listened to it today. For some reason, it reminds me of similar to huzoor is kadar, but the high notes and music and lyrics make it a completely different number. The mood is completely different too, quite philosophical. Lyrics is what I love about this one the most along with Kishoreda's voice.

Papu also shared a bit of trivia that both the Mukherjee actors in this one are actually real life brothers. I was surprised to know that. Both look completely different and with totally different fates I should add. Joy being so famous in so many Hindi films where as I don't remember watching Deb in any thing until today. Or may be I didn't notice him because he wasn't that famous. The song is beautiful nevertheless.

savere ka sooraj tumhaare liye hai
yeh bujhate diye ko na tum yaad karnaa
hue ek beeti hui baat hum to (2)
koyi aansoo hum par na barbaad karnaa
savere ka sooraj tumhaare liye hai

tumhaare liye hum tumhaare diye hum
lagan ki agan mein abhi tak jale hai

chaman se jo ek phool bichhadaa to kyaa hai (2)
naye gul se gulshan ko aabaad karnaa
savere ka sooraj tumhaare liye hai

chiraag apni dharti ka bujhataa hai jab bhi (2)
sitaare to ambar ke hote nahin hai
koyi naav toofaan mein jab doobeti hai
kinaare to saagar ke hote nahin hai (2)
hai hum dolati naav doobe to kyaa hai (2)
kinaare ho tum tum naa fariyaad karnaa
savere ka sooraj tumhaare liye hai
tumhaare liye hai (5)

Sajhati hai yoon hi mehfil...

Just yesterday, I remembered this song out of no where. I think listening to shokh nazar on ki bijaliyaan on Atul's blog a couple of days back might have something to do with it. Both the songs fall under the same category - Asha solos and not the most famous songs from their corresponding films. I think there's more songs that fall under this category and for some reason, I like them a lot and truly enjoy listening to them.

This is a ghazal-like slow song on a piano and a completely expressionless Priya. Even Raj Kumar and Rajesh Khanna can't help it but Vinod Khanna does that in just a few seconds he's on screen and oh-so-gorgeous Hema Malini. I don't remember whether I've watched the film or not, but both of these make me want to. RDB music, specially tabla are quite enjoyable, along with the beautiful lyrics penned by Majroohji.

ho sajhati hai yoon hi mehfil
sajhati hai yoon hi mehfil rang yoon hi dhalne do

(sajhati hai yoon hi mehfil rang yoon hi dhalne do
ek charaag bujhne do ek charaag jalne do)(2)
sajhati hai yoon hi mehfil rang yoon hi dhalne do

(saaz-e-tamannaa laao koyi geet gaaye hum
jashn-e-mohabbat hai yeh jhoom ke manaaye hum)(2)
shaam yeh muraadon ki subah tak to chalne do
sajhati hai yoon hi mehfil rang yoon hi dhalne do
ek charaag bujhne do ek charaag jalne do
sajhati hai yoon hi mehfil rang yoon hi dhalne do

(ab to nazar bhi apni rukti hai duaa ban kar
dhadkan bhi nikli dil se naghmaa-e-wafaa ban kar)(2)
aaj to dilon jaake hasrate nikalne do
sajhati hai yoon hi mehfil rang yoon hi dhalne do
ek charaag bujhne do ek charaag jalne do

Chale jaana zaraa thehro

As I was casually humming tumhaare gin guzaare hai, Papu said it sounded so much like this song that I'd never heard of. He knew of the song and film so it was really easy to search for it and listen to it. What a lovely song it is... I haven't listened to much of Sharda's singing except for her "titli udi", that too I didn't really know her name, so it was a pleasant surprise to find this duet of hers with Mukesh.

Absolutely love SJ music and adore the fact that the song has four complete stanzas... mazaa aa gayaa! I'm also hooked on the other song from same film with the same singers "duniya ki sair kar lo". It'd be awesome to find out what raag this song is based on.

It's so much fun to see different parts of world in these songs. In this one, I think it's Niagara Falls.

M: (chale jaana zaraa thehro kisi kaa dum nikaltaa hai
yeh manzar dekh kar jaana) (2)

F: chale jaana zaraa thehro kisi kaa dum nikaltaa hai
yeh manzar dekh kar jaana chale jaana

M: abhi aaye ho baitho to yeh mausam bhi suhaana hai (2)
abhi to haal-e-dil tum ko nigaahon se sunaana hai
nazar pyaasi yeh dil pyaasa kisi ka dum nikaltaa hai
yeh manzar dekh kar jaana chale jaana

F: haseen jharanon ke saaye mein akelaa chhod jaate ho (2)
hamaare dil ko aakhir kis liye tum tod jaate ho
zaraa dum lo kahaa maano kisi ka dum nikaltaa hai
yeh manzar dekh kar jaana chale jaana

M: hamaari jaan ho tum bhi agar chal di to phir kyaa hai (2)
tumhaare bin bahaaron mein khushi kyaa hai mazaa kyaa hai (the tunes here remind me of "tum se pyaar hai" of yeh meraa prempatra)
o jaan-e-man na jaao tum kisi ka dum nikaltaa hai
yeh manzar dekh kar jaana chale jaana

F: kasam khaati hoon main apni tumhe ab na sataaungi (2)
tumhaari baat jo bhi ho wohi main maan jaaungi
bhari aankhen ruki saansen? kisi ka dum nikaltaa hai
yeh manzar dekh kar jaana
chale jaana zaraa thehro kisi kaa dum nikaltaa hai
yeh manzar dekh kar jaana

M: chale jaana zaraa thehro kisi kaa dum nikaltaa hai
yeh manzar dekh kar jaana chale jaana

Bandaa parvar thaam lo jigar...

For me, if one movie that can come close to Golmaal, it would be Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon. Like Golmaal, I must have watched it more than 20 times. It is one of those movies that falls under the "most-entertaining" category. That could be a personal thing too as I truly enjoy the music, songs, story, acting along with the silliness and everything else about the movie.

It's so much fun to watch these songs over and over again. Jeeps and the tall trees remind me of another OPN-Majrooh-Rafi song pukaarta chala hoon main. The best part about this one are the music, lyrics and singer's voice along with all the horse-carriges/taanga and Popatlaal's comedy. And for some reason, everytime I hear the taanga music in a song, it makes me feel that it must be OPN song.

Joy Mukherjee becomes a pathan to disguise himself in this one and Asha Parekh as her beautiful bossy self with a cute hat. It's a lot of fun to watch them. They had pretty good onscreen chemistry. As for the location, I wonder what place this is. Mona's friend mentions Barahmulla right before the song but I am not sure whether that's where it is.

If you are watching the extended clip below, check out the comedy parts of Difu (Rajendranath) in and around the song for additional entertainment. :)

bandaa parvar
(bandaa parvar thaam lo jigar
ban ke pyaar phir aaya hoon
khidmat mein aap ki huzoor
phir wohi dil laayaa hoon)

(notice signature OPN music here!)

ho ho ho ho
aa aa aa aa aa

ho ho ho ho
aa aa aa aa aa aa

(jis ki tadap se rukh pe tumhaare
aaya nikhaar gazab kaa) (2)
jis ke lahoo se aur bhi chamkaa
rang tumhaare lab kaa
gesu khule zanjeer bane
aur bhi tum tasveer bane
aainaa dildaar kaa nazraana pyaar ka
phir wohi dil laayaa hoon
bandaa parvar
bandaa parvar thaam lo jigar
ban ke pyaar phir aaya hoon
khidmat mein aap ki huzoor
phir wohi dil laayaa hoon

(what beautiful instrument plays here?)

ho ho ho ho
aa aa aa aa aa

ho ho ho ho
aa aa aa aa aa aa

(meri nigaahen shokh se bachkar
yaar kahaan jaaoge) (2) [where is this gorgeous place?]
paanv jahaan rakh doge adaa se
dil ko wahin paaoge
rahoon judaa yeh majaal kahaan
jaau kahin yeh khayaal kahaan
bandaa dildaar kaa nazraanaa pyaar kaa
phir wohi dil laayaa hoon

"What I'm listening to..." songs

Once I have posted a song on this blog, it becomes increasingly difficult to put up the same song again as it's already posted. This is when the "what I'm listening to..." started. Every time I was listening to them again, I'd put it up under here.

Here's a post that provides a comments area for these "what I'm listening to" songs.

Mukhde pe tere... chal thamke zaraa...

The music mislead me to believe that it was a Shammi Kapoor song. How wrong I was... and after watching it, I feel it should've really been a Shammi Kapoor song. Oh well! I am just going to feel happy for it is a Rafi song.

It is one awesome awesome song.. with really cool lyrics. Listening to these lyrics by Prem Dhavan. First time I'm hearing this name. Wonder whether he's related to other Dhavan's of our film industry.

This three-stanza song reminds me of another Rafi song of Dharam paaji yehi hai tamanna.

I think the actress looks better than the actor. ;) And this marks a new entry to the car songs!!

mukhde pe tere bijali ki chamak
zulfon mein ghataa lehraati hai
chal thamke zaraa

chal thamke zaraa aye sholaa badan
meri jaan nikalti jaati hai
chal thamke zaraa

(har jalwaa tera hai qaatil
har ek adaa dil loote) (2)
hai chaal mein teji jaise
ek teer kamaan se chhute
jab chalti ho tum (2)
kehte hai sabhi hat jaao qayaamat aati hai [this line makes me laugh!]
mukhde pe tere bijali ki chamak
zulfon mein ghataa lehraati hai
chal thamke zaraa

(naagan ki tarah balkhaati [hehehe... check out his dancing here ;)]
daalo na idhar tum phere) (2)
hai aas lagaaye baithe
hum jaise to laakh sapere
kitnaa bhi zaher (2)
naagin mein rahe jab been baje phas jaati hai
mukhde pe tere bijali ki chamak
zulfon mein ghataa lehraati hai
chal thamke zaraa

(dil cheez hai khone waali
is ko itnaa na sambhaalo) (2)
aankhon mein basaa loongaa main
yeh dil jo mujhe de daalo
naadaan ho tum (2)
naadaanon se har cheez kahin kho jaati hai
mukhde pe tere bijali ki chamak
zulfon mein ghataa lehraati hai
chal thamke zaraa aye sholaa badan
meri jaan nikalti jaati hai
chal thamke zaraa

Har taraf ab yehi afsaane hai...

I wanted to post this one since a few days since Rajani requested it.

What I like the most about this one is the lyrics. So full of feelings and have such a divine description... Mannada's voice is soulful. I also had a wonderful time watching Raj Kumar in it. Wish it was someone else other than Priya Rajvansh. I don't know why they kept bringing these two in movies together. She must know some big shots to be in so many movies. ;)

The song is beautiful one. Thanks, Rajani, for introducing me to this gem. Please do suggest more of your favorite ones.

har taraf ab yehi afsaane hai (2)
hum teri aankhon ke deewaane hai (2)
har taraf ab yehi afsaane hai (2)

itni sacchaai hai in aankhon mein
khote sikke bhi khare ho jaaye
tu kabhi pyaar se dekhe jo udhar
sukhe jangal bhi hare ho jaaye
baag ban jaaye (2) jo veeraane hai
hum teri aankhon ke deewaane hai
har taraf ab yehi afsaane hai

ek halkaa saa ishaaraa in kaa
kabhi dil aur kabhi jaan lootegaa
kis tarah pyaas bujhegi us ki
kis tarah us kaa nashaa tootegaa
jiski kismat mein (2) yeh paimaane hai
hum teri aankhon ke deewaane hai
har taraf ab yehi afsaane hai

neechi nazaron mein hai kitnaa jaadu
ho gaye pal mein kayi khwaab jawaan
kabhi uthane kabhi jhukne ki adaa
le chali jaane kidhar jaane kahaan
raaste pyaar ke (2) anjaane hai
hum teri aankhon ke deewaane hai (2)
har taraf ab yehi afsaane hai (2)

Meraa pyaar woh hai...

The collection on my ipod finally got replenished with new songs. Not literally new, but new for me. This is one of those gems that I'm totally hooked to since this evening. Wow! what a marvelous and romantic song.. it's been a while since I listened to one of these. It reminds me of tumhara chahnewala khuda ki duniya mein, may be because it's by the same singer and same musician and same lyricist and picturized on the same actor? whoa.. it's like they tried to recreate magic and it worked. It's the other way around actually. This one came first and then the song from Kahin Din Kahin Raat.

Audiowise both songs are super romantic and make me want to listen to them over and over again, but I do prefer watching b/w clip with the dimpled, very young, and extremely expressive Sharmila in it (I think I will forgive her for not wearing her signature blouse with a knot in the back ;)) than some random actress. Moreover, I am partial to the filming that takes you on a tour of facial features of actors.

Mahendra Kapoor is wonderful in this one and now I have one more song of his to add to my favorites collection. Can't praise the music enough and lyrics as always are absolutely crazy, but likable or so I find. :)

(meraa pyaar woh hai ke mar kar bhi tum ko
judaa apni baahon se hone na degaa) (2)
mili mujhko jannat to jannat ke badle
khudaa se meri jaan tumhe maang legaa
meraa pyaar woh hai

(what out of this world music plays here!)

zamaana to karvat badalta rahegaa
naye zindagi ke taraane banenge
mitegi na lekin mohabbat hamaari
mitaane ke sau sau bahaane banenge
haqeeqat hameshaa haqeeqat rahegi
kabhi bhi na is kaa fasaana banegaa
meraa pyaar woh hai ke mar kar bhi tum ko
judaa apni baahon se hone na degaa
meraa pyaar woh hai

(absolutely love the flute playing here)

tumhe chheen le meri baahon se koyi
meraa pyaar yoon besahaara nahin hai
tumhaara badan chaandani aa ke chhu le
mere dil ko yeh bhi ganwaara nahin hai
koyi bhi agar tum se aa ke mile to
tumhaari kasam hai meraa dil jalegaa

meraa pyaar woh hai ke mar kar bhi tum ko
judaa apni baahon se hone na degaa
mili mujhko jannat to jannat ke badle
khudaa se meri jaan tumhe maang legaa
meraa pyaar woh hai

Yeh albeli pyaar ki raahen...

What I like the most about this one is both of them singing so much together. I've never seen any other song where both the singers sing together for longer times.

Then my second favorite has to be the music. It's so peppy and cheers me up. :)

The locations are so beautiful no wonder they'd feel so happy... what amazes me is the singers have done such a fine justice to it that it just feels so right. Almost like they also sang in these locations.

F: yeh albeli pyaar ki raahen
yeh jaane pehchaane raste
kal bhi the yeh nikhare nikhare
aaj bhi hai yeh hanste hanste

M: aa ha ha ha ha
yeh albeli pyaar ki raahen
yeh jaane pehchaane raste
kal bhi the yeh nikhare nikhare
aaj bhi hai yeh hanste hanste

Both: aa ha ha ha ha
yeh albeli pyaar ki raahen

F: hum tum honge jahaan jahaan
pyaar bhi hoga wahaan wahaan
kehti hai dil ki dhadkan
hum jawaan tum jawaan

M: hum tum honge jahaan jahaan
pyaar bhi hoga wahaan wahaan
kehti hai dil ki dhadkan
hum jawaan tum jawaan (it's so cute how they pause in between this line)

Both: yeh albeli pyaar ki raahen
yeh jaane pehchaane raste
kal bhi the yeh nikhare nikhare
aaj bhi hai yeh hanste hanste
aa ha ha ha ha
yeh albeli pyaar ki raahen

M: jab tak raah dikhaane waali
teri shokh nazar hai
mere saathi mere humdum
pyaara pyaara yeh safar hai

F: jab tak raah dikhaane waali
teri shokh nazar hai
mere saathi mere humdum
pyaara pyaara yeh safar hai

Both: yeh albeli pyaar ki raahen
yeh jaane pehchaane raste
kal bhi the yeh nikhare nikhare
aaj bhi hai yeh hanste hanste
aa ha ha ha ha
yeh albeli pyaar ki raahen

(music here reminds me of ibtadaa-e-ishq mein song)

(M: waadi waadi gulshan gulshan
sang tere rukhsaaron ka
F: tere hi naghme gaaye
boota boota gulzaaron ka) (2)

Both: yeh albeli pyaar ki raahen
yeh jaane pehchaane raste
kal bhi the yeh nikhare nikhare
aaj bhi hai yeh hanste hanste
aa ha ha ha ha
yeh albeli pyaar ki raahen

Sharm aati hai magar...

One of my favorite songs of Saira Banu. Of course, it's not only her who makes it so but all other artists that make this one what it is, a gem that is. Absolutely love the music and lyrics of this one along with the singer! It's fun to watch it as well.

Today happens to be Saira Banu's birthday as well so wishing her lots of happiness, health and all that is beautiful just as she is. :) As I've said in the past too, this woman knows how to wear white sarees the best! I love that about her.

sharm aati hai magar aaj yeh kehnaa hoga (2)
ab hume aap ke kadmon hi mein rehnaa hoga
sharm aati hai magar

aap se rooth ke hum jitnaa jiye khaak jiye (2)
kayi ilzaam liye aur kayi ilzaam diye
aaj ke baad magar kuchh bhi na kehnaa hoga
ab hume aap ke kadmon hi mein rehnaa hoga
sharm aati hai magar aaj yeh kehnaa hoga

(absolutely love the music here)

der ke baad yeh samjhe hai mohabbat kyaa hai
ab hume chaand ke jhoomar ki zuroorat kyaa hai
pyaar se badhke bhalaa kaun sa gehna hoga (what beautiful eyes she has got in this part of the clip)
ab hume aap ke kadmon hi mein rehnaa hoga
sharm aati hai magar aaj yeh kehnaa hoga

aap ke pyaar ka beemaar hamaara dil hai (2)
aap ke gham ka khareedaar hamaara dil hai
aap ko apna koyi dard na sehnaa hoga
ab hume aap ke kadmon hi mein rehna hoga

sharm aati hai magar aaj yeh kehnaa hoga
ab hume aap ke kadmon hi mein rehnaa hoga
sharm aati hai hm hm hm...

Chaand Taktaa Hai Idhar

Best part about listening to songs with Papu is that I get to discover new songs out of nowhere. This one also came about like that. He thought it was "chaand dhalta??? hai idhar" and then we googled to find the right song. :)

Suman Kalyanpur has never sounded sweeter. Here once again she creates magic with Rafi sahab. What a sweet melody!

Music is of Roshan sahab and Sahirji's lyrics are a nice change to hear from our regular Hindi lyrics.

M: chaand taktaa hai idhar (2)
aao kahin chhup jaaye
F: kahin laage na nazar
aao kahin chhup jaaye
chaand taktaa hai idhar

M: phool shaakhon se jhuke jaate hai hothon ki taraf (2)
jhonkhe balkhaake mude aate hai
ho mude aate hai zulfon ki taraf
F: aa aa aa
chhod kar in ki dagar (2)
aao kahin chhup jaaye
kahin laage na nazar
aao kahin chhup jaaye
chaand taktaa hai idhar

F: main hi main dekhoon sajan doojaa na dekhe tohe (2)
kaa khabar kaun sautaniyaan toraa
ho sautaniyaan toraa man mohe
M: ho ho ho...
dil pe daalo na asar (2)
(aao kahin chhup jaaye
chaand taktaa hai idhar) (2)

M: saari nazaron se pare saare nazaaron se pare (2)
aasmaanon pe chamakte hue
ho chamakte hue taaron se pare
F: aa aa aa
odh kar laal chunar (2)
aao kahin chhup jaaye
kahin laage na nazar
aao kahin chhup jaaye
Both: chaand taktaa hai idhar

Main Kyaa Jaanu Kyaa Jaadu Hai

Discovered this melodious song while listening to some old songs on this blog. I completely adore how he sings the "kyaa" before "jaadu" each and every single time.

The music is of Pankaj Mullick and beautiful but very little amounts of lyrics are by Kidar Sharma.

main kyaa jaanu kyaa jaadu hai
jaadu hai (2)
main kyaa jaanu kyaa jaadu hai
in do matwaale nainon mein
jaadu hai (3)
main kyaa jaanu kyaa jaadu hai

ek ek athaa saagar sa hai (2)
in do matwaale nainon mein
jaadu hai (3)
main kyaa jaanu kyaa jaadu hai

(man poochh rahaa hai ab mujhse
nainon ne kahaa hai kyaa tujhse) (2)
jab nain mile
nainon ne kahaa (2)
jab nain mile nainon ne kahaa
ab nain base ke nainon mein

main kyaa jaanu kyaa jaadu hai
jaadu hai (2)
in do matwaale nainon mein
jaadu hai (3)
main kyaa jaanu kyaa jaadu hai

Yeh Waadiyaan Yeh Fizaayen...

At first, when I was listening to the song, I thought it must have been picturized on Shashi Kapoor. Or at least that's what it sounded like. But when I watched it, I was completely blown away by seeing Sunil Dutt! Nice to see him paired with young and beautiful Nanda.

Our hero is more than 6 ft tall and heroine is less than even 5 ft so this is how they choose to show them to hide the height difference. Quite interesting, as one doesn't even notice all that until you start paying attention.

I find this as sweet as a lullaby/lori and it just makes me want to keep listening to it. Thanks to Rafi sahab, Sahir ji and music maestro Ravi.

yeh waadiyaan yeh fizaayen bulaa rahi hai tumhe (2)
khaamoshiyon ki sadaayen bulaa rahi hai tumhe
yeh waadiyaan yeh fizaayen bulaa rahi hai tumhe

taras rahe hai jawaan phool hoth chhoone ko (2)
machal machal ke hawaayen bulaa rahi hai tumhe (2)
khaamoshiyon ki sadaayen bulaa rahi hai tumhe
yeh waadiyaan yeh fizaayen bulaa rahi hai tumhe

tumhaari zulfon se khushboo ki bheekh lene ko (2)
jhuki jhuki si ghataayen bulaa rahi hai tumhe (2)
khaamoshiyon ki sadaayen bulaa rahi hai tumhe (pay attention to how he sings the word khaamoshiyon)
yeh waadiyaan yeh fizaayen bulaa rahi hai tumhe

haseen champayi pairon ko jab se dekhaa hai haaye
haseen champayi pairon ko jab se dekhaa hai
nadi ki mast adaayen bulaa rahi hai tumhe (2)
khaamoshiyon ki sadaayen bulaa rahi hai tumhe
yeh waadiyaan yeh fizaayen bulaa rahi hai tumhe

(reminds me of this Hariharan song that goes like "raat mehke to yoon hi hota hai")

mera kahaa na suno inn ki baat to sun lo (2)
har ek dil ki duaayen bulaa rahi hai tumhe (2)
khaamoshiyon ki sadaayen bulaa rahi hai tumhe
yeh waadiyaan yeh fizaayen bulaa rahi hai tumhe

Humi se mohabbat humi se ladaayi

You don't see Dilip Kumar in this mood too often. I am having such a fun time watching him in Leader doing all the crazy things that are more of signature adaayen for say Shammi Kapoor or even Dharmendra. And Vijayantimala has been in too many serious roles so this one was a fresh change to see. I'm still half a way through the movie but couldn't get over this song so kept listening to it. Naushadji's music is gorgeous and so are the lyrics of Shakeel Badayuni sahab along with Rafi sahab's mischievous singing.

badi khubsoorat nazar aa rahi ho
yeh jee chaahta hai ke khud jaan de doon (2)
mohabbat mein aaye na tum par buraayi
arre maar daala duhaayi duhaayi

hume husn ki har adaa hai ganvaara
haseenon ka gussa bhi lagta hai pyaara
udhar tum ne teer-e-nazar dil pe maara (2)
idhar hum ne bhi jaan kar chot khaayi
humi se mohabbat humi se ladaayi (check out how she stomps his foot here.. hahaha!)

ho oo oo... ho oo oo...

abhi na samajh ho uthaao na khanjar (2)
kahin mud na jaaye tumhaari kalaayi
arre maar daala duhaayi duhaayi

HFM "car" songs

For my nephew everything that has wheels is called a car. So while watching film Professor (of Shammi Kapoor and Kalpana) today, when the song main chali main chali came up I was reminded of the fact that I still hadn't created a post on my "car" songs. I quickly went to my old HDD and dug up the vehicle songs files that I started creating back in 2006. Some editing and recalling and searching for a few hours and I have my "car" songs post!

I know this post is going to be updated often so if you can recall any that I might have missed, please do share. :) Thanks in advance.

Milti hai zindagi mein...

There are some songs that never get old. Like this one. No matter how many times I listen to it, it just sounds so fresh thanks to all the artsy people who've created it. Lata ji sounds so upbeat and the music so live yet the lyrics are so deep and completely opposite to the mood the sound and music generate.

milti hai zindagi mein mohabbat kabhi kabhi (3)
hoti hai dilbaron ki inaayat kabhi kabhi (2)

sharmaa ke mooh na pher nazar ke sawaal par (2)
laati hai aise mod pe kismat kabhi kabhi (2)
milti hai zindagi mein mohabbat kabhi kabhi

tanhaa na kat sakenge jawaani ke raaste (2)
pesh aayegi kisi ki zuroorat kabhi kabhi (2)
milti hai zindagi mein mohabbat kabhi kabhi

phir kho na jaaye hum kahin duniyaa ki bheed mein (2)
milti hai paas aane ki mohlat kabhi kabhi (2)
hoti hai dilbaron ki inaayat kabhi kabhi
milti hai zindagi mein mohabbat kabhi kabhi (2)

Apni zulfen mere shaano pe bikhar jaane do

As soon as the music started, I knew there was something different about this one. Something more appealing than the usual, something that made it different and more beautiful... instantly, google came to rescue and I was right! It is because it's Naushad sahab's composition. :) How can it not be different... and to top it, the beautiful words are penned by none other than Naqsh Lyalpuri. Just those two guarantee that it has to be gorgeous song and it indeed is.

The music reminds me of so many golden oldies as well as some new songs.

apni zulfen mere shaano pe bikhar jaane do
aaj roko na mujhe had se guzar jaane do
apni zulfen mere shaano pe bikhar jaane do

tum jo aaye to bahaaron pe shabaab aayaa hai
in nazaaron pe bhi halkaa saa nashaa chhaayaa hai
apni aankhon kaa nashaa aur bhi badh jaane do
apni zulfen mere shaano pe bikhar jaane do
aaj roko na mujhe had se guzar jaane do
apni zulfen mere shaano pe bikhar jaane do

sa ni dha pa pa ma
ga ma pa ni dha ni sa ni pa ga ma
ma pa re sa

surkh hothon pe gulaabon kaa gumaan hotaa hai
aisaa manzar ho jahaan hosh kahaan rehtaa hai
yeh haseen hoth mere hothon se mil jaane do
apni zulfen mere shaano pe bikhar jaane do
aaj roko na mujhe had se guzar jaane do

apni zulfen mere shaano pe bikhar jaane do
aaj roko na mujhe had se guzar jaane do

Dheere dheere se palken uthaana...

I discovered this song just randomly as it was sitting on my ipod being ignored. I saw Sonu and Shreya's names and realized I should've already listened to it. If you've never heard this one, don't watch the video, just listen to it. You'll totally fall in love with it. Just be warned that the video is bakwaas of sorts. The music is nice too.

M: dheere dheere se palken uthaana
dheere dheere se palken jhukaana
dheere dheere se dil ko churaana
dheere dheere se apnaa banaana
dheere dheere dheere (2)
yeh tum ne kya kar diya

F: dheere dheere se nazare milaana
dheere dheere se hum ko rijhaana
dheere dheere se dil mein samaana
dheere dheere se apnaa banaana
dheere dheere dheere (2)
yeh tum ne kya kar diya
aa aa.. aa aa aa..

M: roshan haseen chaand jaisa yeh chehra
us pe yeh zulfon ke baadal
F: lagtaa hai tum apni deewaangi se
kar doge hum ko bhi paagal
chhaane lagi hai madhoshiyaa
M: gaane lagi hai khaamoshiyaa
F: dheere dheere dheere (2)
yeh tum ne kya kar diya

M: dheere dheere se palken uthaana
dheere dheere se palken jhukaana
dheere dheere se dil ko churaana
dheere dheere se apnaa banaana

hey hey hey...

F: kya sochte ho kya dekhate ho
aaghosh mein hum ko bhar lo
M: yeh pal mohabbat yehi zindagi hai
dheere dheere dheere (2)
yeh tum ne kya kar diya
la la la la la la la la la la... hm hm hm hm..
la la la la la la...

Huzoor is kadar bhi na itaraa ke chaliye...

Bhupinder Singh's signature ghazals are the best to listen to when you want to relax from a tiring day. They take you to this state of mind where all you can do is just listen to them and smile. This is one of my favorites of him along with Suresh Wadkar. What beautiful singers both of them are. But what adds sone pe suhaga here is Gulzar's lyrics and RDB music.... and it turns into pure enjoyment...

BS: aa aa aa aa aa.. aa aa aa..
SW: aa aa... aa aa aa aa...
BS: huzoor is kadar bhi na itaraa ke chaliye (2)
khule aam aanchal na lehraa ke chaliye

huzoor is kadar bhi na itaraa ke chaliye
khule aam aanchal na lehraa ke chaliye

huzoor is kadar bhi na itaraa ke chaliye...

koyi manchalaa gar pakad legaa aanchal
aa aa aa koyi manchalaa gar pakad legaa aanchal
zaraa sochiye aap kyaa keejiyegaa
SW: lagaa de agar badhke zulfon mein kaliyaan (2)
to kyaa apni zulfen jhatak deejiyegaa
huzoor is kadar bhi na itaraa ke chaliye
khule aam aanchal na lehraa ke chaliye
huzoor is kadar bhi na itaraa ke chaliye

aa aa aa.. aa aa aa...
badi dil nashi hai haseen ki yeh ladiyaan (2)
yeh moti magar yoon na bikharaaya keeje
BS: udaa ke na le jaaye jhokhaa hawaa ka (2)
lachakta badan yoon na lehraaya keeje
huzoor is kadar bhi na itaraa ke chaliye
SW: khule aam aanchal na lehraa ke chaliye
huzoor is kadar bhi na itaraa ke chaliye

bahot khubsoorat hai har baat lekin (2)
agar dil bhi hotaa to kyaa baat hoti
BS: likhi jaati phir daastaan-e-mohabbat (2)
ek afsaane jaisi mulaaqaat hoti
huzoor is kadar bhi na itaraa ke chaliye
SW: khule aam aanchal na lehraa ke chaliye

Hey Govind Hey Gopaal

One Vijayadashami program when we used to have our annual dance performances at my dance school, this one played and I was mesmerized by it. I knew it was based on raag desh as it is one of the very few raag that I can recognize. I used to hum this one nonstop after that but never found the audio any where and the dance teacher was unable to share because of copyrights. So when I went to search for it on google a couple of weeks back, after listening to quite a few different versions of it, I finally found the one based on raag desh. What a beautiful bhajan it is! It makes me want to listen to it all day...

hey govind hey gopaal (3)
raakho sharan hamaare
ab to jeevan haare (2)

hey govind hey gopaal
raaho charan hamaare
ab to jeevan haare (2)
hey govind hey gopaal, hey govind

(neer pibaan dharan? gayo
sindhu ke kinaare) (2)
sindhu beech basat graah (2)
charan dharit saare (2)
hey govind hey gopaal, hey govind

(dwaaruka mein shapath dayo
shor bhayo bhaare) (2)
(shankh chakra gadhaa padma
garud lai sithaare) (2)
hey govind hey gopaal, hey govind

(sur kahe shyaam suno
charan hai tihaare) (2)
ab ki baar paar karo (2)
nand ke dulaare (2)

hey govind hey gopaal
raaho charan hamaare
ab to jeevan haare (2)

Saccha hai gar pyaar meraa sanam

It has been years since I watched this film. I remember falling in love with the music and songs of this film and had made an audio from the video as I didn't have them on a tape (audio cassette). I also remember listening to it on repeat numerous times and Mohd Rafi's "O Priya!" of "kaun hai jo sapnon mein aaya" was the most hummed melody for me. In all that, I had completely forgotten about this romantic number.

So when I rediscovered this one, I had to remind myself of it and I wished for it to be longer than two stanzas and thanks to youtube, I actually found the enhanced audio version only to find one additional stanza and I am one happy camper!!

Shailendra sahab's beautiful words and Shankar Jaikishan's out of this world music only make it sweeter.

sacchaa hai gar pyaar meraa sanam
honge jahaan tum wahaan honge hum
yeh dhadkane bhi agar jaaye tham
jab bhi pukaaro sadaa denge hum

yeh ajab saa raaz hai yeh ajeeb baat hai (2)
apnaa pyaar tab se hai jab se kaaynaat hai
priya! priya!
mar ke bhi yeh pyaar hoga na kam
honge jahaan tum wahaan honge hum
hoye hoye..
sacchaa hai gar pyaar meraa sanam
honge jahaan tum wahaan honge hum

jhoomne lagi fizaa geet gaa uthaa gagan (2)
aur hawaao ne kahaa phir kahin pe hai milan
priya! ey! priya!!
milenge do dil kahin yeh kasam?
honge jahaan tum wahaan honge hum
sacchaa hai gar pyaar meraa sanam
honge jahaan tum wahaan honge hum

kyon na saat aasmaan aaye apni raah mein (2)
saaya ban ke saath hoon main tumhaari chaah mein
badh ke rukenge ab na yeh kadam
honge jahaan tum wahaan honge hum
sacchaa hai gar pyaar meraa sanam
honge jahaan tum wahaan honge hum

Husn se chaand bhi sharmaaya hai

I think Saira Banu wears white saarees the best! Specially when she pairs them with those dangliing earrings and those boat-neck blouses with 3/4 sleeves. What a gorgeous way to wear a saaree.

And to top all this, Rafi sahab's voice praising her beauty. Joy Mukherjee also looks so handsome in red shirt.

I adore the music of this one along with the lyrics, which only makes me wish for the song was longer than just two stanzas. It's injustice to us listeners.

(husn se chaand bhi sharmaaya hai
teri soorat ne gazabdhaaya hai) (2)

[notice how many instruments play here!! it's amazing..]

haaye inn pyaar mein doobi hui aankhon ki kasam (2)
aadmi kyaa hai farishton ke bahek jaaye kadam (2)
bin peeye mujhpe nashaa chhaaya hai
teri soorat ne gazabdhaaya hai
husn se chaand bhi sharmaaya hai
teri soorat ne gazabdhaaya hai

muskuraaye jo tere lab to bahaaren aayi (2)
khil gaye phool badi deri jahaan par chhaayi (2)
toone gulshan meraa mehkaaya hai
teri soorat ne gazabdhaaya hai
husn se chaand bhi sharmaaya hai
teri soorat ne gazabdhaaya hai

Duniya banaane waale... pyaar ki aag mein...

While listening to the songs of film Ziddi, I discovered so many songs that I had missed out on watching the film years ago. This being one of them. It sounds and looks comedy, but has very deep feelings about a broken hearted person. Mannada gives voice to Mehmood once again to create this magical number. I still can't believe I missed this song.

At about 3:30 mins in the song, you hear the famous music that has been played in many many songs like nazare mili dil dhadaka, dole dole dil dole bole dil bole, and of course from Come September, and many more.

duniya banaane waale sun se meri kahaani
roye meri mohabbat
tapde (2) meri jawaani

pyaar ki aag mein tan badan jal gayaa (2)
jaane phir kyon jalaati hai duniya mujhe (2)
pyaar ki aag mein tan badan jal gayaa

main to rotaa phiru baadalon ki tarhaa
thandi aahen bharu paagalon ki tarhaa
main to rotaa phiru baadalon ki tarhaa
arre main to ho ho ho rotaa phiru
main to rotaa phiru baadalon ki tarhaa
thandi aahen bharu paagalon ki tarhaa
jaane phir kyon, phir kyon
jaane phir kyon rulaati hai duniya mujhe
pyaar ki aag mein tan badan jal gayaa (2)

baat jab main karoon mooh se nikle dhuaa
jal gayaa (2) mere dil kaa jahaan
baat jab main karoon mooh se nikle dhuaa (2)
arre jal gayaa
jal gayaa mere dil ka jahaan
jaane phir kyon, phir kyon
jaane phir kyon sataati hai duniya mujhe
pyaar ki aag mein tan badan jal gayaa (2)

ishq mujhko nachaataa rahaa hai sadaa
kyaa kyaa sapne dikhaata rahaa hai sadaa
ishq mujhko nachaataa rahaa hai sadaa (2)
kyaa kyaa sapne dikhaata rahaa hai sadaa
jaane phir kyon, phir kyon
jaane phir kyon nachaati hai duniya mujhe
pyaar ki aag mein tan badan jal gayaa (2)
tan badan jal gaya (2)

Yeh meri zindagi ek paagal hawaa

What an upbeat number! but a sad one at that. I couldn't believe my ears when I first listened to it. Completely contradicting music and lyrics, it's a very beautiful song though, with Lataji's lovely voice and Asha Parekh's dancing/acting just add to the beauty. The song just gets stuck in your head after listening to it for a few times.

yeh kaun jaane main kya hoon
sun na chaahte ho
suno
main ek chaand hoon
jis ke maathe pe ek daag hai
mera dil jalta hua chiraag hai

(yeh meri zindagi ek paagal hawaa
aaj idhar kal udhar main kisi ki nahin) (2)
yeh meri zindagi

jeevan meraa jyoti pyaar ki
har dil se mel chaahat ka khel
duniya se pyaar karti
meri mehfil sab ki raahen
chalne mein teer itni shaheer
jaise gagan ki laali
aaj idhar kal udhar main kisi ki nahin
yeh meri zindagi ek paagal hawaa
aaj idhar kal udhar main kisi ki nahin
yeh meri zindagi

meri duniya dhokhe suhaane
waade haseen kaagaz ke phool
khusboo se door hai
hoon to saahil lekin toofaan
manzil na koyi mere khayaal
masti mein choor hai
aaj idhar kal udhar main kisi ki nahin
yeh meri zindagi ek paagal hawaa
aaj idhar kal udhar main kisi ki nahin
yeh meri zindagi

mera yeh dil zakhmon ka gulshan
aahen bharu na shikve karu
main aansoo ke jaam pee loon
gham ko bhulaau khush ho ke gaau
machle jo dard chehra ho zard
deewaani ban ke jee loon
aaj idhar kal udhar main kisi ki nahin
(yeh meri zindagi ek paagal hawaa
aaj idhar kal udhar main kisi ki nahin) (2)
yeh meri zindagi

Madhuban mein raadhikaa naache re...

I now remember this entire song by heart. After taking up the challenge to choreograph the whole thing for the baby shower of our dear sister P, M and I literally went crazy for this song. We both adore it and enjoyed it thoroughly dancing on it. And while doing that, just realized and appreciated at each and every moment for the creators of the song to make this one possible. It is one amazing song! The next one that we want to chreograph is hopefully another Radha-Krishna song.

This one is so beautiful to listen to as well as watch. What awesome singing of Rafi sahab and then Dilip Kumar's lipsync with it and Naushad's music just make me go "waah waah!!" and who wouldn't when Radhika is dancing to Giridhar playing His flute. :)

aa aa aa aa aa aa
madhuban mein raadhikaa naache re (2)
giridhar ki muraliyaa baaje re (2)
madhuban mein raadhikaa naache re

naa chak chum chum taa thai taa thai taa taa
chak chum chum chhana na na chum chum chhana na na

aa aa aa aa aa aa aa

Apne liye jeeye to kya jeeye...

This song is practically never on youtube. I have been searching for it since months, probably years... so today while searching for it yet again, when I found it, I got so excited and decided to share it.

The first time I had watched this was probably on rangoli or chitrahaar or may be it was on ATN and ever since then I fell in love with it. I have to admit, it was all because of the lyrics and ever so young Sanjeev Kumar and his smile. Today, listening to it again while watching, just makes me fall in love with it once again. Manna Dey's voice is beautiful and I adore the music. It is of Usha Khanna. I wish I knew the names of the other people in there. Until then... enjoy this gem.

khudgaraz duniya mein yeh insaan ki pehchaan hai
jo paraayi aag mein jal jaaye woh insaan hai

apne liye jeeye to kya jeeye (2)
tu jee aye dil zamaane ke liye
apne liye jeeye to kya jeeye (2)
tu jee aye dil zamaane ke liye
apne liye jeeye to kya jeeye

naakaamiyon se ghabra ke kyon apni aas khote ho (2)
main humsafar tumhaara hoon kyon tum udaas hote ho
hanste raho hasaane ke liye (2)
tu jee aye dil zamaane ke liye
apne liye jeeye to kya jeeye

apni khudi ko jo samjha usne khuda ko pehchaana (2)
aazaad fitrate insaan andaaz kyon bhulaa maana
sir yeh nahin jhukaane ke liye (2)
tu jee aye dil zamaane ke liye
apne liye jeeye to kya jeeye

baazaar se zamaane ke kuchh bhi naa hum kharidenge (2)
haan bech kar khushi apni logon ke gham kharidenge
bujhte diye jalaane ke liye (2)
tu jee aye dil zamaane ke liye
apne liye jeeye to kya jeeye

himmat buland hai apni patthar si jaan rakhte hai (2)
kadmon tale zameen to kya hum aasmaan rakhte hai
girte huo ko uthaane ke liye (2)
tu jee aye dil zamaane ke liye
apne liye jeeye to kya jeeye

chal aaftaab le kar chal chal maahtaab le kar chal (2)
tu apni ek thokar mein sau inqalaab le kar chal
zulm-o-sitam mitaane ke liye (2)
tu jee aye dil zamaane ke liye

apne liye jeeye to kya jeeye (2)
tu jee aye dil zamaane ke liye
apne liye jeeye to kya jeeye (2)

Ghoom Ke Aaya Hoon Main

Today, while listening to Johnny Walker songs I realized what a fun song this is, specially the lyrics. I really like the line "yeh sab hai shaagird mere jaani inka ustaad..." :)

In the second stanza, they are referring to someone Ambalewali. I'm guessing that's Zohrabai. Anyone knows whether that's who it is referring to?

M: (ghoom ke aaya hoon main bandhu roos cheen england
india waale maze udaa lo sun kar mera band
baaje waala patiyaale waala (2) ) (2)

mere band mein dhol bajaate the shri raaj kapoor
sach kehta hoon duniyaa waalon karta nahin guroor
baaje waala patiyaale waala (2)
ghoom ke aaya hoon main bandhu roos cheen england
india waale maze udaa lo sun kar mera band
baaje waala patiyaale waala (2)
F: aaa aaa aaa aaa aaa aaa

aasha bhosle aur rafi ke tum sab ho deewaane
apla??? ambaale waali aayi band bajaane
M: baaje waala patiyaale waala (2)
F: aaa aaa aaa aaa aaa aaa
ghoom ke aayi hoon main baabu roos cheen england
arre india waale maze udaa lo sun kar mera band
M: baaje waala patiyaale waala (2)
F: aaa haa haa aaa haa haa haa haa

Yeh din kyaa aaye...

I had completely missed this song while watching the film. While listening to other songs I came across this one and really enjoyed listening to it and watching it. What a beautiful story it is. I loved the film for the fact that I got so annoyed with Asrani character's behavior and felt so sorry for Amol Palekar's character. And it was so satisfying to see the latter get even later on. Just goes to say how well they acted, on direction of Basu Chatterjee of course. :)

This one is sung by Mukesh and beautiful music is by none other than Salil Chaudhary. Lyrics are by Yogesh. First time I heard of this lyricist.

(yeh din kyaa aaye lage phool hansne
dekho basanti basanti hone lage mere sapne) (2)
yeh din kyaa aaye lage phool hansne

(awesome music plays here!)

(sone jaisi ho rahi hai har subah meri
lage har saanjh ab gulaal se bhari) (2)
chalne lagi mehki hui pawan magan jhoom ke
aanchal teraa choom ke
yeh din kyaa aaye lage phool hansne
dekho basanti basanti hone lage mere sapne
yeh din kyaa aaye lage phool hansne

(wahaan mann baanwaraa aaj ud chalaa
jahaan par hai gagan salonaa saanwalaa) (2)
jaa ke wahin rakh de kahin man rango mein khol ke
sapne yeh anmol se
(yeh din kyaa aaye lage phool hansne
dekho basanti basanti hone lage mere sapne) (2)
yeh din kyaa aaye lage phool hansne

(sone jaisi ho rahi hai har subah meri
lage har saanjh ab gulaal se bhari) (2)
chalne lagi mehki hui pawan magan jhoom ke
aanchal teraa choom ke
yeh din kyaa aaye lage phool hansne
dekho basanti basanti hone lage mere sapne
yeh din kyaa aaye lage phool hansne

Yeh parbaton ke daaire yeh shaam kaa dhuaan...

I adore the accordian playing in this one. If you think the picturization could have been better, you're not the only one, but I'm a sucker for the good music, good singers and awesome poetry any day so don't mind sitting through watching such cold acting of these actors.

M: yeh parbaton ke daaire yeh shaam kaa dhuaan
aise mein kyon na chhed de dilon ki daastaan
F: yeh parbaton ke daaire yeh shaam kaa dhuaan
aise mein kyon na chhed de dilon ki daastaan
Both: yeh parbaton ke daaire yeh shaam kaa dhuaan

M: zaraa si zulf khol do fizaa mein itra ghol do (2)
nazar jo baat keh chuki woh baat munh se bol do
ki jhoom uthe nigaah mein bahaar kaa samaa
Both: yeh parbaton ke daaire yeh shaam kaa dhuaan
aise mein kyon na chhed de dilon ki daastaan
yeh parbaton ke daaire yeh shaam kaa dhuaan

(lovely music plays here)

F: yeh chup bhi ek sawaal hai ajeeb dil kaa haal hai (2)
har ek khayaal kho gayaa bas ab yehi khayaal hai
ki faaslaa na kuchh rahe hamaare darmiyaan
Both: yeh parbaton ke daaire yeh shaam kaa dhuaan

M: yeh roop rang yeh paban chamakte chaand saa badan (2)
buraa na maano tum agar to choom loon kiran kiran
ki aaj hausalon mein hai balaa ki garmiyaan
Both: yeh parbaton ke daaire yeh shaam kaa dhuaan
aise mein kyon na chhed de dilon ki daastaan
yeh parbaton ke daaire yeh shaam kaa dhuaan

Maine use dekhaa hai...

I just found out that I am going to have a brand new bhabhi and I can't stop smiling... :D Congrats to dearest Dbhai & Jbhabhi-to-be! This song is for the two of you. May God bless you two with all the happiness there is. Love you both.

Many thanks to Seema at OnAirDilSe for playing this beautiful song today. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan sounds so unique and marvelous... music reminds me of some old song, but I can't figure out which one.

phoolon mein rangon mein khwaabon mein
maine use dekhaa hai (4)
(phoolon mein rangon mein khwaabon mein
maine use dekhaa hai) (2)
maine use dekhaa hai

phoolon mein rangon mein khwaabon mein
maine use dekhaa hai

baadalon se guzarte hue chaand ne chupke karte hue
us ke taaron se pehloo mein pichhale paher aankh malte hue
roshani ki taraf neemva khidkiyon se nikalte hue
baagon mein shehron ki galiyon mein
maine use dekhaa hai
(phoolon mein rangon mein khwaabon mein
maine use dekhaa hai) (2)
maine use dekhaa hai
phoolon mein rangon mein khwaabon mein
maine use dekhaa hai

(this music sounds so familiar)

jab hawaa rukh badal ne yeh haal? mein ladkhadaane lage
dil ki kaliyon ke kaanon mein bhanwaraa koi geet gaane lage
aur jab khud bakhud dil mein ek aarzoo muskuraane lage
aise hi lamhon ki baahon mein
maine use dekhaa hai
(phoolon mein rangon mein khwaabon mein
maine use dekhaa hai) (4)
maine use dekhaa hai
phoolon mein rangon mein khwaabon mein
maine use dekhaa hai

Thehriye hosh mein aa loon...

I don't know the definition of romance but I'd say it'd be something that this one describes, or makes one feel. The music gives me goosebumps. What is the instrument that plays tick-tocking sound in between the stanzas.. I wonder It sounds like how those little pieces of flat stones/tiles that the boys selling water on trains would use to make noise or the beggers who used them to play music while they sang on trains.

She walking home with sabzi in basket... and him hopping around and being playful chasing her. Notice how he touches her shoulder while singing "door ki chaahat" and then later her nose after "apni taqdeer banaa loon" and she smiling away with shyness with her long tresses covering her face... waah!

OMG! What sweet voice Suman Kalyanpur has. And Rafi sahab's voice so full of mischief and so unique to match Shashi Kapoor's voice. All of these things with the lyrics make it one of my favorite romantic melodies.

And this also adds one more entry to the boat songs collection! :)

M: thehriye hosh mein aa loon to chale jaaiyegaa
F: uh huh
M: aap ko dil mein bithaa loon to chale jaaiyegaa
F: uh huh
M: aap ko dil mein bithaa loon

M: kab talak rahiyegaa yoon door ki chaahat ban ke (2)
dil mein aa jaaiye iqraar-e-mohabbat ban ke
apni taqdeer banaa loon to chale jaaiyegaa
F: uh huh
M: aap ko dil mein bithaa loon to chale jaaiyegaa
aap ko dil mein bithaa loon

F: mujhko iqraar-e-mohabbat se hayaa aati hai (2)
baat kehte hue gardan meri jhuk jaati hai
dekhiye sir ko jhukaa loon to chale jaaiyegaa
M: uh huh
F: dekhiye sir ko jhukaa loon to chale jaaiyegaa
M: haaye... aap ko dil mein bithaa loon

aisi kya sharm zaraa paas to aane bhi de (2)
rukh se bikhari hui zulfen to hataane bhi de
pyaas aankhon ki bhuja loon to chale jaaiyegaa
thehriye hosh mein aa loon to chale jaaiyegaa
hm hm hm... la la la...
Both: aap ko dil mein bithaa loon to chale jaaiyegaa
aap ko dil mein bithaa loon
