Kahin to.. kahin to hogi woh...

The song that totally grows on you. Got a chance to watch the movie once again today and I kept on going back to this one. So glad I went back to listen to it. The excitement of the film almost makes you miss it. Glad I didn't.

M: kahin to kahin to hogi woh
duniya jahaan tu mere saath hai
jahaan main jahaan tu aur jahaan
bas tere mere jazbaat hai

hogi jahaan subah teri
palkon ki kiranon mein
lori jahaan chaand ki
sune teri baahon mein

(jahaan na kahaan woh duniya hai
jaane na woh hai bhi ya nahin
jahaan meri zindagi mujhse
itni khafaa nahin) (2)

F: saansen kho gayi hai kis ki aanhon mein
main kho gayi hoon jaane kis ki baahon mein
manzilon se raahe dhoondhti chali
aurkho gayi hai manzil kahin raahon mein

M: kahin to kahin to hai nashaa
teri meri har mulaqaat mein
hothon se hothon ko choomti
oh rehte hai hum har baat pe

kehti hai fiza jahaan
teri zameen aasmaan
jahaan hai tu meri haseen
meri khushi meri jaan

(jahaan na kahaan woh duniya hai
jaane na woh hai bhi ya nahin
jahaan meri zindagi mujhse
itni khafaa nahin) (3)

Rajesh Khanna. I think the name and I see this person who is loved by all. Or at least that's how I want to see him. It's been three days since he's gone but he lives in his songs, in his films, in his fans, in the people who loved him. For me, he'd always be this hero who stole my heart without me knowing about it. He didn't even do anything but just look. That's who he is. Been thinking about him and listening to his songs and this is the one that summarizes him. Kaka, you've been a legend and will always be remembered so fondly. May you continue to create magic with your eyes wherever you are. God bless you.

maine

sapne surile sapne

(chhoti baatein
chhoti chhoti baaton ki hai yaaden badi
bhule nahin beeti hui ek chhodi ghadi) (2)
janam janam se aankhen bichaayi
tere liye in raahon mein
sapne surile sapne

(bhole bhaale
bhole bhaale dil ko behlaate rahe
tanhaayi mein tere khayaalon ko sajaate rahe) (2)
khabi kabhi to aawaaz de kar
sapne surile sapne

(roothi raate
roothi hui raaton ko manaaya kabhi
tere liye bheegi subah ko bulaaya kabhi) (2)
tere bina bhi tere liye hi
diye jalaaye raahon mein

sapne surile sapne

Phir miloge kabhi is baat ka wada kar lo

For some reason this one reminds me of zindagi bhar nahin bhoolegi. I think it's the singer, slow music and similar instruments playing in the background that cause this effect.

Absolutely love the way Rafi sahab sings the word "mulaqaat" in this one. Funnily enough, the song came up on youtube as I was listening to "wada na tod" of Lataji and I got to listen to it for the first time. So glad I clicked on it. :) Sharmila looks so gorgeous.

M: phir miloge kabhi is baat ka wada kar lo (2)
phir miloge kabhi is baat ka wada kar lo) (2)

[love the music here, wondering what other instruments play here other than sitar and violin]

(dil ki har baat adhoori hai adhoori hai abhi
apni ek aur mulaqaat zaroori hai abhi) (2)
phir miloge kabhi is baat ka wada kar lo

F: aap kyon dil ka haaseen raaz mujhe dete hai
kyon nayaa naghmaa nayaa saaz mujhe dete hai
main to hoon doobi hui pyaar ke toofaanon mein

phir miloge kabhi is baat ka wada kar lo) (2)

Jab hum jawaan honge...

Just remembered this song out of no where while watching some songs on youtube. I like it quite a lot.

F: (jab hum jawaan honge
jaane kahaan honge) (2)
lekin jahaan honge
wahaan fariyaad karenge
tujhe yaad karenge

jab hum jawaan honge
jaane kahaan honge
lekin jahaan honge
wahaan fariyaad karenge
tujhe yaad karenge

ho ho ho ho ho
ho ho ho ho

(jab hum jawaan honge
jaane kahaan honge) (2)
lekin jahaan honge
wahaan fariyaad karenge
tujhe yaad karenge

jab hum jawaan honge
jaane kahaan honge
lekin jahaan honge
wahaan fariyaad karenge
tujhe yaad karenge
jab hum jawaan honge

(yeh bachpan ka pyaar agar kho jaayega
dil kitna khaali kaali ho jaayega) (2)
tere khayaalon se isse aabaad karenge
tujhe yaad karenge

M: jab hum jawaan honge
jaane kahaan honge
lekin jahaan honge
wahaan fariyaad karenge
tujhe yaad karenge
jab hum jawaan honge

hehehe
hehehehe

aise hansti thi woh aise chalti thi (2)
chaand ke jaise chhupti aur nikalti thi
aise hansti thi woh aise chalti thi
chaand ke jaise chhupti aur nikalti thi
sab se teri baatein tere baad karenge
tujhe yaad karenge

F: jab hum jawaan honge
jaane kahaan honge
lekin jahaan honge
wahaan fariyaad karenge
tujhe yaad karenge
jab hum jawaan honge

aa aa aa aa..
(what lovely smile does Amrita have!)

F: tere shabnami khwaabon ki tasveeron se
M: teri reshami zulfon ki zanjeeron se

F: tere shabnami khwaabon ki tasveeron se
M: teri reshami zulfon ki zanjeeron se
kaise hum apne aap ko aazaad karenge
tujhe yaad karenge
jab hum jawaan honge
jaane kahaan honge

F: lekin jahaan honge
wahaan fariyaad karenge
tujhe yaad karenge

Tumul kolahal kaleh mein...

It was a few months back that I had heard this song for the first time. Darshana aunty was the one who first mentioned it. She grew up living next door from Jaidevji and he was her guru. It was wonderful to hear her childhood stories of how she'd go to recordings with him, how down to earth and a simple man he was and how she spent quality time with him learning music from him and being the kid next door. Lucky her! We had listened to the song on some other website that day. She explained what each stanza meant as the Hindi was too high level for me. Today, I found it on youtube and can't stop listening to it yet again. Love the shuddh Hindi in the lyrics and the out-of-this-world music. For some reason, the music here reminds me of another gem of Jaidevji's that I had discovered a few years ago: yeh neer kahaan se.

(tumul kolaahal kaleh mein
main hriday ki baat re man) (2)

vikal ho kar nitya chanchal (2)
khojati jab neend ke pal
vikal ho kar nitya chanchal
khojati jab neend ke pal
chetanaa thak si rahi
chetanaa
chetanaa thak si rahi tab
main malay ki baat re man (2)
tumul kolaahal kaleh mein
main hriday ki baat re man

(the flute sounds so familiar)

(cheer vishaad vileen man ki
is vyathaa ke timeer van ki) (2)
main ushaa si jyoti rekhaa
main ushaa si
main ushaa si jyoti rekhaa
kusum vikasit praat re man (2)
tumul kolaahal kaleh mein
main hriday ki baat re man

jahaan maru jwaalaa dhadhakti (2)
chaatki tan ko tarasti
jahaan maru jwaalaa dhadhakti
chaatki tan ko tarasti
unhi jeevan ghaatiyon ki
unhi jeevan
unhi jeevan ghaatiyon ki
main saras barsaat re man (2)
tumul kolaahal kaleh mein
main hriday ki baat re man

(love this music)

(pawan ki praacheer mein ruk
jalaa jeevan jee rahaa jhuk) (2)
is jhulaste vishwa din ki
is jhulaste
is jhulaste vishwa din ki
main kusum ritu raat re man (2)
(tumul kolaahal kaleh mein
main hriday ki baat re man) (2)
hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm..

Jaane dil mein kab se hai tu...

One of my favorite movies and its favorite songs! Love both the happy and sad versions of it. I think the singers and musician and actors definitely have to do with it. Wish they made more songs like these.

khaamosh jab se hai tu
haan, khaamosh jab se hai tu

Mujhe neend na aaye.. mujhe chain na aaye...

One of those evergreen songs from the era when the actors and actresses were skinny and eyebrows were thicker and wearing big yellow plastic earrings was fashionable and music was nice and you can hear the tabla and flute and the cameras still stayed on actors' faces and there were no 1000+ dancers dancing behind the two of them. This one is no different and that's why it has special place in heart. The lyrics stuck and for good reason. This afternoon out of no where I started humming this one and I just had to listen to it and post it on here so that I can listen to it again on a repeat mode. :)

Golden songs of golden days! Love!

Ch: aa aa...aa aa
aa aa.. aa aa..
aa..
aa aa aa...

(love the music here)

M: mujhe neend na aaye

karvat badal badal ke raat bitaau main) (2)
M: (poochho zara poochho kya haal hai
