My parents grew up listening to this one so the first time I had heard this one was from them when we played antakshari. I really like the song a lot for the lyrics are absolutely beautiful. Watched it for the first time today and now it's making me want to watch the movie too...
Every once in a while I get stumped to read such lyrics and wonder how and when the lyricist wrote them. It'd be nice to know more about that.
The voice of Mukesh was created for Raj Kapoor songs, I think. Well, no I take that back, it was actually created for the Ramayan he sang (which is my most favorite singing of Mukesh), but this one is quite wonderful to listen to as well. :)
mujhe tum se kuchh bhi naa chaahiye
mujhe mere haal pe chhod do (2)
meraa dil agar koyi dil nahin
use mere saamane tod do (2)
mujhe tum se kuchh bhi naa chaahiye
(main yeh bhool jaaungaa zindagi
kabhi muskuraayi thi pyaar mein) (2)
main yeh bhool jaaoongaa meraa dil
kabhi khil uthaa thaa bahaar mein
jinhe is jahaan ne bhula diya
mera naam unn mein hi jod do (2)
mujhe tum se kuchh bhi naa chaahiye
mujhe mere haal pe chhod do (2)
mujhe tum se kuchh bhi naa chaahiye
(tumhe apnaa kehne ki chaah mein
kabhi ho sake naa kisi ke hum) (2)
yehi dard mere jigar mein hai
mujhe maar daalegaa bas yeh gham
main woh gul hoon jo na khila kabhi
mujhe kyon na shaak se tod do (2)
mujhe tum se kuchh bhi naa chaahiye
mujhe mere haal pe chhod do (2)
mujhe tum se kuchh bhi naa chaahiye
