Phir Teri Kahaani Yaad Aayi

Some numbers just stay in your mind and heart forever like this one. This is also one of those songs that I hum quite a lot like nain so nain. I don't know what it is about this song and its music that does the trick but I haven't heard such a beautiful song in a long while. Hope you enjoy it too. Lataji's voice is full of magic and Naushad's music totally goosebumpy.

phir teri kahaani yaad aayi
phir tera fasaana yaad aaya
phir aaj hamaari aankhon ko (2)
ek khwaab puraana yaad aaya
phir teri kahaani yaad aayi

jalte hai chiraagon ki soorat
har shaam teri hum yaadon mein
jab subah ko shabnam roti hai
kho jaate hai hum fariyaadon mein (2)
jab dil ne koyi aawaaz suni (2)
tera hi taraana yaad aaya
phir teri kahaani yaad aayi

shaayad kabhi milna ho jaaye
baithe hai isi armaan mein hum
toone to kinaara paa hi liye
uljhe hai magar toofaan mein hum
aye jaan-e-wafaa phir aaj hume (2)
pichhalaa woh zamaana yaad aaya

phir teri kahaani yaad aayi
phir tera fasaana yaad aaya...

I came here thinking I'd hear .. "Tere dar par sanam, chale aaye", and "Badalon mein chup raha hai chand kyon?". Kuch bhi kaho par, if you plot a Venn diagram of the songs we are both interested in, perhaps we get a really small number. Nonetheless, I'll admit you know a whole lot more, and are far more passionate about Hindi music. Keep up the good work!

Java, sorry to disappoint you. :) I know that I am still stuck in the 50s and 60s era. I find that quite surprising myself as being a late 70s child I should be more interested in the timeperiod I grew up in, but to be honest, believe it or not, the older music appeals me the most. For some reason the 90s and 80s just don't do the trick. No doubt that there were movies with good songs then also, but just not in the same counts.

I do like songs of Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayi. That was one film that had many many good songs compared to some others which would mostly have one or two songs that stay in the memory.
