Aayi Milan Ki Bela

So I just watched 'Aayi Milan Ki Bela' last night after having wanted to watch the movie for more than 8 years. The nearby Indian movie rental places didn't carry it so I had to have Nipun send it to me with mom during her trip to India last August. For one year, I didn't get a chance to watch the movie, so finally last night I decided to watch it.

Aayi Milan Ki Bela is one of those romantic triangles story of Indian cinema where romance, social life and a whole bunch of lovely songs come together. Movie is worth watching once definitely, if not for the oh-so-charming Rajendra Kumar, or gorgeous Saira Banu, at least for the wonderful romantic songs that it has - Shankar-Jaikishan's music and lyrics of Shailendra and Hasrat Jaipuri make you want to keep humming these songs. All of them are worth watching, and listening... Papu says that back in 1964, when the movie came out, when Saira Banu was singing "tum ko hamari umar lag jaaye" on screen, audience used to throw money at the screen. And indeed, Lata has sung the song so beautifully, and Saira Banu looks like a million-dollar lady in that song. I never thought a white saari can look such beautiful until I saw her in that song. Simply fabulous! Not to mention Rajendra Kumar looks sooooooooooo handsome!! Dharmendra plays a wee-bit negative role of an angry young man.

Other songs of the movie:

- Ayee Milan Ki Bela (Asha Bhosle, Mohd Rafi)
- Bura Maan Gaye (Mohd Rafi)
- Main Kamsin Hoon (Lata Mangeshkar)
- Main Pyar Ka Deewana (Mohd Rafi)
- O Sanam Tere Ho Gaye Hum (Lata Mangeshkar, Mohd Rafi)
- Tum Kamsin Ho (Mohd Rafi)
