Waadiyaan mera daaman...

So actually it happens so that in Hulchul, it is not when Kishanbhaiya/Murari arrives at Gangapur this Rafi song plays. It is when Jai and Lucky get off the bus (at 1:30:00 in this clip) this song plays. Then the song playing when Kishanbhaiya arrives (at 1:33:00 min) is different and quite inaudible so it's hard to listen.

Coming back to our song now.. wow! what a fabulous song... and it's all thanks to the RDB music & the way Rafi sahab has sung this song. Nothing else adds to it. The dhun is so catchy and echoing music out of this world! I guess this must be my favorite song too because it also falls under the most-absentmindedly-hummed category.

Sanjay Khan and Nanda are just about okay in the gorgeous melodious male solo version of the song seems a bit haunting at times. The softer romantic female version, which could actually be a duet, is picturized on Nanda and Marathi actor Kashinath Ghanekar. Note how both versions have completely different music.

M: (waadiyaan mera daaman raaste meri baahen
jaao mere siva tum kahaan jaaoge) (2)
waadiyaan mera daaman

jab churaaoge tan tum kisi baat se (2)
shaakh-e-gul chhed degi mere haath se
apni hi zulf ko aur uljaaoge
waadiyaan mera daaman raaste meri baahen
jaao mere siva tum kahaan jaaoge
waadiyaan mera daaman

jab se milne lagi tum se raahen meri (2)
chaand sooraj bani do nigaahen meri
tum kahin bhi raho tum nazar aaoge
(waadiyaan mera daaman raaste meri baahen
jaao mere siva tum kahaan jaaoge) (2)
waadiyaan mera daaman

M: waadiyaan mera daaman raaste meri baahen
jaao mere siva tum kahaan jaaoge

F: (waadiyaan mera daaman raaste meri baahen
jaao mere siva tum kahaan jaaoge) (2)
waadiyaan mera daaman

jab hasegi kali rang waali koyi (2)
aur jhuk jaayegi tum pe dalai koyi
sir jhukaaye hue tum mujhe paaoge
waadiyaan mera daaman raaste meri baahen
jaao mere siva tum kahaan jaaoge
waadiyaan mera daaman

chal rahe ho jahaan is nazar se pare (2)
woh dagar to guzarti hai dil se mere
dagmagaate hue tum yehi aaoge
(waadiyaan mera daaman raaste meri baahen
jaao mere siva tum kahaan jaaoge) (2)
waadiyaan mera daaman

Khoya Khoya Chaand Khula Aasmaan...

I really enjoy rewatching my favorite films because that's when I get to pay attention to those little details that I probably missed while watching them the previous times.

Do you remember that scene in Dilwaale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (at 6:26 min) when super upset Baauji (Amrish Puri) arrives at home from store after just having dealt with beer-guzzling Raj (SRK)? Simran (Kajol) wants to go on a tour of Europe, so to set the right mood, she promptly switches the song from random hulla-gulla type song (which probably is another HFM oldie) to gham diye mustakil.

Similarly, in Jab We Met when Aditya (Shahid) and Geet (Kareena) arrive at Hotel Decent, there is a moment when some random song plays in the background. The music of it is so cool it just makes you feel happy. I kept wondering and recalling random songs for almost an hour to find out which one this was until Papu came by. As soon as I had him listen to it, he said it!! and indeed this was it!!

I think there's one more song like this. It is during the scene in film Hulchul (Kareena starrer) when Kishanbhaiya (Paresh Raval) arrives at his village on a bus to see his wife Gopi (Farah). He gets off the bus near this paan ki dukaan/stall and the song is playing in the background right at that moment. I definitely know it's a Mohd Rafi song.. need to go back and watch the scene again to remember what song that is... that song tomorrow, if I don't already have it on here. :)

Any ways, for this one, I find it hilarious that Dev Anand sahab had to move his hands such funny way to make it work. I love the song nevertheless, mostly for the music and lyrics and Rafi sahab's voice. And also for the fact that it has fooooooooooourrrr lovely stanzas and how the third one starts off on a completely different tune than rest of them. Enjoy!

ho ho ho ho
(khoya khoya chaand khula aasmaan
aankhon mein saari raat jaayegi
tum ko bhi kaise neend aayegi ho ho) (2)
khoya khoya chaand

(this music plays at the beginning of scene at Hotel Decent in Jab We Met)

masti bhari hawaa jo chali (2)
khil-khil gayi yeh dil ki kali
man ki gali main hai khalbhali
ke unko to bulaao
ho ho ho... ho ho
khoya khoya chaand khula aasmaan
aankhon mein saari raat jaayegi
tum ko bhi kaise neend aayegi ho ho
khoya khoya chaand

taare chale nazaare chale (2)
sang sang mere woh saare chale
chaaron taraf ishaare chale
kisi ke to ho jaao
ho ho ho... ho ho
khoya khoya chaand khula aasmaan
aankhon mein saari raat jaayegi
tum ko bhi kaise neend aayegi ho ho
khoya khoya chaand

ho.. ho ho ho (2)

aisi hi raat bheegi si raat (2)
haathon mein haath hote woh saath
keh lete unse dil ki yeh baat
ab to na sataao
ho ho ho... ho ho
khoya khoya chaand khula aasmaan
aankhon mein saari raat jaayegi
tum ko bhi kaise neend aayegi ho ho
khoya khoya chaand

hum mit chale jinke liye
hum mit chale hai jinke liye
bin kuchh kahe woh chup chup rahe
koyi zaraa yeh unse kahe
na aise aazmaao
ho ho ho... ho ho
khoya khoya chaand khula aasmaan
aankhon mein saari raat jaayegi
tum ko bhi kaise neend aayegi ho ho
khoya khoya chaand (6)

Aye Mohabbat Meri Duniya

Another abhinay based song with meaningful lyrics. A bit sad song but how full of emotions and expressions is this one... simply amazing! Love Waheeda Rehman so much along with Hemantda's music.

aye mohabbat meri duniya mein tera kaam na tha
aye mohabbat meri
tu na aayi thi to gham ka bhi kahin naam na tha
aye mohabbat meri duniya mein tera kaam na tha
aye mohabbat meri

jaane kyon aaj hai shikva mujhe duniya bhar se (2)
isse pehle to kisi par koi ilzaam na tha
aye mohabbat meri duniya mein tera kaam na tha
aye mohabbat meri

aye mohabbat meri

Do Ghadi Woh Jo Paas Aa Baithe

Been listening to songs with outstanding abhinay by the artists. This was among of my favorites for the lyrics and music along with the acting/abhinay of both of these actors. First time ever I actually liked Bharat Bhushan and Madhubala looks so innocent with such expressive eyes. Truly gorgeous! As usual, the music/tunes of this song remind me of some other song but I can't pinpoint to which one...

M:: do ghadi woh jo paas aa baithe (2)
F:: hum zamaane se door ja baithe (2)
Both:: do ghadi woh jo paas aa baithe

M:: (bhool ki un ka hum-naseen ho ke
royenge dil ko umra-bhar kho ke) (2)
haaye kya cheez thi loota baithe
Both:: do ghadi woh jo paas aa baithe

F:: (dil ko ek din zaroor jaana tha
wahin pahooncha jahaan thikaana tha) (2)
dil wohi dil jo dil mein jaa baithe
Both:: do ghadi woh jo paas aa baithe

M:: (ek dil hi tha gham-gusaar apnaa
meherbaan khaas raazdaar apnaa) (2)
gair ka kyon use banaa baithe
Both:: do ghadi woh jo paas aa baithe

F:: (gair bhi to koyi haseen hogaa
dil yoon hi de diyaa nahin hogaa) (2)
dekh kar kuchh to chot khaa baithe

Both:: do ghadi woh jo paas aa baithe
hum zamaane se door ja baithe
do ghadi woh jo paas aa baithe
