Tumhi Mere Mandir Tumhi Meri Pooja

What a lovely song! As they say the husband is the world for his wife regardless of how and what he is, or should I say for the ideal couple. ;) Lataji got filmfare award for playback singing for this song in 1965. This I found out while I was searching for what raag this song is based on. Why not? It's just so beautiful song and no one would have been able to do justice to this music and lyrics.

And there couldn't have been a better song for it is Karva Chauth today! Enjoy.

ps. Just watched the song and oh my goodness! what a beautiful couple... Nutan looks such pretty in the pink saari and those quarter sleeved and shoulder/back covering blouses too can make someone look this fantastic in the world of skimpy clothes. And Sunil Dutt, even as a handicapped husband looks so very handsome.

(tum hi mere mandir tum hi meri poojaa
tum hi devtaa ho (2)) (2)
koyi meri aankhon se dekhe to samjhe
ke tum mere kyaa ho (2)
tum hi mere mandir tum hi meri poojaa
tum hi devtaa ho (2)

(jidhar dekhati hoon udhar tum hi tum ho
na jaane magar kin khayaalon mein gum ho) (2)
mujhe dekh kar tum zaraa muskuraa do
nahin to main samajhoongi mujh se khafaa ho
tum hi mere mandir tum hi meri poojaa
tum hi devtaa ho (2)

(tum hi mere maathe ki bindiyaa ki jhil-mil
tum hi mere haathon ke gajaron ki manzil) (2)
main hoon ek chhotisi maati ki gudiyaa
tum hi praan mere tum hi aatmaa ho
tum hi mere mandir tum hi meri poojaa
tum hi devtaa ho (2)

bahot raat beeti chalo main sulaa doon
pawan chhede saragam main lori sunaa doon
hm hm hm hm hm hm hm hm
bahot raat beeti chalo main sulaa doon
pawan chhede saragam main lori sunaa doon
tumhe dekh kar ye khayaal aa rahaa hai
ke jaise farishtaa koyi so rahaa ho

(tum hi mere mandir tum hi meri poojaa
tum hi devtaa ho (2)) (2)

I feel the raga is Bhairavi. I started from " komal dha" ( dha 1) it came very nicely.
Sa, re( komal), ga( komal) ma ( shudhdh), pa, da( komal), ni( komal) sa.
